  1. It's "Tastykakes" for one thing (go with the butterscotch Krimpets); have some pierogi; if you're a 'beer' guy, try some Yuenglings; while it's brewed about 100 miles away in Pottsville, it is the oldest brewery in America.
  2. Well, since the arthroscopic clean-up apparently didn't do the trick, outside of replacement, I guess there's the possibility of using the microfracture stem cell surgery procedure if it's a cartilage damage situation. But like others have said, if that's the case, shut it down now, get the 'fix' underway and hope for the best in '24. *Edit. I guess there's the possibility that they tell him that to avoid the replacement at such a young age, he needs to avoid heavy stress on the joint, period.
  3. Speaking of steals, the arm on that Tee made picking Kepler off 2nd look awfully easy yesterday
  4. Not a fan of the road jerseys at home; they still letting the SP make the call on which uni they go with? And I know it's a random, meaningless question, I was just curious. (at least they went with the TC hats).
  5. At least for me, the two (plantar and 'bad' knee) have two very different types of pain; The knee, which I had to have cleaned up, looked like an underwater snow globe with the torn mensicus looking like a moray eel lurking in a bed of seaweed (torn cartilage that tries to fix itself by "growing) had that deep achy pain and the swelling just would not quit. It was more the functionality than the pain. The plantar, felt like a knife stabbing into the bottom of my foot. I don't think you could tape it up enough to keep it from stretching even just a little bit. Just excruciating. I bit the bullet and fixed it by 'completing' the tear on my basement steps and ice baths. I could play with the worst of my hangovers but they'd probably need to keep some extra infield dirt (or that red janitor's powder) handy for when my belly just said, "aaannnd we're out".
  6. As someone else stated, the Twins seem hesitant to go after the 1st pitch, which unless things have dramatically changed, is 180 degrees away from what they should be doing. Can't remember which book I'd read, but it said that pitchers want to get that 1st pitch over for a strike, and one would think with the bases loaded, that would even be more of a 'need'. The other part of that was that that 1st pitch is most often the 'best' hittable ball the batter will see in that AB. Wasn't Mauer's propensity to watch that 1st pitch go by for strike one high on fan's "pull your hair out" list of things? Now, I am not saying they should go up there thinking that they should swing away 100% of the time on the 1st pitch, but they should really keep in mind that the pitcher REALLY wants a strike there, and it might be their best/only opportunity for a hittable ball.
  7. and now a broken leg from a foul tip.....
  8. Zero interest in either one. I do have a question though; the way your piece (not sure if a blog or article, and maybe just semantics) is written, it sounds as if they will continue to sell alcohol throughout the night and during the concert after the game. Is that true?
  9. I don't see a way past the Umpire's Union with this, even though it shows true accountability. Let's say in the game Ted watched, the umpire ended up being wrong in all the challenges; Put up there on the big screen in glorious HD color, probably with multiple showings. The crowd (especially if the initial call was against a 'home' player) would eat him alive. If they can toss players for 'arm waving', yelling, and articulating as "showing up the umpire", how is repeated replays of their mistake not looked as that?
  10. Well, the image Melissa posted with the article should really give you an idea of what's what. Her shot is from the lower infield seats facing towards the stage at the back wall of centerfield. For "infield" seats (regardless of up/down the line or level) these are roughly about as close as you can get to the stage. If you want a better/closer view, you have to get the "floor" seats out there in the outfield grass. As others have noted, the sound is pretty good all over.
  11. No. Passing interest in the Flaming Lips (who I've seen a few times at other venues), the rest a hard 'pass'. Took a group to the Journey/Def Leppard show a couple years back, and even with decent "infield" seats it's a mile away from the stage (look for the people on the stage in the photo that goes with the article), but maybe in this day and age people just watch the show on the video boards. Anybody catching Graham Nash at the Dakota this week?
  12. As a craft beer drinker, does anyone know what the $6 beer options are? I've seen a lot of situations (like at regular bar happy hours) where only the cheap macro-brews are included in the "specials".
  13. I know it's risque but that shirt would be so much better if they replaced the "out of" with "at", and go for the double entendre action, but maybe my mind is just in the gutter this morning.
  14. And I agree with that, I don't go for the "food and beer", but that doesn't mean I don't like to have a snack or quench my thirst while sitting out on a sunny day, but the idea that it's going to cost me over $30 for a drink and a sandwich seems outlandish. (yes, I realize I can get a hotdog or popcorn for less). Huh. I just went to their website to look at ticket prices to compare against the food/drink ones and I see that they have made the ticket buying process as blurry as possible. They don't list ticket prices at all, you need to select an individual section and actually click on a seat to see how much it costs. No way to see what the "best seat available" is sorted by price at all. Wow. I guess when you sell out almost every game, you don't need to worry about it, but TBH, I find that whole method distasteful enough that it will certainly reduce the number of games I will attend this year.
  15. Food looks fabulous, BUT not seeing any pricing on any of it; and if the "$16" price for a tap beer in the initial photo (if you can call Mich Ultra beer) is any indicator, all of those items would look to be about $20+ except may the cheese bread.
  16. First off, I like the game as old school as possible "rules"-wise. No shift banning, no ghost, 3 batter minimum. However, I like the idea of the electronic umpire, pitch clock and keeping the batters in the batter's box. Things that can help shorten the game without "changing" it. But, since people are complaining about ALL games running too long, why not just go to an 8 inning game? You could (in theory), use one less reliever a game. and shorten the game up by 20+ mins --just like that. They obviously don't give a rat's behind about screwing with all the other 'traditions' of the game, why not this as well? Or go to a 6 inning game with 4 outs per inning (again, totaling 24 instead of 27 outs, but also eliminating 3 "between innings" time chunks, both of which would reduce overall game time).
  17. It is what it is, but part of me is utterly exhausted with the constant train of "If/Could" starting pitchers on this team, going back to I'd say, the Phil Hughes era. The number of articles written about the rotation where almost every single starter's writeup included an If/Could disclaimer...
  18. I had a great time when I did this trip a few years ago. I got the "roof closed" version, and it reminded me of a giant airplane hanger. The tailgating setup is a lot of fun and people take it seriously with how elaborate of a setup they can put up. Lots of breweries, driving into/through town it reminded me of an endless version of NE Mpls, with a corner bar on every corner, seemingly forever. If you have any passion for bowling, Holler House is the oldest bowling alley in the U.S. It's a bar basement 2 laner. It's not 'out of the way' and so to me, worth a stop. In regards to the lack of Chi games, there are 6:30p.m. starts in Beloit for the SkyCarp on Thr-Sat if you like High A ball. Kind of gives you an old time park reset after a couple games in MIL.
  19. All things being equal, I'd rather play these "most talented" teams early in the season, before they build momentum and get on a roll. I believe we have a better shot of winning while guys are still fine tuning and managers are still sorting out their day to day gameplans. Everything is a bit more volatile early in the season, try to take advantage of it.
