  1. Any thoughts that the Twins will spend the minimum and throw these 3 guys in to round out the 2022 SP rotation behind: 1. Joe Ryan 2. Baily Ober 3. Smeltzer? 4. Dobnack? 5. Thorpe?
  2. This topic may have been brought up already, but I don't see the thread. Will there be a Twins 2020 season this year? What are the most up to date details? Arizona? Florida? Away from families for 10 months?
  3. Will the governor extend social distancing past May 4th?
  4. Who cares about the option. Sano has been playing horribly, send him down. bring him back up when rosters expand in Sept.
  5. I also like the idea of sending Park down and pushing Sano down a bit in the lineup. Park looks over matched at the plate. At least Sano has proven himself up here before.
  6. Not too bad, pretty much expected. Let's see if the starting rotation can build from the big improvements last year. (Specifically ERA) A full season of Santana and Gibson looking sharp should increase the K/9 marginally right? We all know Nolasco can't be relied on for a full season. When do people see Berrios coming up, assuming he starts out strong in AAA?
  7. Mauer Power Bilateral Arm Weakness Mauer.
  8. Sano will be in the OF or 3B. Mauer and Park will share 1B/DH. Vargas sits on the bench, or vegetates in the minors.
  9. Arcia has got to be waaaay better defensively before he can think about playing in the MLB again. Keep him in AAA to start the year, and trade him when the HRs come. I'd rather settle for a new mediocre prospect then terrible miss-plays in the OF. So many other things to look forward to this year.
  10. I could see a 6 man rotation, seems like the Twins way...
  11. Too much money invested to start him out in the pen. He needs work/innings.
  12. Casey Fien? Why would Plef ever pitch the 8th inning? Boyer is probably next in line after Fien. I see Malone moving to the pen again. Plef. still hasn't done enough to get knocked out of the rotation yet. Next 2 weeks should be interesting...if only our starters could miss a few more bats.
  13. Nolasco isn't going anywhere now, duh! He is the only SP that can strike out guys. Hughes has regressed and doesn't have the ks anymore. I feel like Nolasco could end the year as the Twins best SP.
  14. I think it will be Pelf in the rotation as the # 5 guy now, but no kidding. Couldn't have ****ed that one up more...
  15. I bet Theilbar is gone. He had his one good year, time to go.
  16. Tim Stauffer is out of the rotation race and headed to the bullpen. What does this mean for the remaining contenders for the 5th starter spot in a very shaky and volatile starting staff!?
  17. Nick, I just want to say that you are amazing. I have followed your blog since 2009 and have thoroughly enjoyed it all the way. The attention brought up recently, negative or positive, only reiterates how good of a writer, blogger, analyzer you are. I too thought you were affiliated with the Twins at one point, but that's newb talk....you always keep it real and address the issues that matter most, by getting right down to the point! Keep up the good work Nick!!!!
  18. Bring up May and Meyer now!!! Let Deduno transfer to SP. DFA Correia and Plefrey. Stick Nolasco in the pen. I should be the GM for the twins. Short leash for everyone!!
  19. Mauer will be fine. People are jumping to conclusions too early in the season. He will hit 20 HRs and get on base at a .400 rate again this year, just watch.
  20. To me in terms of offense, it all comes down to the 3 young guns: Hicks, Arcia, and Pinto. If these guys can't do it, we are doomed. All 3 have to perform well to the tune of at least 20 HR's, 80 RBI's, and a ~.270 batting average. Somehow we gotta avoid k's and draw more walks with this bunch. Everyone else in the lineup has done it before, and you kinda know what you are getting.
  21. I just still don't know how this team is going to score runs. That's a terribly weak infield with Mauer being the only one who can do anything. How can you predict Dozier will have a year like he did before? Very low low power in the infield:/ I would like to ditch Plouffe and Florimon. And just because a player is out of options doesn't mean we HAVE to stick with them. Get rid of some of this dead weight (especially with our catcher options) I completely agree with thoughts about keeping Pinto up here and developing him...I only feel happy about our bullpen at this point.
  22. No disrespect, but it looks like bad bubble players completing for spots already taken by bad locked in players. **** competing for ****. The Twins will be lucky if they have a player hit 15 Hrs and break 80 RBIs this season. As much as the SP improved, the offense looks so meek still as has the last few years. I say bring in the young guns asap! (Buxton, Sano, Pinto) Give them a chance, they did it with Hicks, why not these guys who have a higher ceiling and were looked at better 5-tool players? People are going to say they arn't ready for the MLB, but what do we have to lose? It can't get any worse. I hate to see young players preform so well and then sent back down to the MiB because they "don't have enough AB's to give them." Bull. Stats have already been displayed to prove, so I don't feel I need to back myself up.
  23. TK just needs to go away. He doesn't stop talking and he is very boring and draining to listen to.
