spinowner Provisional Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 For those wondering about all the Jays fans in attendance, it's Victoria Day here in Canada on Monday so it's a long weekend.Bus tours like crazy from Northwestern Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.Do me a favour.....keep them, I don't really want them back. It's totally fine with me for them to come down and fuel the local economy. And it's currently $0.76 US to $1.00 Canadian besides, so it's not like it's a good investment for those north of the 49th. I just hope the good guys can win again tomorrow. While the tourists may not be pleased with the outcome of today's game I don't think the loss will be enough to make a good Canadian unhappy, especially with the wide variety of tasty barley pop available in the Twin Cities.

If those crazy Jays fans let a loss get in the way of a good time in the Twin Cities, they don't deserve to be there.

They are all over Grand Forks. The Tim Horton's or Timmies as you call it is calling for backup.

Anyways, I'll be writing tomorrow's game thread and this time I'll join you guys in the thread. Let's hope we can get a second win!
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I am happy we didn't lose. Sorry my attention was diverted... Probably will also allow my attention to wander tomorrow, too... But i'll try to chime in early.

And, probably not much of a threat, either.
Blake Verified Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I'm late to the thread, well after the game is over. I chose playing with my brand new pressure washer over watching the Twins. Even though the Twins won, I still think I made the right call.
David HK Verified Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Well, another day game, and I snoozed right through it. I'm not sure, tho, my tolerance is so low these days, I probably wouldn't have made it to the 8th inning rally, having found something more interesting to do by then, like count the number of grains in the salt shaker. But here you go, boys, congratulations.

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Who was Victoria Day? And why do they celebrate her?Queen Victoria smart guy. Originally it was celebrated on her actual birthday but stores in Grand Forks and Fargo banded together and petitioned the Canadian government to make it on the Monday preceding May 25 so that Canadians would come there on mass and spend all their money because they had nothing else to do.
formerly33 Verified Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Who was Victoria Day? And why do they celebrate her?If the Canadians celebrate Victoria Day, why do they all leave in a hurry when she's in town? I'm confused ...
