Not necessarily.  Butterfly Effect.  Absent the passed ball, we have no way of knowing what would have then happened.  It's entirely possible there's an alternate universe where Castro did block the third strike, but Duke then gave up 17 consecutive homers, mooned the crowd, and spontaneously combusted.
