nater79a Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 When it was first reported, the other team wasn't listed. It now looks like he was acquired by the Nationals. Yep, see it now on the Twitter feed.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 If Suzuki started hitting .180 tomorrow is there anyone that really believes he could bring it back to .300? Gotta trade him while his value is so high. Why would he suddenly start hitting .180? I get it, he is having a career year, but it's not all based on luck, he is on pace for 35 doubles this year, doubles aren't the result of luck.
nater79a Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Andrew Miller is being traded to the Orioles...curious to see how expensive he was - other than Parmalee - the guy is lights out on LH's. He's a free agent after 2015. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/millean01.shtml Now that Miller is gone, what lefties are still out there. Duensing?
James Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I'd have to imagine there have been a few calls about Duensing. I think Bastardo is still out there too, but there aren't a ton of LHR out there.
John Bonnes Site Manager Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 I might even go 3/21. I know it's a reach. I know it's overpaying. But I believe that Suzuki's going to continue to hit .280+ with the plate discipline he suddenly has. This isn't just a bunch of lucky bounces. James 1
James Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 This whole trade deadline has really destroyed my productivity at work today. I should have taken a vacation day.
nater79a Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Now word is Tigers pursuing Price. Would be just the Twins luck to get him in division.
John Bonnes Site Manager Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 Yankess likely out on Price. What does NYY have if the Twins packaged Willingham and Correia to them? Any lower level prospects that look interesting?

He may start hitting .250. If you mix that with an ISO that ranks 147th of 156 qualified batters you get a poor offensive player.
nater79a Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Not only in on Price, but appear to be the front runners. Maybe a Tiger's trade for Price would gut the farm system so that by the time the Twins are good the Tigers will be down!

Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Yankess likely out on Price. What does NYY have if the Twins packaged Willingham and Correia to them? Any lower level prospects that look interesting? Well if you are talking about both of them, then I think they could get Shane Greene (SP) or Ramon Flores (OF).
nater79a Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Yankess likely out on Price. What does NYY have if the Twins packaged Willingham and Correia to them? Any lower level prospects that look interesting? Would Yankees even be interested in Willingham now that they have Marlon Byrd?

Any lower level prospects that look interesting? There is no way the Yankees take both Willingham and Correia, particularly not if they have to give up anything. Actually, maybe taking Correia would be what the Yankees would have to pay to get Willingham.

Oxtung Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 It's hard to imagine the Tigers having enough in their minor leagues to acquire Price. The acquisitions of Lester, Samardzija show just how costly that is. Price is better than either of those and comes with an extra year of control allowing a chance at an extension or a qualifying offer. What do the Tigers have to bargain with? Ray and .....?
nater79a Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 As of now, they haven't. That was a mistake. Looks like a fake Jim Bowden Twitter handle reported Byrd to Yanks, huh?
twinsfan34 Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I thought I read earlier today that Miller is a FA after this year? Dave you may be right, I could be misinterpreting the baseball-reference link. Maybe when it says "2015" it means for the 2015 Free Agency period, not after 2015 season.

I just don't see it. Their system had Castellanos and Ray in the top 100 last year. Neither is exactly on par with the Wil Myers/Odorizzi package. Castellanos, Smyly, and something? I think the Rays do better in the offseason

cmb0252 Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 The point of buying low is to sell high. I just can't see Suzuki being worth a 3 year extension.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 The point of buying low is to sell high. I'd argue the point of buying low is to get a player below market value. DaveW 1
