Blake Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Not a bird you'd see up here this far north and in the city. I used to feed the birds on my balcony ... mostly for live cat TV ... mostly got house finches, a few cardinals, had a single rose-breasted grosbeak once, must've been lost, then the morning doves started showing up. I drew the line there and stopped. Besides being incredibly messy, the next step after morning dove was pigeon, if they made it up that high to the 11th floor. My parents always had a lot of birds in their backyard, from humming birds to wild turkeys, was always interesting to see what showed up to their various feeders. There is a bird sanctuary not too far from me, but I've never been.Doves, probably the dumbest bird I've ever run across. Pigeons, though, not much more than winged rats. Anyway, and I cannot remember what they are, but my wife and I catch site of a flock of tropical birds on occasion. We think they must have escaped from somewhere and bred, because they certainly are not native to Bakersfield. It's amusing to see these brightly colored birds that look like they belong in a movie that is set in the tropics hanging around our redwoods.

drock2190 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 (edited) I think if someone said in April that Buxton's batting average would be within 10 points of Machado's in July, we'd all be delighted!! Edited July 7, 2017 by drock2190 70charger 1

drock2190 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Maybe not Machado. Last 4 years he's hit .270 or better. Plus he really broke out last year.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 If Mauer were in the game that would've been a solo homerun. Jerr 1
Minnesotatwins005 Provisional Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Quality baseball right there.
Minnesotatwins005 Provisional Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 If anyone was in the game at first base that would have been a solo home run.

Darius Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Looks like we're well on the way to another Little League mental defensive lapse costing another game in the standings. That's exciting.

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I'm not sure if I'm doing this birdwatching thing correctly.... Just zooming in on my computer screen with binoculars. http://mpchristianity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/man-looking-through-binoculars-600x360.jpg Based on birdwatcher's comments, I guess we're doing it wrong. Try looking through the other end of the binoculars. bird and Squirrel 2

Except a lot more murders, thanks to that TV show and such.

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Bremer needs to have his eye glass prescription updated. That ball was 15 feet short and 10 feet foul. wsnydes 1
jun Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 285 AB Sano has 113 strikeouts before today's game. He just collected another strikeout at his first AB today. And he just made a costly error which led to an unearned run. Lately Sano is playing like anything but an all-star. He has been an easy out lately just like Polanco.
mrmpls Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Roy Smalley to me is the worst color man in baseball, Anyone but him please!!
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Berrios no es bueno esta noche. wsnydes 1
Don Walcott Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Great play by Polanco. Kepler and Polanco kept that inning from getting ugly. Now, we need Berrios to locate his curveball.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 (edited) Wow. What a dumb throw. Too bad they can't charge mental errors. Edited July 7, 2017 by yarnivek1972 wsnydes 1
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 This is some really ugly baseball so far.
Darius Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I'm not sure I can recall a time in Dozier's career when he has effectively moved a base runner without getting a hit.

drock2190 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 So far we've seen Buxton, Sano and Kepler go opposite field this inning.
