  1. I weirdly want a slow game, so I can watch more after work. But I'll also accept a 4-0 Twins win under 2 hours.
  2. Is the pitch clock still in use in the playoffs? Are all of the time saver rules of the last few years (3 batters per pitcher etc)?
  3. Larnach always looks good for the first week after callup. Then the league adjusts.
  4. Yes, if he's healthy.
  5. Not related to Ober, but to extras: Does the stupid ghost runner rule apply to post-season too?
  6. Does AFL carry extra catchers (kinda like Spring Training)? It seems like they would. Catchers definitely have to put in a ton of work at their position, but also get a lot of development opportunities.
  7. I was trying to remember Granite's name last week (for a completely different reason). Thanks.
  8. So it was what I thought when watching on Gameday: Just the Twins putting on extra pressure right after the C throwing error on Castro's steal.
  9. Meaning Gordon will soon take his spot.
  10. Sure, they may stick their toes in the water. They did last year with Kepler (allegedly). And nobody offered anything of value (presumably). I would think Kepler's history/consistency would bring more than a fringe/former prospect or utility player. In other words: you're right. I bet they ask around. But I bet they don't make a move unless it's part of a larger package. And that's unlikely. This team doesn't need to clear space on the 40-roster. There are several AAAA players they can DFA at any time (Luphlow, Moran, Stevenson, etc). Though I suppose I'm forgetting about the 100 players on the 60-day IL.
  11. He has an option left. He's under 1000 MLB AB. His trade value is low. It seems obvious what's in store next year. A chance to reclaim his rank. Besides, have y'all watched the Twins the past 5 years? They're going to need to roster at least 9 outfielders over the course of a full season. This is the first year we didn't see any Ryan LaMarre-types (until September) and I'm thankful for that. Don't clean house on "former prospects" until you have to.
  12. Farmer is a great depth piece, but I think Castro and Lewis have pushed him out already. Add the depth of Julien, Lee, Gordon, and probably 2 more out-of-nowhere utility players next year and he's expendable at his asking price.
  13. I don't think the FO is basing anything on a "late season surge." Polanco has more than proven who he is (when healthy) as a MLB player. Whatever they do, they're basing it on his physical and their ongoing assessment, not the last 6 weeks of the 2023 season.
  14. I'd hardly call this a crowded 28-person roster. There are 2-3 expendable names that pop to mind with barely any thought.
  15. I'm far more concerned about the back half of the bullpen than I am who will be the 5th outfielder on a playoff roster.
  16. Straight to hyperbole. Why should I make up a scenario to "save you from ruin"? Do you want Vasquez at 2B in a meaningful game? That's a recent example of players out of position. It happens all the time. Of course you want capable defenders as backups...Just in case. There is a difference between "capable and needle-moving," yes. But Gallo is a backup in pretty much every scenario discussed here. His impact is relevant but minor. I'd understand the debate if his roster presence was blocking a big tool prospect. But it's not. I think you can make the case for Stephenson on the postseason roster for speed/defense. But even then, I think they drop a pitcher and keep both players mentioned. And neither of those players gets more than a few AB.
  17. What if there's an injury in the 2nd inning? Do you really want a makeshift defensive lineup for a whole postseason game? You may as well put Joe Webb at QB.
  18. Did I miss the official report that he's been "shut down"? (I mean, this article title suggests that 2023 is over and it certainly wouldn't be just a clickbait headline.) And in response to several other posters, the reason he was not put on IL is because is not injured. You can't just make up injuries, even if it seems that way to us sometimes.
  19. If the FO believes he was dogged by injuries this year, I'd guess he's back for 2024 in a prove-it way. As the last few years have shown, anybody on the 40 will get some MLB at bats. Make the most of it. 1B is a revolving door unless Kiriloff manages to stay healthy. If they think 2023 wasn't about health, I think Miranda is traded as a reclamation project, similar to Lopez with FL, maybe getting a low ball prospect in return.
  20. Who is going to trade their prospects for the Twins' former prospects?
  21. His presence in the starting lineup suggests otherwise.
  22. The clock is ticking for rehab opportunities with the shorter MiLB season. Fingers crossed, but given Stewart's injury history, I think he'll be lucky to pitch in MLB again. I hope he proves me wrong.
