  1. The pitching has held up their end of the bargain thus far. It's the bats that have faltered. That isn't likely to be sustained. It's only been two games. I still don't trust the pitching, but they're doing their job through two whole games.
  2. I'd say the casting director did a pretty good job on this one!
  3. The guy has a .545 winning percentage as a manager. Even if he's just robotically following a game plan, clearly it's working more than it's not.
  4. Out of curiosity, does anyone know what Duffey's numbers are against the first three batters he faced? @Otto von Ballpark?
  5. in play, run(s) please!!!!!!!

      Now I need more again...

  6. I'm going to be concerned about the pitching until proven otherwise. One game doesn't shake that concern. Accordingly, quiet bats after one game doesn't create a concern. Especially considering it came against the reigning Cy Young winner. There are clearly some things to get excited about though. Ryan having a good outing after a shaky start is a good sign. Duran looks filthy. And I'm just glad to see baseball again. So, there's also that!
  7. Join the game thread. I'm in the same boat so I'll listen on the radio or follow gamecast and follow the game thread. Not quite the same, but usually a good time.
  8. Now to figure out a way to get a supply in...
  9. I predict that I'll be cold and miserable and loving every second of it!
  10. Or even one, or more, of the starting prospects to jump into the big leagues to try to stabilize the pen. I don't mind this move either, but I think this probably forces even more creativity in pitcher use over the course of this season. I don't know that I like that, but I don't necessarily dislike it either. I have to see how it evolves.
  11. Looking to stirrup a bit of chaos with all of those horse puns?
  12. They have plenty of options to fill in for Larnach. And they could even get someone in return to fill that somewhat immediate need.
  13. Great to see Lewis on the field again. Also good to hear that there was no apparent favoring of the knee. Hopefully that holds up over the season. And I think I'll take 1 for 4 with a couple of K's in his first real game action in 2 years.
  14. I think he has a pretty decent chance to be pretty effective in that setup as well.
  15. I mean, this seems like as good a reason as any! I'm on board! With our collective wills, it's bound to work!
  16. I think they've salvaged a decent offseason, but they still lack the pitching to really matter in the grand scheme of things. I think there's too much reliance on young arms to be truly and consistently competitive in the regular season let alone the playoffs. And the logjam of corner hit first types only got worse by adding Sanchez. B-/C+ I think they've set themselves up fairly well going forward, but not really for this season.
  17. Definitely agree there. It would be nice to have him in a better mental state confidence-wise too.
  18. True, with Sanchez on the roster. Which continues to baffle me for that very reason.
  19. I imagine this means that Larnach hasn't clearly won a starting spot where he'd get consistent, any plentiful, plate appearances.
  20. This is the very reason why I think Lewis is such an important piece for this team. He's athletic enough to play anywhere. He'd be an obvious guy to slide into an injury opening at CF or SS. He's one of those guys that you find a spot to play him. That's all assuming he pans out, obviously. But he can be a game changer for this organization if he does.
  21. Back end guy with potential to be a bit more for not a lot of cash. Sounds like a Twins pitching acquisition... That said, I don't mind the move. He's probably got enough to keep the team from rushing a prospect, yet not enough dough invested to keep him around if he doesn't.
  22. In order for this team to compete, and be legitimate competitors, the younger guys need to step up. That includes Larnach. While I'm still not overly concerned given his youth, he's still got to prove that he's real. He's had a promising spring, but he needs to carry that into the regular season before I'll get too excited. With all of the hit first corner types in the 40-man, and in the larger organization, some of them need to play well enough to be useful or to get traded.
  23. Great to see Pujols wearing the correct shade of red again!

Yep -- he's on the short list of favorite non-Twins. I'm a Twins fan, obviously, but there's not many MLB experiences better than seeing the sea of red at a Cardinals game, and the love for Albert was palpable.

I agree 100%.  He is a consummate professional.  In a perfect world he would have spent his whole career in St. Louis.
