And, while you're at it, can you start a contest to predict Mauer's first trip to the DL?

Be nice, that was not Minnesota Nice!

He will have a healthy year -- he won't get injured until that Diamondback-Twins World Series.  In a move that will rankle Twins fans for years, he will get hurt in a Nick Punto head-first slde to first base that goes horribly wrong.

let's just say I know a guy

Wow, so that means I finally know a guy who knows a guy.  I'm going to give my boss the good news that we're about to crack this case. I mean, can you give me this guy's home address, I want to send him a Christmas card.

Just bumping this up again as Spring Training is starting up around the league.

Aaron Hicks has been working with Rod Carew, Torii generated some goodwill at TwinsFest, who knows if either will be playing in CF any time soon for the Twins?

Sometime late in October, 2015 - game 7 of the world series.  He will have to fill in for the regular center fielder who got hurt the previous inning.  People will be nervous, but he will steal a home run from new Diamondback player, Nick Punto.  If it had gone over, the Diamondbacks would have had a walk-off win, but instead it ends the game and gives the Twins their third world series championship.

And I thought I was the irrational optimist.

Not sure how much the starting of guys like Cuddyer and Parmelee in center was Gardy's doing... TR has basically said that outfield defense is overrated and Torii would be adequate out there. My guess is April 28.

i thought Rod Carew was an infielder... Moli just might get desperate enough to try it.

Without even checking the schedule... I'm going to say July 24th...

I sure hope there is a game that day!!!

You should have randomly picked July 14.   That would put him in CF for the All Star Game.  Gotta aim high.

My prediction is that he doesn't, Molitor isn't Gardy. Although I'll laugh if he does and we lose 11-10 or something :)

While you are right that Molitor isn't Gardy, TR is still TR, and available options are what they are.

I'm trying to imagine the series of events that would lead to Torii Hunter starting the 2015 All-Star game in CF. It would have to be a "Mr. Burns' Softball Team" - level meltdown.

Mike Trout is stranded on a boat - he was trying to catch a Marlin, but the fish pulled the boat into open waters,

Adam Jones is stuck in a phonebooth like Tippi Hedren in "The Birds,"

George Springer is trapped in a human sized game of Mousetrap,

. . .

All the way down to Coco Crisp going literally cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

It is all so obvious now.  It is pretty clear Torii and the all star player in left field, Delmon Young, will both be sprinting directly for a ball and be so focused on the route - forget to call it and collide into each other.  This will allow Ben Revere to get an in-park home run that ultimately wins the game for the NL and nets Ben the all-star MVP award.

This is why the Diamondbacks will have home field advantage in the World Series, and have the potential to win with a walk-off in game 7.    Torii's miscalculation in the all-star game contributes to why people are nervous when he plays the position in game 7, the first time playing the position for the Twins.  The redemption of his World Series era by making the game-saving, series winning leap will add to many incredible moments of what will be one of the most talked about World Series in years - one that will eventually become legendary.

Damn It...

I was taping the 2015 season to watch when I got home!!!

Uh, Delmon Young, "D" as I call him, has staked his claim to right field for the 2015 O's.  Who knew that his defensive problems were all a function of playing the wrong corner outfield spot?

There were will still be a few surprises, like the drama of Mauer missing game 5, not due to injury or health concerns, but due to being suspended for punching out Jim Souhan in a post-game interview.

I think we should guess when Hunter goes after Mauer in the dugout.  I'm gonna say mid-August

No chance of Souhan showing up for the post game interview now,

Final week of Spring Training, last chances to guess on which date will Molitor throw up his hands and start Torii Hunter in CF in a regular season game.

Remember, the Twins are heading into the season with Schafer and Shane Robinson platooning in Center. . . Hicks is in AAA, Molitor is committed to Santana as the everyday SS.
