Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I read a pretty compelling conspiracy theory that New Coke was designed to fail. As the theory goes, Coke was switching from sugar to the much cheaper corn syrup but knew folks would flip out. So instead they changed the entire formula knowing there would be riots. After a few months of looting and anarchy they "caved in" and brought back original Coke -wink wink-* and everyone rejoiced.*wink = corn syrupThat does sound feasible and it would not surprise me. glunn 1

And i'm trying to come up with a clever Dr. Strangelove reference to insinuate into the conversation... Any suggestions? Riverbrian 1

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 and I flew across the front table… knocking every drink off that table... ending up face first in some surprised girls lap with my feet up in the air... For some reason (probably because it's funny? not sure) this reminded me of the scene in Naked Gun when Leslie Nielsen slides across the table with Queen Elizabeth, so I was going to post a jpeg of that photo....... but then I made the naive mistake of googling: "Naked gun queen elizabeth" uh oh http://basementrejects.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/naked-gun-from-the-files-of-police-squad-frank-drebin-tackles-queen-elizabeth-leslie-nielsen-jeannette-charles-review.jpg glunn and Riverbrian 2
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I believe that's how they make Coke Zero Coke Zero is unique amongst pops in that it has both the brand name, and the amount of flavor in that name. Riverbrian, HitInAPinch and ScrapTheNickname 3

The same method was used by Selig and Pohlad using Charlotte, North Carolina instead of sugar. Platoon and Winston Smith 2

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 And ... that is how you met your wife, Brian? Or ... is that another story? That's another story but I did meet my wife when she got all dolled up on a Saturday Night and showed up at a small bar we were playing in Donaldson, Minnesota. It was a gig that we didn't even get paid for... We just liked the owner and he let us drink for free so we packed everything into the corner of a small bar called the Bear's Den. It was fate and my wife often thinks about that night and the odds of us getting together at random like that. She has reached the point after nearly 26 years where she is now wondering OUT LOUD why she didn't go to a different bar. 70charger, Platoon, ScrapTheNickname and 4 others 7
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 If Danny Santana is 0-10 batting right-handed, why would we let him bat against lefties?
