Something witty this way may come ... (I said may ...) ...

-------------------------------------------

Clearly... A long shot... May won't come either. It's Hughes Tonight. May will come tomorrow!!!

Things to Think About:

1. The Indians Chances -- They are 4.5 games behind the Royals and the Mariners are still in front of them for a wild card spot. The Indians will have to get real hot and they have to get hot starting right now. I really don't like the Indians chances but I'm not a math major. We will have to turn to Ash for a professional assessment. Hopefully something with charts and graphs.

2. The Twins Chances -- After winning two in a row from the Tigers... It's beginning to look like the Twins may not reach the 4th pick overall. Maybe if they get swept by the D-Backs but they may need help from the Indians this weekend.

3. Royals/Tigers -- It's awfully hard to think about the Twins right now... The Royals and Tigers head to head is gonna creep in to my thoughts. How can it not... It may not be the playoffs but this is absolutely playoff baseball like. It's all on the line and the Mariners (or A's) will be trying to pick over any teams corpse should a sweep occur. I will be cheering for the Royals loudly.

4. The NL Race -- Seems like it's over... I'll be surprised if anything changes from where it is right now... Washington... St. Louis and L.A. win divisions with the Pirates and Giants playing the wild card game. So... Nothing to see here... Everybody go back to Thought Number Three.

5. Clumps of Women -- With no Twins baseball... My wife and I went out with Friends of ours. There were 4 couples total and I couldn't help but notice that the ladies all went to the bathroom at the same time. It's Ok... They can all synchronize bodily functions if that's the way it is but I just wanted to say that it was hard not to notice. After the third time... That all the women got up in unison. I said to the guys... "What with this Clumps of Women going to the bathroom collectively?" None of us had an answer and when they came back... I made the unfortunate innocent comment... "You ladies are all clumpy"... I wasn't able to finish by adding "when you go to the bathroom together". It seems the "You ladies are all clumpy" was all that was needed to take the air out of the room immediately.

Picking up on what others have said about "the integrity of the game" and not playing prospects when playing September games against teams in contention ... I saw last night that the Angels put out this lineup against Seattle, which couldn't have made Oakland, Kansas City, or Detroit very happy. (Seattle won, by the way.)

Campana, CF

Beckham, G, SS

Boesch, RF

Cron, DH

Navarro, E, 1B

Green, G, 2B

Conger, C

Jimenez, L, 3B

O'Malley, LF

Since I dont read all the threads, I imagine others don't also. I pasted this to the 50 top prospects thread, maybe would have been more appropo here? Since Santanna is starting at SS tonight, Gardy must not consider Cleveland a contender? So is he trying to earn Kurt a few extra bucks?

Well, [ insert perfunctory Pinto complaint here ].

And that's all I have to say about that.

:)

Maybe Gardy has a little checkoff sheet he gives to the day's starting pitcher:

1) Select today's uniform.

2) Select your starting catcher.

I'll try it if i ever get tired of twinkie wiener sandwiches...

In general, i'm just glad twinkies are back on the market.

More game related thought, though, Players have differing strengths, so if player a is inexperienced, but more likely to crush a lefty fastball from tonight's pitcher than player b, it may be the right move to play him.  Also the whole wear and tear of the season?

That said, yeah, i'd like to see Pinto play more to, at least in the abstract sense.  I'm sure he's still putting in work at this level, and perhaps that factors into the decision as well?  Meh, i'm just speculatin' upon a hypothesis.  I hope he pounds a pinch hit or two out, if that's his current role.

It would be nice for TD to create a year end re-cap of  Riverbrianisms from the year. I think a 162 page history of the season would immortalize the wonders we have witnessed.

Two things...

1. Debra Allison stopped by my store in Huron this morning. She's a local girl married to Bob Allison's oldest son, Mark, who runs the Allison Foundation. Earlier this season, I mentioned her among several area people with Twins connections, but was stumped on which son she married. Now we know.

2. "Holy flying bad actors, Batman! Look! Steven Seagal has sprouted wings and is flying directly overhead! And there's more than one of him... there's two, five, a dozen, fifty!"

"Don't fret, my young friend. Steven's on our side. He's learned to clone himself, just like his movies. So he goes by a new name now."

"What would that be, Caped Crusader?"

"Why, Robin, you should figure that out. He's A Flock of Seagals, naturally."

Circus Boy, what is your store in Huron? I know the Slumberland owners there.

My wife and I own and operate The Clothing Company. Marked 25 years in business this spring. The Slumberland people are groovy.

Glass Half Full Milestone Alert:

If Phil Hughes pitches 5-1/3 innings today, he will be the first pitcher for the Twins to throw for 200IP in a season in 3 years (2011).

I ran... I ran so far away... Would take on new meaning.

Just to update on why I haven't been posting:  just released from the hospital with a badly fractured left humerus,

Very little pain and I am very dominantly right handed but everything is just a lot harder.

I have watched some of the games -- was fun to see the Twins outdo Detroit,

Before I joke about it... Let me seriously say... I'm sorry to hear that. How did it happen?

Now if I can joke about.

Let's go with... "I don't see anything humerus about that".

Heal well, and quickly. Be ready for Spring Training, at least.

Don't worry...Brian's "humorous" has been broken for years, and he gets by just fine without one.

That's the cast.  It'll come off in due time.

I dated a guy once who broke his humerus. He was on the bus and had his arm resting on an open window when the bus went by this construction site and got really too close and this pole clipped his arm. Basically snapped the bone in half.

This is your idea of funny?
