  1. And they didn't get just Maeda but the Twins also got Jair Camargo. He may show up at target field this year.
  2. Instead of creating a phantom injury to give a player some time off (rest, work on a weakness, etc.), MiLB took the unusual route of honesty and instituted the development list. Any player can be placed on the development list for any reason and for any length of time. It gives the player the opportunity to recover from a minor injury, work on a perceived weakness in their game, or any other reason. No reason is even required. This also allows the player to remain with the team and acclimate to the life of a professional athlete. The only restriction is that the player cannot play in any games.
  3. As long as we're playing "make believe", why not have Duran start one day a week and be a reliever the other six?
  4. Paul Skenes is the #1 pitching prospect. He's averaging two strike outs per inning, has only allowed one run so far this season, and is about to join the Pirates. He's also only three months older than Maya. He's averaging just 3.33 innings a game. Sounds absurd to me but I guess that's the way it's done now.
  5. I've just finished all six pages of comments and I have one request. Would someone please enter the score and inning data every once in a while? For those of us that are 1500 miles away and do not get to view any Twins' games (unless they are playing the Red Sox in my case), it would be nice to know what's going on. Thanks.
  6. I sure does tell us something. It clearly says that April has been a bad month. Nothing more - nothing less. No conspiracies to uncover here.
  7. I'm hoping Duran gives the team an energy injection in about a week. And that Correa does the same two weeks after that. And then Lewis returns in June and energizes the team just as he did last year. And as long as I'm day dreaming, how about: Larnach keeps hitting. Martin keeps hitting. Lee gets healthy faster than anticipated. Margot and Santana get released. Did I go too far?
  8. None of the above makes any sense. Those are four sentence fragments with none having a conclusion. Please try a complete sentence that clearly explains your stance.
  9. If there is a team philosophy of home run or nothing, why haven't the "exceptions" you noted above been traded for players that fit the mold? I think the problem is that the Twins have a team comprised of mostly boneheads that believe the old adage that homeruns get the chicks. And following up on that, I have a serious question. Is it the front office's job to create a philosophy for the team? Or is their job to find players that fit the philosophy of the coaching staff? The front offices in other sports seem to draft/trade for players that fit the coaching philosophy. Why is baseball so different? Or is it? The blame the front office attitude at TD may be incorrect (about this subject, not in general).
  10. Strong opinions - definitely. Debate - more "you're wrong and I'm right!" than debate. Civil discourse - I assume that was satire?
  11. All I remember was that the Twins drafted the best reliever in the draft and tried to make him a starter. They should have left him alone.
  12. If a hitter doesn't hit as you expect, you will be vulnerable regardless of your foot speed. I have not witnessed instances of cheating towards Julien. Correa does move close to 2B for some left-handed batters, but that's true no matter who is playing 2B. Maybe you think he's cheating because he's moving faster this season and getting to more balls that are closer to Julien?
  13. Statcast could use an hour glass to tIme me. Back forty years ago when I was in my mid-30s, I lost 40 pounds over a winter and then spent the spring running 50 yard wind sprints to get ready for softball. My first time at bat, I hit a ball into the gap between the right-center and left-center outfielders. Time to show off the new me. I barely made it to second base. I was just as slow as ever. It was so disappointing that I gained all the weigh back (and a few extra).
  14. I have no idea if sprint speed is only calculated when a player is running at top speed or if they are measured every time they run, regardless of the effort. My old and somewhat cataract-impaired eyes have noticed that Julien cruises to first base rather than sprinting when he feels he's going to be thrown out. I hate that! Hustle at all times. You never know when a throw might be wild or mishandled.
  15. It's great to let the video tell the story. Too bad all I've gotten the past two days are a blank screen with a frowny face. I would have loved to see Correa gun down the runner.
  16. The topic of the 50th anniversary was discussed on MLB radio on Monday. The most interesting comment that no one picked up on was when one of the commentators said Aaron retired in 1973 - which was the year before he hit his historic home run. Now that's an amazing feat even for a great player like Aaron.
  17. I'm confused. The Saints are inviting fans to celebrate happy at local businesses in Lower town, but starting the game at 4:00PM? Is happy hour from 1:00 to 4:00 or 7:00 to 10:00? I thought happy hour was usually from 4:00 to 6:00?
  18. Even on an off day for all minor leagues, I enjoy reading the farm system daily updates more than reading about the Twins.
  19. I have a question. I am 1500 miles from the Twins Cities so all I know about the Twins farm system is what I read. Is Woods-Richardson's first name pronounced like Paul Simon or like San Simeon?
  20. Great job, Cody. It must have been a difficult task to find something positive to say about Sunday's game! 😀
  21. Isn't carioca where people get up on a stage and pretend they can sing?
