Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 These Twins games are coming full circle and becoming must-see appointment television again (albeit for the wrong reasons). Five or six game win streaks are more fun, and they always begin with the first win. Come on, boys, get mad today!
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Author Posted May 25, 2016 I can't believe Mauer batting 3rd is the least objectionable thing about the lineup to me. Speaking of, I wonder what the lowest SLG ever was for a #3 hitter over an entire season? Has there ever been one who had a higher OBP than SLG?The first person I thought of was John Olerud. He was close a few times. But I don't know if he was batting third those seasons. He might have been in 1995. (.398 OBP and .404 SLG).
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Per the pre game: Perkins to 60 Day DL, Mastro to 15 day DL (rib cage), Boshers to Minnesota. That's an odd number... and the other accompanying move? (Feel free to condescend...)
scottz Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 We can't lose if we don't play! C'mon, rain!
David HK Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Oh, and another scintillating Molly lineup I'll miss, too, including Brian Men-dozier in the 2 hole. Great thinking there. Maybe they can just let Duffey bat.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I try not to be quite so polemical in setting these up. And humor (or attempts at it) go a long way. Play to your strengths... deadpan... heavy on the deadpan...

Circus Boy Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 We can't lose if we don't play! C'mon, rain! Yeah, but statistics show we only have a 75 percent chance of losing. So I'm tellin' ya there's a chance.
Comrade Bork Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 God that lineup looks awful. I'm not saying there's anything else to be done to improve it. It just sucks!!! It's like a AAA team!I bet if the entire Rochester team was playing this year instead of the twins they would have more than 11 wins.

Thankfully Mauer still has a nice .055 cushion to his career SLG. But he's trending in the wrong direction and September 2018 is still a long ways away!
Blake Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I see we're on the same page with this.
mickeymental Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Question for the experts: Are all games made up or only the ones that will affect final standings? In other words, is it possible the Twins will not have to make up this game, should it be rained out, if it will not affect the final standing of the Royals?the 1962 mets -- the gold standard of ineptitude -- played only 160 games on their way to 120 losses.
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I bet if the entire Rochester team was playing this year instead of the twins they would have more than 11 wins.Nuh uh.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Butera would be one of our better hitters if we still had him. Sad but true.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Just a couple of minutes down the light rail line at the VA hospital it's not raining. I'll miss this one as my next appointment is at 1 pm. Been a constant parade to this place for a month. Hoping to get some good news today. Good News Wishes being sent your way from me.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Dick's been predicting great things from Duffey and Sano today. His predictions have been, shall we say, less than accurate this season.
Blake Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Amazing, Duffey had batters reaching for pitches out of the zone. I didn't know that could be done. Is that legal? Edit: Just noticed, the opposing team didn't score in the first inning! And the Twins scored first!! I see cats, dogs and hysteria!!
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Game Thread posters are unusually salty this afternoon. Hurry-- we must take refuge in the Food and Other Such Holidays Thread!
Blake Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Okay, that was funny: Dick: "Joe Mauer, whatta ya got?"
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 That's an odd number... and the other accompanying move? (Feel free to condescend...)Perkins was already off the 25 man roster (on 15 day DL.) So his move to the 60 day opened up a 40 man spot for Boshers. Mastro off 25 man, Boshers on.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Damn it Dozier PULLING THE BALL AGAIN
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 On the other hand, the Law of Thirds is on our side. Very hard for even the worst teams to lose more than two thirds of their games...
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I see we're on the same page with this. I post enough that I've been on the same page with myself... many many times.
JaleelWhite FanClub Provisional Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Well his probable 0-4, 2K day waiting ahead makes total sense for the top of the Twins order this year. I nailed it!!! Men-Dozier was obviously motivated after reading my post.
Blake Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 On the other hand, the Law of Thirds is on our side. Very hard for even the worst teams to lose more than two thirds of their games...I dunno, the Twins are making a run at it.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 And Murphy hasn't lit AAA up. In fact he has been terrible there.Murphy's being overrated was clear at the time of that trade, though. Yankee mystique strikes again? Apparently it's able to inflate your offensive stats for your entire major and minor career with NY, but the moment you leave, they deflate. There's got to be a Tom Brady joke in here somewhere.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I post enough that I've been on the same page with myself... many many times. Better stop before you go blind.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I like the way Grossman flips the bat back and forth in front and behind his helmet. It's kinda cute.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS On Saturday, Houston went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. After a short slump, he is now back over .290 on the season. Explore Marek Houston News >
