LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 OPS's in his four full or partially full seasons with the Twins: .817 (age 22), .810 (age 24), .799 (age 25) and .839 (age 26). He was actually pretty good when he was here.He couldn't play defense and heretical metrics were still subject to Twins front office inquisition back then. Just not a good fit. But they broke The Curse and as was already mentioned, we freed up space for Porkchop Lecroy, so it all worked out.http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fat-bastard.jpg
oldguy10 Provisional Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I sure hope they teach Oswaldo Arcia to "go the other way", that will certainly take away the sting of letting David Ortiz leave.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Pitching to Babe Ruth on steroids. Would be interesting to hear the rationale here....
zchrz Provisional Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 The coaches finally got the telegram from the advanced stats department, don't throw him strikes.

Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Swarzak in mop up finally Ks Ortiz
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Ortiz' second half of 2002 was every bit what he's done since he left. He was pretty good in 1998 as a rookie when he broke his wrist and then didn't get a chance in 1999 with Mienkiewicz winning the spot. Ortiz went 0 for 20 when he was called up in September that year. Then he was back full time in 2000 as the DH.256 PAs, .297/.363/.572 Definately not worth ~$2M
zchrz Provisional Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Thats rather disheartening, I had always given them a pass on Ortiz lol.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 The Ortiz-Swarzak matchup was entertaining. Surprised by Swarzak's velo.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Tonight's silver lining: No walks from Correia.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 On the bright side, Pinto/Zukesie lineup still hasn't blown up the planet...
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Not much to be encouraged about today. Goody, it's Matt Guerrier.
snepp Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Goody, it's Matt Guerrier. Weird, this isn't a high leverage spot.

Reider Verified Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 It would be nice if Joe would drive the ball a little harder with the bases loaded and the team down by 6... It's painful watching those duck snort, inning ending, double plays.
