POTUS Donald Trump

I really, really doubt Pence would say something like.

For one thing, he is about as slick as they come, and would never utter a blunder like that, IMO.

And that's what makes him so much more dangerous than Trump, again IMO.

It's also a preposterous statement for anyone even pretending to be a Christian. And I generally think he has sincere faith, to the point any politician can.

On your second point, I really disagree. Pence is slick and would be able to pass legislation abhorrent to liberals, but it would still be done within a legal and generally accepted framework of our system. If he went too far, that could be a rally for Dems im the next election. That stuff swings back and forth.

Trump is way too high beta on his actions and competence, and the damage he has done is not going to be undone through legislation. He is a unique menace to the future of our country.

IOW, I tried (for my usual 30 seconds) without success to locate confirmation of this quote. It's being passed around a lot, sure. Quotes that are just too good to be true oftentimes are.

So you are saying I should not believe the posts he is saying "Luke, I am your father", "My Precious", and "I will not be ignored!".

Pence probably is too savvy to say the sinner-workplace statement, at least in public.  He sure is doing his best not to be tainted by most of the Trump controversies, so he can look relatively unscathed and innocent  if Donald does go down.

The problem with poor dumb white people is that they continue to pop out 6-7 poor white kids on a generational basis. 80% of those kids will end up just like their parents did.

Us "liberal" elites on the other hand actually understand the value of family planning and only have 2-3 kids on average. It's because of this that the religious right and far right will always have a pretty strong base along the Bible Belt.

I was in Florida earlier this week for some spring training, I saw multiple children under the age of 6 wearing fully garbed out confederate flag wear: t-shirt, hats etc

These kids will never stand a chance IMO, their stupid parents have been feeding them this nonsense since birth.

It was thought that internet and its vast and unlimited wealth of knowledge might give everyone some deeper insight to other cultures, which was a noble thought. But as we see now with the Brietbarts and the like, it just serves to reconfirm the prejudices and racisms that exist amongst the poor, dumb, whites.

I don't know what the solution is to this perpetual cycle, I guess we gotta just continue the good fight and celebrate our small victories where we can: gay rights, decriminalizatio of the whacky tobacky etc

8 years ago Dems had President, filibuster proof Senate, House, majority of Governors, State Houses, etc.

The country didn't change that much, things just go in cycles. Dems didn't do much for non-college educated whites over that time and got smoked. Work hard in the mid terms and nominate a better candidate and they'll be fine in 2020. It's not like Trump is all that popular.

Well, to be fair ... who ever does anything for poor, less-educated whites? Republican policies do NOTHING for them, and actually makes them worse off; candidates spouting platitudes and lying to them to make them believe someone is listening isn't doing anything for them, either.

I would argue over the last 40-50 years both parties have done plenty of damage to the poor and less educated in their own ways.  The Dems do at least talk about wanting to help though, I'll give them that.

With the upcoming healthcare disaster I imagine this new class of swing voter (the disenfranchised middle and lower middle class) will probably oust a lot of these Republicans.

I suppose at some point even a con man looks attractive.

Perhaps Hillary's mistake was she wasn't very good at pretending.

In the end I think people just want to believe what they want to believe.

And that's sad as those who get elected are those who play the con the best.

I don't like reading comments after a political article, I sort of stumbled upon this from Pseudos article link.

I would believe this to be an accurate assessment. The Paul Boy's are no better than the rest of them.

Had Ryan and his cronies been running congress at the turn of the 1900's we'd be under the fourth or fifth generation of the Rockefeller or Carnegie ruling empires by now.

Carnegie gave us all free libraries though, so at least HE would have let all his subjects get educated.

The new health care act scares me. Absolutely scares me.

Scares me and infuriates me.

After working for just short of a decade with the most severely mentally ill that are allowed to live independently, I know that many of them long desperately to be able to have a productive job. The alterations to Medicaid will mean that if any person would ever find meaningful enough work to no longer qualify for Medicaid via income at any point, they could not qualify for Medicaid again without undergoing a full disability evaluation to qualify for disability Medicaid. That process can take a year or more to get through, meaning those persons could be without medical insurance to afford mental health medication for a year or more while the system attempts to figure out if that person is worthy again of being deemed disabled due to their mental illness (something that will become more difficult due to having even one period of work with enough hours/income to drop Medicaid, let alone the 9 in a rolling 18 month time frame required to drop someone from the Medicaid roles). Smart idea to ensure mentally ill cannot get their needed medication...

Meanwhile, the new bill gives incredible tax breaks to the wealthy, to insurance companies and to pharma companies. Yes, Republicans, please tell us how the ACA targeted the poor, elderly, and disabled and your new plan will help them all...

I saw a clip of Paul Ryan responding to millions of people losing their health care by saying - those will be people who had been forced to have health care  Basically saying that they will be happier with no coverage.  All the time he had his smug smirk.  I don't think he loses any sleep over his constituents being in any sort of duress or not having their basic needs met.

Well correct me if I'm wrong, but I think kickbacks from Big Pharma can include a lifetime supply of Ambien to help fix those sleepless nights.

Along with truckloads of "campaign contributions" of course.

I know this is the POTUS Trump thread, but at this point it seems like it also serves as a politics thread.

This is a commercial I caught on CNN a few times in the last week or so. It gave me a good chuckle and made me happy.

Here we go.

Edit - apparently only 2005.

Maddow overplayed the hype; not much to see.  The guest on her show suggested that Trump leaked the document himself.

I think she might have overplayed her hand a bit in this one.  Some great speculation what is he hiding, but doing a big build up for the first twenty minutes just to reveal the two page 1040 without the schedules not revealing anything except he paid a 25% rate is probably just going to get Trump to brag at how much he paid in taxes that year.

I am seeing a lot of Al Capone vault references.

Looks like Don Jr. is starting with the bragging:

Thank you Rachel Maddow for proving to your #Trump hating followers how successful @realDonaldTrump is & that he paid $40mm in taxes! #Taxes

There was nothing to see on the Maddow show. I sort of feel like the network pushed this one on her. Maybe MSNBC's ratings are in the tank. Either way it sort of stoked Trump's fire in my mind. It certainly did not hurt him.

You need to get all of the incriminating goods on this guy if you have a chance to take him down. Every ****ing minute, miniscule, microscopic detail on this guys awful ways. You need the biggest bulldozer to load up his pile of **** and lay it on him.

Trump is the modern day Houdini. His trapped doors need to be found and cemented in.

His crimes are out there - they just need to be verified in the right way.
