Two things I never thought I'd say.

Escobar seems like he just hits better in clutch situations.

 

His RISP and men on base numbers are dramatically better this season than they are with the bases empty (like .200 OPS better).

 

His leverage situation numbers are the opposite though, low leverage is really good, high leverage is really bad.

I've always liked watching him pitch, but it seems like he used to give up the "big hit" almost every start. He'd get a lot of guys out, then give up a bloop hit, walk the next guy, and then a home run.

 

I agree with what D&B were just saying about his improved "resilience."
