  1. If the quote in your first post on this thread is any indication, the scales are broken anyway so there's no way of knowing!
  2. Don't want to oversell it!
  3. As others have said, thanks for these weekly write-ups, Nick! They're always a good read whether you caught every game or none at all in a given week.
  4. Well, I'm glad that's over!

    Spring training start yet?!?

  5. I know it's the Cubs, but its good to see Ryan show that he's healthy and can dominate. Some positivity in this otherwise ugly season.
  6. The plot thickens! Astute observation, Rosterman. I didn't even think about that!
  7. I don't view him as an upgrade in any facet over what they've currently got. Given the organization has solutions in house for SS that could be ready at some point next season, it makes little sense to trade for one that isn't a clear upgrade.
  8. I have been on the side of extending Pineda, but with what I have seen lately, I'm extremely leery of it now. I'd like a veteran presence in the rotation, but unless it's a very team friendly extension, I'd be very nervous about it now.
  9. He's had quite the roller coaster career. Ride that peak as far as you can! Fascinating story that he's got. The resilience and determination is admirable.
  10. Congratulations to Ryan on his first big league win! Hopefully the first of many in a Twins uni!
  11. This is true, but it's also true of the vast majority of the teams in the league. Even the teams that can spend at will need to get player evaluation right, they just have more means to absorb mistakes.
  12. I don't think this is even a conversation at this point. Even if Maeda is closer to what he was earlier this year then last, he's a 2/3 starter on a team starved of front line starters at the time of the trade for a reliever. Graterol may go on to do great things, but he wasn't what the team needed. That alone makes this a win for the Twins. It's also possible that both teams win in the end. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. That's what virtually every trade strives for.
  13. He's bounced around enough that I don't really feel like they missed anything. His success could be attributed to taking something from every stop he's had and molding it into his own to great effect. Whatever the reason, I'm glad to see him succeed. Wish it were here, but I don't have any regrets.
  14. If this were me, I guess that I'd simply want a second opinion before rushing into a procedure and risking my career, millions of dollars, significant rehab and recovery time, and all of the stress that goes along with that. Doesn't really need to get more complicated than that.
  15. I'd love to see a couple of these guys brought up, but I think there's definitely value in keeping them in St. Paul for the playoff chase. I would imagine we'll be seeing lots of them next spring either way.
  16. What if I already cut it with a splash of water? Am I really screwed now?!?!
  17. Meaningless. Meaningful. They still oddly produce the same reaction! Frustration! Thanks for the coping mechanisms, though! Sometimes Scotch just doesn't cut it!
  18. I realize they had to pitch to Polanco in this case, but I'm starting to wonder why anyone pitches to him in these situations. Anyone else on the roster is an easier out than him.
  19. That's at least an improvement on the logjam they have a corner positions!
  20. The fact that there's still some fire is encouraging. These guys could just be going through the motions, but there's still competitive fire there.
  21. Fun stretch of games. Too bad they screwed the pooch long ago making it meaningless. Not sure I'm happy to see what might have been, but winning baseball is definitely more fun regardless.
  22. I'm with you there. I was more just making a general statement backing up your point. I would have been on the phone saying "you can have Simmon for $1M" regardless of the anti-vax stuff. This team has other players to audition and don't need Simmons playing every day.
  23. Non-bad players get released for nonperformance related issues now and then. Those are usually more severe circumstances, but it does happen.
  24. Does wormer paste help with motion sickness because that was a bit of a roller coaster ride!
  25. Every team has to fill out a starting rotation. Ober and Jax have been able to fill the void left by injury or ineptitude. Are they top of the rotation guys? No, but any team that isn't a large market team needs cheaper options at the back of the rotation and they've been effective in doing so. Is it early to say that the pipeline has arrived? Yes. But these guys do at least provide evidence that the FO may know a thing or two, which has been lacking to this point. Pitching takes time to develop. Baby steps suck sometimes, but patience is a virtue for a reason.
