On short notice, Five things:

 

 

1. Two cows are standing next to each other in a field. Daisy says to Dolly, "I was artificially inseminated this morning." "I don't believe you," says Dolly. "It's true, no bull!" exclaims Daisy.

 

2.  An invisible man marries an invisible woman. The kids were nothing to look at either.

 

3.  I went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn’t find any.

 

4.  Two fish swim into a concrete wall. The one turns to the other and says Dam!"

 

5.  The Twins are carrying 13 pitchers.

My uncle died recently, drowned in a vat of Jameson. He held out as long as he could, pushing away everyone who tried to save him.

No sooner does Cory describe in depth the struggles of Cabrera does he launch one out.  These guys are timely on their calls lately.

I don't mind the Detroit announcers. I do mind pulling up the game just in time to see Cabrera take Hughes deep.

Except that it removes the ability to platoon based on hitting match-ups.  For his career, Castro OPS's .547 against lefties with a .247 wOBA and 53 wRC+.  Against righties, he's .755, .330, and 109.  In plain english, he's a AA player against lefties, and an above-average MLBer against righties.

 

They're not platooning at catcher to begin with.   Castro is going to get 110+ games behind the plate, so he isn't going to sit vs. 100% of LHP.  Giminez gets 30 or so starts with Hughes on the mound (some of them will undoubtedly be against LHP) and another 15-20 games, which hardly removes the ability for Molitor to rest Castro sometimes vs. LHP.

The Twins need to find a way to wipe the smug off the faces of Detroit. Granted, Detroit has earned a bit of "taking the Twins lightly" but still....

To the max extent possible, they should be.

 

Castro can't catch every day, we all understand that.

 

I haven't looked, but if Castro is in tomorrow against a LH pitcher, I shall be very put out.

In 2012 there were 137 lefties, and 354 righties, or 72% righties.  That means, statistically speaking, the Twins will face 116 righty starters, so if Castro is playing 110 games, he could theoretically sit against every lefty.

 

That being said, the bigger issue is one you acknowledged--if Gimenez is handcuffed to Hughes, it follows that there will undoubtedly be games where Hughes is opposing a righty, which means we will not be batting our best hitting catcher.  Or what if there's a series where the opposing team is starting a lefty in games 1 and 3, and Hughes is pitching in game 2--do you start Gimenez 3 straight games, or do you play Castor against a lefty, where he's not good?

It does, $24.99 monthly for TV, and you have to be out of market.  The radio subscription I believe is 24.99 for the entire year, and I'm not sure about the market requirements.  Since I live in Seattle, I don't really pay attention to blackout policies when it comes to Minnesota teams.

I use the radio subscription to listen to Twins games & I live in MN. I don't believe there are any blackout restrictions on the radio transmissions.

Hughes, by my count, got away with three very hittable pitches that inning. I think he's lucky he got out of there with only 1 run scored.
