jimmer Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Ah, the classic bases-loaded Mauer walk. Keuchel has thrown 8 balls to 1 strike in his last 9 pitches.A run scores. Mauer shouldn't be swinging at pitches out of the strike zone.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Joltin' Joe Mauer is.... Wasn't that pic taken when he realized someone replaced his 2% with skim? No one messes with his milk.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 I didn't see the earlier innings ... has he been like this the whole game ... or just kind of losing it now?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Damn it, Sano! He needs to take a lesson or two from Mauer.
jimmer Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 We just don’t appeal anymore?offense can't officially appeal to the base umpire on a check swing, only the defense can.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Man this is a snoozer At least we're inside where it's warm. Anyone at the game who falls asleep is at risk for hypotheria.

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 A run scores. Mauer shouldn't be swinging at pitches out of the strike zone.I wasn't criticizing Mauer. It seems like 50% of his PAs with the bases loaded end in walks, which is great, compared to what the rest of our guys do with the bases loaded...
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 offense can't officially appeal to the base umpire on a check swing, only the defense can.Oh no I meant the umpire should have appealed
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Damn it, Sano! He needs to take a lesson or two from Mauer.I swear Sano used to be better on the check swings when he first came up.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Yikes. Sano HAS to stop doing that check swinging stuff.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 offense can't officially appeal to the base umpire on a check swing, only the defense can. Check swing strike can also be overturned by a presidential pardon, but those are usually granted only by lame duck presidents.
jimmer Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Oh no I meant the umpire should have appealedseemed obvious he went though, no?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 seemed obvious he went though, no?Close enough to check.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Leadoff walk for the third straight inning.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Damn it, Sano! He needs to take a lesson or two from Mauer. Taking more pitches, or emoting more during radio commercial voiceover work?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 No way altuve was out Edit: he was
jimmer Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Listening to our announcers talk. Why does Lynn (or anyone else) feel his start was bad? One of the best offenses scored nothing against him. What is going on?
Platoon Verified Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 I wonder if they would let me in if I brought my support polar bear? And would he need a ticket?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 What a pinhole zone. Are all these walks (from both pitchers) because of the ump's small strike zone? Or are we going to blame the cold weather?
