The work they do is a tough job and thankless most of the time (unless a great guy like Bonnes goes out of his way to thank them). These moderators are on top of things and it is appreciated to come to a safe place and not get butchered by trolls. Although, they did delete one of my posts where I called Dick Bremer, "a bore, a hack and an annoying homer." I thought that was a bit strict and taken in context my comments were appropriate. Oh wait, don't remove this quote of my deleted post.

Considering the TD community, I think of that marvelous line by Tolkein in The Fellowship of the Ring - Bilbo Baggins toasts the folk of Hobbiton with this zinger:

“I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”

If the Twins moderators had been around - they would have resolved middle earth tensions before things got out of hand and there would not have had to do the whole big final battle.  Many lives would have been saved and there would still be elves around.

My favorite thing is reading comment after comment, each of them convincing, and having my mind changed, or at least opened a little, to new points of view, in such a collegial and friendly manner. I love that differing opinions are not an occasion to bluster and get huffy, but are mutually considered the very thing we come here to seek out. That open-minded curiosity creates a sense of community, intellectual stimulation, and shared fun. It feels like a warm hearth to gather around and chat, in what can be a cold, cruel world. So, thanks to literally everyone! But especially to the moderators, who make it all happen so seamlessly you don't even know they're there. Well done indeed.
