Like I said, Eddie is not currently a good MLB hitter, as evidenced by his overall line, and by watching him swing at too many pitches out of the strike zone.  That catches up to you.

They simply can't go any longer with this lineup, and this bullpen.

 

They've gotten by with it.

 

But Shane Robinson batting second?  Not getting pinch hit for down 1 in the 8th, because there's nobody to pinch hit?  Stauffer in the 9th of a 1 run game?

 

You would think they'd be looking to take advantage of a fantastic start, and address obvious weaknesses.   It's not too late to still do so.

No surprise that they are not going to be able to sustain a .600 record and ease into the play-offs, but big picture I think they are going to have a better record than I anticipated in April.  Before the season started I was hoping for being at or around 500, and that might very well be something they can ultimately sustain.  All in all they have been a lot more entertaining than the last four years.

 

[and yes -- there definitely could be a tweak or many tweaks to the bullpen and the line-up].

If the Twins front office goes another week with this roster it will have ripened from a faint whiff of "You should just be glad we don't suck again this year" to a fairly strong odor.
