I was never fond of the Ray Miller as manager era - although it's lack of success did hasten the advent of the Tom Kelly as manager era.

Ron Davis had some epic blown saves, but if you look at his numbers, he doesn't warrant "Worst Twin Ever" status.

How the **** does Sean Bergman go unnamed in this thread?!? You all should be ashamed.

Or Jose Offerman. He's not even top 10 worst Twin material, but it's just so much fun to say 'Awfulman'.

I've followed the Twins for a long time. Here's some other names: Willie Norwood, Larry Milbourne, Tommy Herr, Terry Ryan's veteran of the year--Livan Hernandez, Ramon Ortiz, Sidney Ponson, Jason Marquis--Ron Davis, Dave Stevens, Steve Howe, Scott Stahoviak, Rich Becker, and Terry Felton.

I would argue that Stevens, Becker, and (gasp)..even Ron Davis had some decent moments. Gotta add Butch Huskey and Mike Lamb to the list.

I don't like getting involved in critizing baseball players who have a hundred times the talent I ever had. BUT, I remember watching Cleatus Davidson play thinking, I paid money to watch this guy play! A very small sample size (12 games, 22 at bats), .273 ops. I never forget being a Twin's fan in the mid-late '90s.

It's an interesting question and the answer depends, I guess, on expectations, salary and usage. For Twins manager, no one comes close to Ray Miller. He was a disaster and nearly drove me from being a baseball fan. For position players, I'd list OF Bobby Mitchell, OF in '82-83, playing 183G for .244/.337/.310. Also considered with be OF Billy Beane, 92G, .217/.258/.303. The winner would be 1B/OF David McCarty (with Twins) 167G .226/.275/.310. Pitching, I'd list Carlos Pulido, '03-'04, 19G, 14GS, 3-8 w-l, 5.98 ERA, 3.8 W/9 and 3.8 K/9; and Scott Aldred in '96-97, 8-15 w-l 6.10 ERA, 3.2 w/9 and 4.9 K/9. Willie Banks is mentioned too based up expectations.

The legendary Ron Davis.

25+ years since he played for the Twins and seeing his name in print still angers up the blood.

I can't believe no one's mentioned Wally Backman.

A .591 OPS and OPS + of 63 and an ******* to make him even worse.

+1, but ironically a reason to hate Tommy Herr even more. TH's failure led to the Twins

trading for Backman. At least it was just prospects instead of a popular member

of a WS winner like Brunansky/Herr.

Juan Castro, who is still dead last on the Baseball Reference voting thingy.

Some of my nominees are: Tommy Herr, Tony Batista, Henry Blanco, Rondell White, Ruben Sierra, Matt Walbeck, Sidney Ponson, Mike Lamb and Jason Marquis.

I think it has to be Nishi. No one mentioned Brett Merriman. I agree whole heartedly with Klingbeck, Stahoviak, McCarty, Nieto, Sal Butera.

Which Ortiz sucked? Junior or J.R.? I can't remember.

few good ones mentioned already..how about JD 'the real deal' Durbin, or Luis Ayala. Man, Dusty Hughes was some kind of awful last year. Jason Marquis was worse than Nick Blackburn. And Adam Johnson was pretty terrible for a #2 overall draft pick.

Need to list everyone the Twins got in the Tim Tueffle trade. Billy Beane, Bill Latham and Joe Klink were all awful. Of course the Tueffle trade led to the promotion of inadaquate Steve Lombardozzi which led to the Brunansky/Herr trade everyone is still upset about.

Anger, sadness, heartburn. How many times he broke our hearts and yes I did feel awful for him. No one wanted to be in his pants.

Latroy Hawkins 1.0 as the starter was pretty bad too.

Most damage done? Ron Davis.

But I have to say no player in my 50 years of watching thr Twins has looked as inept over a three game series as Nishioka looked over the past three days. A travesty, a sham, and a mockery of epic proportions. A traveshamockery!

Seriously...when have you seen a major league infielder have a worse series? Multiple errors? Yeah. But this?

Does a bad Mascot count??

Sidney Ponson has to be up there. I remember I was at the last game he played for the Twins, when he gave up like 10 runs to the bluejays. My cousin and I said **** it by the 5th inning and went to play cards at Canterbury.

David McCarty, if not one of the worst Twins was certainly one of the most disappointing considering his draft position and how well he hit in the minors.
