  1. Great first post, and I tend to agree that he's on the outside looking in. Welcome to Twins Daily!
  2. I think I'd prefer to have a second ASG at the end of the season again, rather than an all-MLB team.

Most guys would beg out of an end of season ASG.

  3. While I would agree that it appears that they've learned from past mistakes in this case, I'd imagine that they'll be far more likely to protect pitching than position players. The need is far greater on the mound than it is in the outfield.
  4. That's pretty cool! Congratulations to Jax! And thank you and Savannah for your service!
  5. Hanson is right! It's a privilege to put in the Twins uniform and represent the great state of Minnesota! He should have to pay for that opportunity!
  6. Sano should be the DH unless he's traded or they sign one for some reason. I like the rotation idea for many reasons, but I think this team is set up for a typical DH as long as Sano is still on the roster.
  7. You don't think Buxton is trying to maximize his value? These negotiations are all about leverage, and both sides are angling to try to maximize that. The team is trying to downplay Buxton's value and get the best terms they can. That's how negotiations work.
  8. This really just seems like posturing to me. The team is leveraging other teams should they in fact determine that they need to trade him. And at the same time, likely finding what his true value is in the process, which they can use to leverage Buxton who is likely doing the same thing behind the scenes. That's actually pretty shrewd in my mind. I'm not overly concerned about it at this point. It's November and the CBA expires in a couple of weeks. I pretty much expect this to take right up to when players start reporting to camp, whenever that may be.
  9. Along with recency bias, I think what clouds the minds of many is that the bad signings have been REALLY bad. As good as Maeda and Odorizzi had/have been at times, they don't really offset that.
  10. This is part SSS initially and part opposing pitchers learning a little something about him and using it effectively. Jeffers simply needs to learn to adjust to that too. I think he'll be fine with more, and more consistent, at bats.
  11. I see these veteran guys chasing a title, not money. I don't think that's going to be a sell this team can make. And I doubt they'd pony up the money it would require to make them look past a real contending chance. And in all likelihood, I don't want them to throw that kind of money around in that case.
  12. Congratulations to Buster Posey for a brilliant career.  Loved watching you play!  Enjoy your retirement!

  13. Don't fight it. Just be proud and at the same time ponder how much more productive you could be if you spent less time here! ?
  14. I'd be pretty disappointed. That said, it would make some sense if the FO thinks Martin or Lewis (or someone else) will be ready this season, just not on Opening Day. I can understand that logic. I won't like it in the interim, but that approach does make sense. He's likely to be an easy DFA decision.
  15. That Donaldson guy wasn't too shabby a signing either.
  16. There's quite a bit to digest here. I think I'd hate to see most of it play out, but if it came to it, I'd love to see the FO actually make that level of commitment to overhaul the roster. And to me, the linchpin of all of that is Buxton. If can't extend him, they have to trade him. And if they trade him, now would be the time to make other drastic moves to avoid a long rebuild. That said, there are a few of these I wouldn't mind seeing regardless. Trading Sano and Donaldson could make some sense, and gambling on Ray isn't a bad idea either.
  17. As a general rule, I hated the Dome. Too many nice days/nights spent indoors. That said, I do have some fond memories there. Kubel capping his cycle with a grand slam, completing a comeback for the team after getting down early; Prince Fielder's inside-the-park HR; and the final series there.
  18. Big Cruz fan, but I think the fit isn't there as it has been in years past. Way too many bat first/only guys coming up. There should much bigger priorities than bringing him back.
  19. Some of this depends on how they're going after 2022. If they're trying to remain competitive, then I'm shopping Arraez for sure. I'm not opposed to shopping Kepler and Sano, but prefer to keep them. Kirilloff should be the 1B and Sano the DH. I think Garver needs to be kept at this point. Jeffers isn't ready to carry the load. And as @chpettit19pointed out, what's the minor league depth there? If they're rebuilding next season, I probably try to trade them all.
  20. I have no real qualms with this order, aside from maybe Ryan being above Larnach. I tend to value pitching more than a corner outfield types with below average gloves, even if they have middle of the order potential. Admittedly, there could be some recent SSS playing into that logic in this particular case.
  21. This is the logical choice. Not much of a contest, in my view. The team needed a pitcher to step up and Ober did just that. One of the few positive developments on the pitching front this season. I hope he continues to build on this season and continues to develop.
  22. I tend to agree with @Mike Sixel on the bats. Though, they're probably a little top heavy. Not a ton of depth there, or versatility defensively. At least position players are easier to acquire. If I can't have both, I'd much rather have quality pitching depth getting developed.
  23. Strangely enough, I seem to enjoy those seasons more...
  24. On a more serious note, thanks to @Matthew Lenz and all of the game recappers. I'm sure that they're not always an enjoyable assignment, but I look to them every day!
