Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 You can lead a dog to water but you can't make him pee? No No... A Horse by any other name!!!
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 No No... A Horse by any other name!!! Your nose apparently works differently than mine, then.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Well, at least there's the pitching, they said........
thetank Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Turn the game back on and now the Twins are losing 5-1. Pelfrey is headed for 15 or more losses if he keeps pitching this way.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 $11 million for this. Where's Nick Blackburn?
gil4 Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 $11 million for this. Where's Nick Blackburn? You mean that's not him?
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Your nose apparently works differently than mine, then. I was hoping you'd quote America next
clank2000 Provisional Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Just posted this in the Mauer thread! I know Mauer isn't a speed guy, but in virtually every other aspect, Joe would be perfect at the leadoff spot for this team. The catcher barrier has been broken -- let's make it happen! You guys need to stop all of this crazy talk. You do realize that a leadoff man has to run real fast? Screw the OBP stuff, he just needs to run reaaaaaaaal fast.
gil4 Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Careful, you'll make him appear. Riverbrian mentioned the ruby slippers. I think the hope is he appears in Kansas. (KC or Omaha - either way is fine.)
thetank Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 A's love Barton despite his not being able to hit or bat more than 100 times a year.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I was hoping you'd quote America next I've got this stupid inside-out swing, and take everything to the opposite field, even when the ball is thrown right down the middle.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Odds on Pelfrey or Anderson saying he felt real good during his pen session?
Thegrin Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Let Mauer lead off. bat Suzuki or Pinto second. Let Dozier bat 3rd and put the "speed" at the end if the lineup. That will make everyone go crazy, except the Sabre-masters
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 LOL... As you know... Sometimes you take the dog for a walk and it goes right past the fire hydrant. You can lead a dog to water but you can't make him pee? No No... A Horse by any other name!!! Maybe it was a fire hydrant of a different color? (Hope i am figuring this qoute thing out. And my, what a complex sequence of thoughts...i think it calls for indiscriminate use of "like" button...)
clank2000 Provisional Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I've got this stupid inside-out swing, and take everything to the opposite field, even when the ball is thrown right down the middle. well, I'm on my way....yes, I'm back to stay....well, I'm on my way back home
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 And Sam Fuld practices his home run swing on the on deck circle...
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 We'll back to work... The Dozier 1st inning was fun
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Pinochio? I wouldnt ask him... I'd run a scientific analysis. Petrie dish... Microscope... Gloves... Gloves for sure. A sample of the beard and analysis of the sample. I think its possible... You'd find Billy Gibbons himself inside that beard. (Reference already explained by ashburyjohn) But yes. Good glove work is important in all fields, especially science. I approve.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Kipling? Not so much. I'm more a fan of Rudyard. I too am a fan of Rudyard. And now, back to the game, where i hope to see a twin or two go Rudyard...
LimestoneBaggy Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Harry Doyle: [Deduno is coming out to pitch] So, here is Sam Dedunothe one they call the "Wild Thing". So, he sets and deals. [Deduno throws a wild pitch] Harry Doyle: Just a bit outside, he tried for the corner and missed. [Deduno throws another wild pitch] Harry Doyle: Ball 4. [Deduno throws another wild pitch] Harry Doyle: Ball 8. [Deduno throws another wild pitch] Harry Doyle: Low, and he walks the bases loaded on 12 straight pitches. How can these guys lay off pitches that close?

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 So... Pinto tagged Punto out at 3rd after Lowrie got caught off base. And it all comes around, as Lowrie gets tagged at the plate. By Pinto. 6-1, pending ump powow...
sandbun Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 When's the last time a team got two outs in the same inning on a tag at home?
Reider Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 That was a slick double play by Punto and the SS.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I haven't been able to watch much of the game, but as usual it seems the strike zone is very inconsistent. I've never been a proponent of electronic strike zone, but I may be changing my mind. I watched the inning where Pelfrey struggled on the edge of the zone, walked a few and got out with the score only 1-1. It seemed they were squeezing him. The next inning, the first two pitches to Kubel weren't as good as what Pelfrey threw and both were called strikes. I don't get it. I'd just like to see some consistency.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 By the way, Kubel is mashing. If only he could get more than a single on a ball that misses being a homer by about a foot.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 The 'Punto plays the game the right way' narrative was an aggravated assault on reason and empiricism. His base running buffoonery today has renewed my gratitude for Bill Smith's decision to surgically separate him from Gardenhire's hip.
thetank Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Sam is not going to be starting anytime soon if he keeps issuing walks.

DickNBert have been going full-force with that narrative during Punto's at-bats. Punto put a spell on the entire organization.
