spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 From yarnivek's facebook feed, Today in Twins History:Eight years ago today I attended my final game at The Hubert Horatio Humphrey Metrodome. The Twins won in walk off fashion but it was otherwise a thoroughly ugly and forgettable game.Something called Armando Gabino made his first (and only) MLB start. It did not go well. He lasted 2 2/3, gave up 5 hits, 3 walks and 4 runs. He was followed by the equally forgettable Phillip Humber. He faced 8 batters, allowing 1 hit, 4 walks and recorded 3 strikeouts. Bobby Keppel took the game to the 7th, by which point the game was already 2 1/2 hours old. Jesse Crain pitched two shutout innings. Jose Mijares pitched a perfect 9th.In the bottom of the 9th, the M&M boys grounded out. Then Michael Cuddyer singled. Jason Kubel pinch hit and drew a walk.Up to the plate stepped Delmon Young, already with 3 singles in the game. He worked the count full and drove a pitch to RF that plated Michael Cuddyer and gave the Twins a 7-6 win. I think I got home (to Winona) at about 1 am. But, at least they won. That was during the brief window of time when Delmon Young was good. Riverbrian 1
spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 The red in the players' weekend Twins unis looks a little too orange.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Dozier's arm gets weaker every year.

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 A hit? Seriously, fielding percentage is now a worthless stat. The ball hit him in the GLOVE. That play has to be made! h2oface 1
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 (edited) The red in the players' weekend Twins unis looks a little too orange. I think they always have too much yellow (which makes them orange) in them. Even this year's model of the red tops they wear at home this year some. But these... even more so, I agree. Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 It is a shame that Mrs Riverbrian isn't given a spot on the TD Op-Ed page to share her perspective every now and again. She wrote the "I do" being the longest line. USAFChief 1
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Ah finally, a horrendous throw by Rosario to the wrong base. I missed it USAFChief and spinowner 2

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Polanco just isn't a big league SS.
GCTF Verified Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I was going to college in Baltimore when the Colts won the Grey Cup in the small era of the mid-90s when the CFL invaded the US. They somehow squeezed a 55-yard line and bigger endzones into Memorial Stadium.Baltimore Stallions. Would have also accepted Baltimore CFLers.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 -Colon really likes giving up solo HRs, doesn't he?-Good to see Garver with the XBH and immediately have Kepler hit him in.-Polanco needs to be playing 2B-Rosario with yet another throw off-target. Ugh. spinowner and USAFChief 2

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Make a pitch here, Bartolo, and get out of the inning.
spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Looking at Dantes929's sig line:Don't Sweat the Small Stuff ... and it's all small stuff. The way I heard it was this way: Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things. USAFChief and PDX Twin 2

spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Colon comes off the mound with a bit of a grin on his face like he had the shot to center field planned that way all along.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Thank God for Bux in CF. I don't care if he bats 160, he saves them so many runs. spinowner and 70charger 2
70charger Verified Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Yeah that head shake at the end by Colon says it all. Buck made a non-easy play look real easy right there. spinowner 1
