bird Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Doves, probably the dumbest bird I've ever run across. Pigeons, though, not much more than winged rats. Anyway, and I cannot remember what they are, but my wife and I catch site of a flock of tropical birds on occasion. We think they must have escaped from somewhere and bred, because they certainly are not native to Bakersfield. It's amusing to see these brightly colored birds that look like they belong in a movie that is set in the tropics hanging around our redwoods. There are over 30 species of parakeets and parrots that have made it out of the pet stores and into the wild in the southern states. They roost communally at night. Sometimes noisily. Blake 1
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 well that was a fun play has the whole game been like that?
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 (edited) That makes two runners you would have gotten thrown out at home this inning. Talk about a rally killer! Only your opinion. Prince Fielder could have scored on that. Maybe even Albert Pujols! Escobar was almost to third when Smith finally fielded the ball, and he stood on third and watched the ball come in. There was only one out, anyway, so hardly a rally to kill. It doesn't even matter now, but I see Glynn send Sano when there is no chance, and hold Buxton (or Escobar) when the speed can be utilized. Just my opinion, too. And I have that right. Fact is, we will never know. Edited July 7, 2017 by h2oface
Blake Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 If there's one thing I don't like it's that he definitely gets wordy. But he does know what he's talking about, and some of the technical stuff is pretty interesting. No doubt. I like the rotation the Twins seem to have in the booth now, with Morris, Bert, Hunter, Smalley and Hawkins.
Darius Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Buxton might finally be connecting some dots at the plate. Hopefully, some XHBs will follow shortly.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Dozier's mediocre season continues.

Once in a great while, I'll catch an owl roosting in the top of one of our trees. It's interesting to see a barrel of feathers perched on the very top of a tree. And, I saw a hawk take a dove in our backyard a few weeks ago. I saw a pile of feathers on the ground, wondered what was going on and wandered up just in time to see the hawk take off with its prey. Pretty much how nature works. Get lots of prey and the predators show up.
jun Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Orioles has 11 pitchers and 14 hitters. Twins has 13 pitchers and 12 hitters. Twins might as well cut Pressly and Belisle (two of worst relievers this year) and bring up Granite and any young talented reliever.
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Little late after his hit, but Buxton is hitting .258 since starting the season 2 for 49. spinowner and DocBauer 2
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Maybe the umpire could call a pitch a strike if it's right over the heart of the plate. Did anyone else see that? h2oface 1
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I'm not sure why the Twins are trusting Duffey in a high leverage situation like this, he's been really bad the last few weeks. They have other options...
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 yes he did, we dodged the proverbial bullet
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Gonna have to do it once more.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Duffey clearly is not as sharp as April and May. Could be workload. Over 40 relief IP already. Kind of a lot. Not a ton. But for a guy who's been a starter the last 5 years it is.
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 No prob. Good job by Duffey. I've become very comfortable with him in this role.

Not a good example to follow. But, I'd still like to see them get rid of some bullpen dead-weight and give Busenitz, Bard, Curtis, etc some innings. Blake 1

Guest Guests Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Maybe our sports teams should be named for our state bird. So which team gets to be called the Loons? Who's going to be the Skeeters?

Stop saying this, you dolt. He hopes the Twins score 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th and it's not a save situation. Puckett34, glunn and spinowner 3
