sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Last Monday a conductor wore a T shirt with what i presume was a profile of Leopold Stokowski, holding baton up towards his chest such that the tip had behind it what presume were meant to be fancy collars or ruffles. This might be an apt insight on how i think, but as it was an old cheap shirt, i couldn't help but think he had a flaming marshmallow on the end of his baton. Needless to say i had a fun rehearsal and hope a few lighthearted camp ditties will help ease the tensions associated with following a wild card race in this here game thread... 1. He'll be swinging at the first pitch when it comes!(try yer own verses!) 2. My eyes have seen the folly of a batter squared to bunt. For unless the fielders play a shift, they are ready for this stunt. And the fans will ever opine that with one more out, we'da won(i)tSo why's it ever done? 3. Eddie swung hard and i don't care.Eddie swung hard and i don't care.Eddie swung hard and i don't care, unless he gets a K. 4. Beautiful slider, buckle the knees, after the fastball raises a breeze.then throw a 2 seem, batter will freeze.Assuming the umpire calls what he sees. 5. There's a hole in the bullpen dear Favley, dear Favley.(etc.) Oh yeah, line ups... Twins: P: Kyle Gibson ( R ) 1. Brian Dozier ( R) 2B2. Joe Mauer (L) 1B3. Jorge Polanco (S) SS4. Eduardo Escobar (S) 3B5. Eddie Rosario (L) LF6. Byron Buxton ( R) CF7. Robbie Grossman (S) DH8. Max Kepler (L) RF9. Chris Gimenez (R ) C Tigers: P: Daniel Norris (L) 1. Ian Kinsler ( R) 2B2. drjim Provisional Member Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 That is some brilliance, but I'm especially partial to 2. Both in content and song and probably influenced by my love of the new Radio Atlantic podcast.
drjim Provisional Member Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Chorus for 2:Mollie, Mollie, Mollie don't bunt!Mollie, Mollie, Mollie don't bunt!Mollie, Mollie, Mollie don't bunt! Please let him swing away.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Speaking of which... Only 4 game thread opportunities remain in 2017: Sep 27, 28, 30, You know what to do. Edit: 3 left
jimmer Verified Member Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Mauer sits with a wRC+ of 119 going into today game. 4 points higher than anyone else in our lineup today.

spinowner Provisional Member Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Apropos of nothing, I really enjoy the commercial where the picnic table pontoon boat with the grill dragging behind putt putts its way out into the lake. I've seen it a hundred times but I still can't tell you who or what is being promoted.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Brilliant... Absolutely Brilliant. BTW... There have been a lot of great game thread opens and I am not diminishing any of the others but... that open is my all time favorite... including all of mine.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Wow. Richard just said that Cabrera is signed through 2025? He'll be 42 then and he's already declining at 34. According to BR, he gets $30m per year (note, $7m more than Mauer) at least through 2023. Ouch!

Not sure what it's about.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Looks like Good Gibby tonight. Hey Now... Watch the jinx stuff... Do something to undo it quickly... Turn around 3 times and spit or buy yourself a new car to remove the jinx.
spinowner Provisional Member Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Buck will be on second base before the next at-bat is completed.
