  1. There are plenty of players that have that skillset. Like you said, he needs to learn to recognize those pitches and force pitchers to stay in the zone more. He can work himself into fastball situations more often and capitalize on those too.
  2. He's simply got to adjust. Breaking pitches at the MLB level are better and in better spots than they are in the minors. And everyone can throw them. I think he'll get that chance, and I think he'll be fine. But it's up to him to make that adjustment. Coaches can only do so much.
  3. I can see them adding OF depth, but I don't see them adding starting quality. I'd like to see them do it, but that list doesn't really excite me after the first two or three. Plus, I'd rather they do something rather than just sit out free agency all together.
  4. Given two lost seasons, I don't know how much value he really has at this point. Could someone bite? I suppose so, but I don't really see getting much of a return until he gets back into game action. And if he produces, then trading him probably doesn't make much sense.
  5. Great, now I'm having Matt Capps flashbacks again!
  6. I think it's time to shift Sano to DH and make room for Kirilloff at 1B. My understanding is that he's very good defensively there as well. Perhaps his best position. That would also take a little pressure off the logjam that is corner outfield.
  7. I think he was an pretty underrated player and had quite the career, but still probably not good enough for the Hall.
  8. I'm a small Hall guy, felt Kaat probably should already have been in. Wish Oliva's run was longer, then he'd definitely already have been in. Hard to argue his dominance before his knees took it from him. Happy for both regardless!
  9. I don't think it's a coincidence that Polanco's bat took off with the move to 2B. He was also healthier. That's not a coincidence either. They do need to bring in a shortstop. I'd rather they roll with Martin or Lewis at SS than move Polanco back. I agree entirely that that move was the best of the 2021 decisions. Don't negate it by undoing it. Regarding Polanco, this seems like a "don't mess with success" scenario. Find another solution.
  10. With such a long stride, trying to add another step in there probably adds its own set of potential issues. Kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. You have a valid point though, that can't be good on that hip.
  11. Mine was when they actually let the ink dry on the deal before they non-tendered him. That was sweet.
  12. That roller coaster was so crazy that I got motion sickness just reading that! ?
  13. Welcome to Twins Daily! Yes, the Mets are still paying Bonilla and will be until 2035 when he's 72...
  14. Hes been betting on himself this whole time, the confidence that he'll get MVP votes is just more of the same. Love the swagger. So far, he's backed it up. Now he just needs to stay on the field.
  15. Torii was easily my favorite Twin when he was here. That said, I never really felt he was a HoF caliber player. I wouldn't be surprised if he does eventually get in, but I think he's in that next group of players that were great but not elite.
  16. Great first post, and I tend to agree that he's on the outside looking in. Welcome to Twins Daily!
  17. I think I'd prefer to have a second ASG at the end of the season again, rather than an all-MLB team.

Most guys would beg out of an end of season ASG.

  18. While I would agree that it appears that they've learned from past mistakes in this case, I'd imagine that they'll be far more likely to protect pitching than position players. The need is far greater on the mound than it is in the outfield.
  19. That's pretty cool! Congratulations to Jax! And thank you and Savannah for your service!
  20. Hanson is right! It's a privilege to put in the Twins uniform and represent the great state of Minnesota! He should have to pay for that opportunity!
  21. Sano should be the DH unless he's traded or they sign one for some reason. I like the rotation idea for many reasons, but I think this team is set up for a typical DH as long as Sano is still on the roster.
