  1. Buxton seems to change his approach a lot. Ive seen a couple abs where the leg kick only shows up with 2 strikes which is kinda the reverse of what you want. Its a weird situation because he can do so much damage free swinging and aggressive and strike out a ton. On the other hand if you sap some power potential for contact he might be a .280 hitter beating out grounders, nubs, and bunts with his speed. The batting 3rd experiment needs to end, he can get plenty of protection with Dozier batting behind him 9-1. The defense is ridiculous, if he had a clone we could play a 2 man outfield and nothing would drop.
  2. I am enjoying Torii and Latroy in the booth.
  3. Lol bullpen is already self harming
  4. Probably not, but I can dream.
  5. I'm optimistic that by the end of the year the rotation will include Berrios, Mejia, and Gonsalvez. Maybe even throw in a new arm from a Dozier/ Santana trade return or a Stewart/ Romero debut.
  6. His pick position is sunk cost at this point, I like the idea of fast tracking him in the role he knows if this front office deems that is the best move. He has some nasty stuff that is going to play way up in the pen. Falveyco was brought in to overhaul the pitching program, I am willing and excited to see the results of a new modern approach in this system. TR thought he had an ace up his sleeve drafting big college bullpen arms minus the wear and tear of being a starter. I don't think its going to be real shocking if that doesn't amount to mlb starters.
  7. If he can be a passable defender at 3rd, you have a 1B/ DH bat slotted in at 3rd allowing 1B and DH to be filled by similarly potent bats. As for tools he has an absolute cannon arm and has shown passable range up the line/ in the hole, its worth every error to see if he can stick there (especially in what will be another down year) to be able to slot his bat in a more premium defensive position.
  8. I think Chargois is the heir apparent. Burdi is still a wildcard from the minors eventually too. Kintzler was a nice surprise last year but I see a lot of Jared Burton in him. Perkins is better used as a setup guy even if he does get most of the way back.
  9. I think the Rubio rumors get pushed by his agent a lot. I'm sure Thibs would move him for a good price, but Derrick Rose's corpse is wayyy below that price. Ricky may not be the long term plan but they aren't going to scrap heap him and Dunn/ Tyus aren't viable replacements. Wolves need a big wing and a real power forward that can defend the perimeter some. If really set on trading Rubio those should be the targets not worse point guards like Rose and Jackson.
  10. Anthony Barr is 6'4 250 Everson Griffin is 6'3 270 Kyle Rudolph is 6'6 260 All of them are plenty athletic at that size. His defensive struggles at 3rd haven't been from his weight, unfortunately also haven't been helped by the Twins not getting him reps for a year+. There will be some lumps, c'mon we sat through Plouffe, but Sano has all the tools to stick at 3rd for awhile. His value as a 3rd baseman is light years ahead of his value at 1st/dh, he needs every opportunity to play there. That being said defense isn't going to be his strength and pairing him with a rangey defensive shortstop would be very wise. Its unfortunate due to the Polanco situation that appears unlikely to happen in the short term.
  11. Idk how fast they will get pushed but I think the 2 biggest third base prospects in the system are Cabbage and Blakenhorn.
  12. I think it will be the 4 vets + May to start, could be to showcase all of them and try and wring some value out in a trade if they are throwing well. I personally would have Berrios in there and would not hesitate to call the next kid up when they earn it. The youth movement needs to happen .
  13. Former Twins hired back into the organization --- check Appear interested in big name free agents --- check Appear interested in big trade --- check Sign 1 cheap veteran position player - check Lackluster bullpen addition (preferably from the NL) --- check Whelp off season is done, are we sure it wasn't Rob Antony pulling the levers all these years with TR as some baseball euphemisms spouting puppet figure? More seriously Belisle for 2 mil is fine, as a 6th/ 7th innings eater guy. Belisle for setup man/closer single piece to fix the bullpen is Twins.
  14. Hammel would be a decent enough move, but really he is another in the Gibson/Hughes/Santiago/Placeholder bin. I would rather they just give the young guys ample opportunities to take a rotation spot and run with it.
  15. Giants getting creative? Could they flip Panik to someone else for the kind of pitching we are seeking in a separate trade or 3 way deal?
  16. Random though while all this thinking about pitching prospects is going on.... How nice would it be still have Hu in the organization instead of the Kevin Jepsen era.
  17. Well its easy to see why people are hyped on him. Tall with big shoulders to fill into, big velocity, big break. Mechanics need a lot of polish and in that short bit doesn't look like he has any real command of the breaking stuff. Very Meyer-esque guy but that is exactly the kind of upside guy the Twins need (I'm still perfectly fine with the Meyer trade even if it didn't work out that's the gamble).
  18. Maybe I am not valuing them right but isn't there a decent gap between Mejia and Gonsalves in value? Mejia is closer but Gonsalves has way more ceiling.
  19. MLB - Castro/ Murphy AAA - Garver/ Centeno?
  20. I think you are right on point, a spot for Bellinger if could easily be made and hopefully Sano can stick at 3rd (I am very willing to endure some adventures from him there to get that arm there and that bat in the lineup). Bellinger also seems more locked into LA's plans replacing AGon and I can see the Twins taking a lot less value in the 3/4 spot returns to get Alvarez instead.
  21. I think De Leon + Alvarez + Filler seems the most reasonable. Bellinger would be nice but I think the plan has to be Sano taking Mauer's spot at first once that era ends, so I doubt they are targeting that enough to be stuck on him. Alavrez is a blue chip wild card with a ton of ceiling and long ways to go, Alex Meyer-ish? De Leon is ready and has a solid #3 profile with some upside that could be realized, he reminds me of Scott Baker with his flyball/ control/ k makeup. For filler there a couple good looking catching prospects and wild card arms down the rankings. It doesn't bring back the A+ immediate arm that everyone wants, but De Leon offers immediate relief and Alvarez offers a big potential prospect. I hope the Twins pull the trigger if this is close to the terms, we need future controllable pitching much more than a veteran power second baseman.
  22. I don't have quotes for it but have seen his defense questioned some in multiple places, could just be the errors. Hopefully he sticks at short they really need him too.
  23. Scary part is there are starting to be questions about Gordon sticking at short. I would prefer a defensive wiz as the stop gap until the position can be better filled, opposed to bat first guys like Polanco and Escobar.
  24. With the Dodgers needing to go cheaper yet still wanting vets to make another run I wonder if Perkins would interest them as a Jansen replacement. I would happily include him to sweeten the return and LA does like its blockbuster trades.
  25. Hermann was not a good defensive catcher hence playing the outfield often, and he may have a little higher average with backup plate appearances but it would suffer from exposure. Butera is excellent defensively but the improved offense is a low plate appearence mirage. Neither are starting calibre with Castro has proven to be, hes not a top 10 guy or anything but hes an average starter at a premium position.
