jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Disagree about Gant. Look at 0:44 to 0:45. Hrbek applies the tag and maintains contact. Hrbek is not lifting Gant when Gant loses his balance and loses contact with the base. After that happens Hrbek lifts Gant, but Gant was already out before that happened. And Hrbek never falls over. The video is even more convincing that Hrbek pulled Gant off the bag. Notice Hrbek has a leg braced behind him. No way does he need to fall backward - his balance was centered perfectly. But instead of remaining centered, Hrbek moved his butt backwards and lifted as he made the catch. A beautiful wrestling move, but it should have been called interference. He got away with it because he integrated the move with the catch, shifting his weight back and up. What Hrbek did would be familiar to any NFL wide receiver or NBA center. Big guys learn to move their opponent out of the way with clever footwork. This in no way diminishes my love for Kenta. One of the nicest guys in sports. He pulled a good one on that play.

HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Awright, which one of you clowns jinxed Tommy's no-no? Isn't it rich? / Are we a pair? / Me here, at last, on the ground / You in mid-air… Then it goes into a "bliss" thing. Ain't going there.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Milone is quietly pitching a very good game. Shhhh....
spinowner Provisional Member Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 A beautiful wrestling move, but it should have been called interference. No, for two reasons. First, a nit-pick. Interference is when an offensive player impedes a fielder who is making a play on the ball, whereas obstruction is when a fielder impedes a baserunner. Second, the rules defer to the fielder in this case. If the fielder is making a play on the ball or has the ball he is entitled to hold his position. That's all Hrbek did.

glunn Community Moderator Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I am hoping that Kepler never has to go back to Rochester.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 First grand slam of the year? Kep must already have 20 ABs with the sacks juiced. It was going to happen.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 ROYOh good grief. What'd Smalley say now??
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I am hoping that Kepler never has to go back to Rochester. You have plenty of agreement on that one, glunn!

drivlikejehu Verified Member Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Wow. How do we pwn the Rangers so hard lol. To be fair, the Rangers record substantially exceeds their BaseRuns record, so it's a little less odd than it appears. Just a little though.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I am hoping that Kepler never has to go back to Rochester. But what if Rochester gets to the playoffs? Hehehehehehehe.....
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Odor is a player. Reminds me of Rosario.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Impressive! Vargas has a nice AB to earn the free pass and Kepler waits on the right pitch and nails it! Impressive by both youngsters.
