    Agreed. The last thing this roster needs is another log in the jam at corner/DH types. If there's any team that should know how to deal with a good hitting catcher, it should be this one.

    I don't think it was a mistake. Issues aside, extending home grown talent with his potential is a good thing typically. Has it worked out as hoped? Not exactly, but it can still bear fruit. While he was signed as a SS, he wasn't expected to stick there. Becoming a DH only type is a disappointment, but if he can build in his second half of last season it won't be a bad thing.

    Agreed. He would almost certainly be an upgrade over what was produced from the position last season.

    I can't stop laughing at the size difference between Puckett and Winfield! Winfield the athlete is insane. Getting drafted by 4 leagues is ridiculous. That will always amaze me no matter how many times I hear it. Who are the others in that group?

    This has been one of the more frustrating stretches during the lockout. Hard to even find any hope to grab on to.

    Lewis being unable to get on the field is a pretty big deal at this point. It's just setback after setback, kinda crazy circumstances. He's still pretty important to the organization, he needs to get on the field.

    The Central was pretty brutal last season, so it doesn't take much to improve upon. That said, every team but the Twins and Guardians made decent strides last season. Cleveland sort of treaded water and the Twins, well... The fact that KC and Detroit are getting better doesn't help the Twins cause. Chicago should be very good again and Cleveland is still better than the Twins even if they keep treading water.

    When this "The league and MLBPA have begun to meet with greater frequency, which is good I guess..." is the best thing that can be said this close to ST, that's not a good sign. Punxsutawney Phil isn't the only indication that winter is going to be a bit longer this year.

    My comment was said partially tongue in cheek, but true all the same. But you're right, I would expect them to be more active whenever the offseason continues. That said, going after what's left does take some of the excitement away.

    No thanks. If he were a FA I'd definitely take a flier on him, kind of like what they did with Pineda. I'm not trading the prospects TB will demand though.

    Free agency is only exciting when your favorite team actually participates.

    Definitely not alone. The argument there is that he's strikeout prone regardless of where he is on the field, so I'm not sure why that matters. By freeing up 1B for Kirilloff, his best position according to many, you get his bat in the lineup and improve the infield defense at the same time. It only makes sense to go this route.

    I've been advocating Sano at DH for a while. I think the glut of corner types in the system is starting to rear it's head and Kirilloff plays a good 1B, so this move seems like a no-brainer to me.

    It's hard to get too excited about how things transpired this week. Even when there appears to be some movement, it almost seems backward.

    Fair enough, but I can't blame management for the injuries and various other craziness that went on. I'm sure there's some things that were within their control, but that can't all be on them. Especially in the first half. There were long stretches where at least half of the starting lineup was hurt or had Covid. Plenty of things to blame the FO for last season, but I can't hang that one on them. And having all of the corner types was/is going to bite them eventually, no doubt. I don't want to get into that though. Don't need to hijack the thread.

    I think he was called up out of lack of other options. I don't think it was their first choice. Though, I don't think his situation was as dire as Celestino where they really didn't have any other CFer's. I could be remembering wrong, however. The issue with putting Larnach at 1B instead of Kirilloff is that Kirilloff's best position is 1B (from my understanding) and that he's quite good there. And I wasn't able to see Larnach play enough to agree or disagree with you on the arm. This is the problem with drafting hit first corner types all of the time. It's been my view that the pieces are getting more difficult to fit into the puzzle.
