    True, with Sanchez on the roster. Which continues to baffle me for that very reason.

    I imagine this means that Larnach hasn't clearly won a starting spot where he'd get consistent, any plentiful, plate appearances.

    This is the very reason why I think Lewis is such an important piece for this team. He's athletic enough to play anywhere. He'd be an obvious guy to slide into an injury opening at CF or SS. He's one of those guys that you find a spot to play him. That's all assuming he pans out, obviously. But he can be a game changer for this organization if he does.

    Back end guy with potential to be a bit more for not a lot of cash. Sounds like a Twins pitching acquisition... That said, I don't mind the move. He's probably got enough to keep the team from rushing a prospect, yet not enough dough invested to keep him around if he doesn't.

    In order for this team to compete, and be legitimate competitors, the younger guys need to step up. That includes Larnach. While I'm still not overly concerned given his youth, he's still got to prove that he's real. He's had a promising spring, but he needs to carry that into the regular season before I'll get too excited. With all of the hit first corner types in the 40-man, and in the larger organization, some of them need to play well enough to be useful or to get traded.

      Yep -- he's on the short list of favorite non-Twins. I'm a Twins fan, obviously, but there's not many MLB experiences better than seeing the sea of red at a Cardinals game, and the love for Albert was palpable.

      I agree 100%.  He is a consummate professional.  In a perfect world he would have spent his whole career in St. Louis.

    Winder is likely to play a role in the Twins fate this season whether he's on the opening day roster or not. And if this team doesn't bring in any more rotation options, you have to fill out a rotation somehow. If he earns the spot, I don't know why you wouldn't let him pitch. He'll likely struggle like most rookies, so holding him back because of that is foolhardy.

    This is brilliant! Though, if this guy can pitch, he might be worth taking a look at! I won't be the one having to endure the death-by-small talk.

    It might take some time to get their rhythm, but I'm not too concerned about it.

    Good to be talking baseball from Ft Myers! Having been unable to actually catch any visuals, how have Martin and Lewis looked in their limited action this far?

    I'm far more worried the pitching situation. DH isn't even in the rearview mirror. There's almost too many options to fill the spot... ...which leads me to my biggest non-pitching concern. How do all of these pieces fit together for a lineup? There's only one DH spot.

    Well, if this article is any indication, I'm either going to save money on Scotch cause I gave up during Spring Training or spend a lot more on Scotch to tolerate the fact that I didn't give up during Spring Training.

    Good to see Lewis get in the lineup today.  Leading off, no less.  That could be interesting.

    Right. I was never crazy about Astudillo's defense anywhere, but he could at least play in many places without completely embarrassing himself. And that works fine in a pinch. And yes, I pretty much view Sanchez the same way as you.

    This is one of the few things that I liked about having Astudillo on the roster. He did provide flexibility in many ways, which I like.

    I'm conflicted about this. Do I want a roster full of catchers or hit first corner types? Decisions, decisions...

    Unless these guys are stopgaps for in-house players in the minors, I'm not interested. Even in that scenario, I'm not sure that I'm interested.

    Considering that he's a hit first player with no defensive skills moving from an extremely hitter friendly park to a more balanced park, I'm guessing that the odds of a scenery change helping are minimal. Of course, if he's on the roster, I really hope that I'm very wrong.

    Could be both. You said that Toronto doesn't blow away TC in your mind. I simply noted that perhaps it does in Berrios'. Everyone likes different things and has other priorities.
