Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Now Dick and Bert are throwing Hicks under the bus. Couple that with Gardy's quotes. He's going down.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 It's not just LH at-bats folks.
Hawkeye12 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Three different innings ending with a backwards K with runners in scoring position. That's the Twins we know and love.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Now Dick and Bert are throwing Hicks under the bus. Couple that with Gardy's quotes. He's going down. You always can tell when Dick's been given permission. "Kevin Slowey may or may not be an axe murderer. He definitely eats children." That said, Hicks needs to go down. Even if it means Cletus Thomas II.
chuchadoro Provisional Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 That extended shot of a glum Gardy after the Hicks K was both sad and hilarious.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Ortiz another home run. Gardy: "That's not how we do things around here."
howeda7 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 No offense to Big Papi, but seeing things like this make me question if the steroid era is over. He's 38? Come on man.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Not looking good for Hicks, after Dirt have conversed with each other multiple times about how he... whatever the commercially acceptable word for 'sucks' is.
zchrz Provisional Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 OK just keep pitching to him, see what happens.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Ortiz goes deep again. If I were Pohlad, Molitor would receive an immediate field promotion after Gardenhire experienced a tragic accident that I was the only witness to. Dirt shocked not by the Twins' refusal to IBB him, but rather than that it happened again...
snepp Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 So, Duensing and which filler player gets it done?
Reider Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 The Twins didn't think David Ortiz was a MLB baseball player, so he plays like the World Series MVP that he is, whenever he plays against the Twins.

notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 No offense to Big Papi, but seeing things like this make me question if the steroid era is over. He's 38? Come on man. Maybe it's just Twins pitching. He wasn't hitting in another stratosphere when he faced major league pitching.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 This is unbelievable. Ortiz is on fire (or steroids). He's like the only kid in your gym class who plays baseball and when you play softball, he hits a home run every time he bats. But I guess this is just karma for the Twins. Get rid of a really talented player, he bites you back. Hard.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 That extended shot of a glum Gardy after the Hicks K was both sad and hilarious. My reaction as well. Made me think that Gardy is ready to be done with him for now, especially in light of his earlier comments.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Why do they keep pitching to him? Because nobody thinks the Twins should issue IBBs. Edit: See thread on Twins Daily.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Give it some time. Like, through the middle of tomorrow's game. Edit: Shorten up the timeline.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Maybe it's just Twins pitching. He wasn't hitting in another stratosphere when he faced major league pitching. Touche. But the Thielbar pitch wasn't even a cookie. Jim Thome was great at 38, but never had a streak quite like this.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 When is Fuld back?As soon as he can stand up on his own?
pierre75275 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Ortiz, only trails Ted Williams and Yastremzski in career Red Sox's homeruns:eek: There is a distinct possibility you might have to update this quote after the series
zchrz Provisional Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I was young at the time but someone jog my memory, Ortiz was pretty bad when he was here wasn't he? And didn't he refuse to follow the TK other way plan? I want to just think it was bad luck he worked out I mean Matt Lecroy and Brian Buchanon didn't go on to be Big Papi's.

VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Let's see, in two games you know who has 8 official ABs, 5 runs scored, 7 hits, 4 HRs, and 6 RBIs. By my calculation that comes out to be a 2.375 slugging pct. Not too shabby.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I was young at the time but someone jog my memory, Ortiz was pretty bad when he was here wasn't he? OPS's in his four full or partially full seasons with the Twins: .817 (age 22), .810 (age 24), .799 (age 25) and .839 (age 26). He was actually pretty good when he was here.

Papi was very good here from 98-02. He had some injuries and missed some time but when he played he was very good.

Ortiz' second half of 2002 was every bit what he's done since he left. He was pretty good in 1998 as a rookie when he broke his wrist and then didn't get a chance in 1999 with Mienkiewicz winning the spot. Ortiz went 0 for 20 when he was called up in September that year. Then he was back full time in 2000 as the DH.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS On Saturday, Houston went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. After a short slump, he is now back over .290 on the season. Explore Marek Houston News >
