  1. Something about Jax reminds me of Duffey. I know the data says he's better than I think he is, but I view him as a "7th inning" reliever vs the 8th/9th fireman role. Both were always good, but I just don't see them as elite. Not a knock...more a call for more depth so they don't have to pitch out of place in the postseason. In the regular season, it's just gonna happen sometimes given the schedule.
  2. That would be the worst trade negotiation strategy in history.
  3. This was absolutely a terrible trade. But Gomez has nothing to do with it. He was already gone.
  4. I think he has some Radke in him. He's a control artist and if he's off, even the slightest, the results are way different.
  5. I'm only trading for rentals this year. Minimal cost. Save the farm for all-in 2024 with a (presumably) healthy core roster. 2023 is about "getting hot at the right time" if it's going to happen.
  6. Trey Cabbage to make MLB debut https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/07/angels-select-trey-cabbage-outright-david-fletcher.html
  7. Y'all still believe everything that comes out this guy's mouth?
  8. Sure. Put him in the rotation. If they're in last place in late August and sold everyone else.
  9. Imagine how long this game would be without a pitch clock.
  10. If ATL continues their pace for 13.5 errors today, the Twins still have a chance.
  11. Well, Ortega will get some innings, I guess.
  12. If they make multiple moves I could see it happen. Get an A wildcard pitcher in the deal, then make another move for a new Joe Ryan "near ready" level pitcher. But I agree. I think that's a long shot. As I said in a different post, I think the last two years were the building blocks of this FO. This year they make modest moves and wait for the future. Unless there's a way to add some minor league SP prospects, which was the CLE path.
  13. I agree, but with the short-term future in mind. Have a 2-3 year plan with flex space. Which, quite honestly, is what I think this FO has been building toward since Day One. It just takes a while to get there in baseball. Now, if they trade our top prospects this year for rentals I'll eat crow there. But I suspect they're done trading near-ready prospects unless they're redundant hitters-without-a-position (and I think STP is out of those).
  14. I've been to one game this year and was happy Castro was in LF, where my seats were. He's fun to watch. I'm curious if Jeffers is doing better because of the learning curve, more time off, or maybe he's motivated by the Vasquez signing, which likely felt like a slight. Either way, I'm happy with it.
  15. lol at blaming the offense for blown saves. Duran is great, no argument here. I'd also like him in the ASG. Not because I care about the ASG, but I want him getting experience in high profile situations against the league's best in advance of the postseason.
  16. I only 'watch' Gameday? Is he (still) fast, or did the surgeries take that element away, based on the eye test?
  17. To answer the question, the I expect the Twins to only field 5 defenders tomorrow.
  18. Team has enough 5th OF already. Pass.
  19. Then what are the minor leagues even for?
  20. Misleading headline, as this is really all about Kepler, isn't it?
  21. He can't be worse that Aaron Sanchez in the same role.
  22. I've been on Chrome for so long I honestly just forget I have choices.
  23. They aren't making me want MLB's product, which is buried underneath two items I need to click on.
  24. Well, sure. But couldn't you say that about 99% of minor leaguers? Isn't that what separates the major leagues from the minors: that's you're expected to play at a professional level instead of in developmental ball? Besides, Cano is getting his chance. If he wasn't, we wouldn't be having this conversation. The same chance will be afforded to others who are lucky enough to get to The Show via the shuttle. When they run out of options, another team will give them another chance too. (And the majority will earn some nice paychecks, good memories, and flame out athletically without achieving what Cano has done.)
