Losing Seasons Streak is Over

The Season isn't over... More wins to get but with the 81st win.

I think a thread to say something nice is worth it.

Oh... and I'll steal any chance for someone to type this:

"Something Nice"

$10 to me on the bet I made with a buddy that the Twins would be .500 or better.    I hope he gives me cash, which is as good as money.  :)    Thanks for justifying my optimism, Twins!

The Twins above .500 violates the three laws of Physics, Guy.

The Twins above .500 violates the three laws of Physics, Guy.

I assume you are referring to Newton's 3 Laws of Motion.

1st Law - Law of Inertia - Once you get Sano (or Vargas) moving, you aren't stopping him.

2nd Law - F = ma - The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the force applied and inversely proportional to the mass of the object.  Once again, I'll apply Miguel.  He is clearly applying more force to the baseball than we've seen in the Twins dugout since Morneau was healthy.  Twins already have 152 HR compared to 128 last year.

3rd Law - For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.  Twins record has gone up as the Tigers have tanked this year.  Most media types didn't see that coming.

Good enough???

This is about ten more wins than I expected out of them this season.

Yep, you, me and a lot of others, as well.  I'm more than happy to eat that filet-o-crow-under-glass.

Absolutely!

If I had said "Newton's 3 Laws of Motion",  that would have bleeped-up an already bleeped-up joke.

2011 was a lost season due to injuries where we promoted so many guys that hadn't earned a spot that for much of the season we literally were a bad AAA team.   2012 was a season to see who could come back from injuries and contribute (not many).    From that low point two seasons to turn things around really isn't that lengthy a time period for those in it for the long haul.

Before the season I didn't predict records but odds of winning the division.    I had the Tigers at 30%, the Twins at 10% and the rest at 20% each.   With :Duffy, Berrios and Buxton primed to contribute next year along with a full year of Escobar, Hicks, Sano and May in the rotation, hopefully we won't see a losing season for a while.

Yogi's 3 Laws of Motion. (I really don't think he's coming to my funeral, now.)

1st Law - Law of Inertia - If you can't get it going, how are you ever going to stop it?

2nd Law - F = ma - If you're going to speed up something heavy, you'd better slow down first or else you might force it.

3rd Law - For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction - yeah, you try managing a clubhouse sometime and see how freaking easy it is.

As for the 81st win - I am happy to have my mid-season forecast now exceeded by 1, and hopefully by several more before season's end. I was a bit afraid to jinx it until we got past 80. After 90-loss seasons, this is a success.

I'm naturally optimistic - pretty sure I expected good things at the start of the season.

Santana's suspension, the the 2-6 start probably put a temporary damper on my enthusiasm though.

Love to see a team built from the farm upwards.

Here's one I think you'll like; Newton's Laws (and many others) can be derived from something called The Principle of Least Action.

Look it up if you overcome inertia.

Hey Everybody, even though last night's loss still stings and even though the Wild Card is slipping through the team's fingers right now, let's take a breather for a moment and appreciate that the first game of the doubleheader sealed the Twins' fate for 2015 - the first winning season since 2010!

I am pumped for the last 4 games, whatever the end result, because the Twins are relevant again and after four seasons of 90 plus losses, they are now knocking on the door of the postseason.

ok, now I can go back to being upset that the Twins lost last night....

I was very happy last night when they won the first game for the same reason. It is all gravy for me from here on out.  I was one of the doubters that thought they could achieve 80 wins this year.  I was thinking around 72 as a best case scenario.  They surprised me and it has been a fun season regardless of what happens at the end.
