  1. Some shots of Target Field from March 22, 2010 when hope and excitement were maxed out and the possibilities were "just around the corner"...
  2. Your Stockholm Syndrome is showing. The Twins need to decide if they are "trying to win baseball games" or be "in the entertainment business". Sure, Pablo's a great guy, gives a good interview, is a "plus" in the community, loved in the clubhouse....... None of those things put "W"s in the win column. If he is favorable to a 1 year "make good" type contract with a team option, sure. But multi-year extensions with the league turmoil coming up? C'mon.
  3. Here's some food for thought: Number of SPs who made 15+ starts for their team and finished with ERA's over 5.00 last year: Rockies and Marlins: 4 each White Sox, Angels, A's, and Nats: 3 each Reds, Royals, Pirates, Cards, Rangers, Jays: 2 each I didn't look into injuries, etc., as I figured if they threw them out there 15+ times with those ERAs, they didn't have other options to go with. So, we're starting out with one foot in the tub while holding a toaster with an iffy cord.
  4. "he was facing an uphill battle to break into a deep major-league rotation out of camp" Outside of Ryan (and Lopez), only SWR had an ERA under 5 last year. While we've got a really deep MINOR-league rotation, we've only got 2 "knowns" for the Majors.
  5. Stafford has back problems and is older than Russell; not breaking the bank for a one year fling.
  6. Okay, so I guess they waited a while to piece together this whole new round of $$$ bumps and bonuses.... https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-revises-flecks-contract-new-annual-bonus/
  7. Minnesota Twins (@twins) • Instagram photos and videos WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM 12K likes, 202 comments - twins on February 6, 2026: "New navy jerseys unlocked 🔓".
  8. Not that it doesn't have anything to do with it, but I wonder if T Pohlad's phone calls with STH all had the same 'vibe', and knee jerk or not, this is the result.
  9. You should always "be listening". The problem is I don't think the Twins are capable of trading for the right players/prospects that will improve the team.
  10. Also teach JJMc that every throw doesn't have to be a fastball. I remember it took several years for John Elway to realize that.
  11. I did not, but, there's no postings or articles written about it here; a search of #twinsfest on X (twitter), a place where people post about EVERYTHING they do, basically came up dry. Even a general google search of Twinsfest (images) had almost nothing. It was just surprising, although maybe due the current strife, people didn't come downtown. Anyway, I'm just curious about the total lack of 'publicity' for the event. Not seeing anything for Twinslive either.
  12. What starting pitching depth? That's when you have a 1, a 2, and 4 3s, not 2 2s and a handful of 5s
  13. Not just Darnold; Garrett Bradbury is the starting Center for the Patriots. I wonder what their coaches did to unlock his game, because he was getting run over here.
  14. Yeah, you've got to give the Twins credit for keeping us angry and not slipping into outright apathy.
  15. Whichever one gets you a ring!
  16. Doc, you were thinking a little high I guess. We traded prospect catcher Baez for IF Tristan Gray instead. SMH.
  17. I was at the Twins site today and their chat 'bot' didn't know when single game tix go on sale. Also asked if they were going to be keeping the infield upper deck closed for the 1st month (or was it 2?) like last year. Of course, no answer for that either. Have STH gotten their plans/prices yet? *edit* I see that the package sales are up with pricing. Says that you're getting around 25% off the otherwise dynamic pricing. Don't think prices changed very much though clicking around the stadium, but you only get a coarse feel (infield sections show 3 different price ranges, I'd guess lower, middle, and higher row numbers of the section).
  18. OK, so I'm looking at this (and this entire off-season) from a $$$/value move going forward, and ignoring the 'makeup' of the team entirely. They aren't going anywhere this year, and the changes that occur with the new labor agreement are most likely going to far outweigh the attendance variations they'll incur by 'punting' the season. They will make value trades/signings (like this one) based on "what's going to be in demand" and what can give maximum flexibility on the field and at the trade deadline. So what if they end up with 5 1B? This year's record doesn't matter, you just want to have the trade chips that are in demand, and not have long term obligations. So, is this a good signing in that regard? IMO, yes.
  19. No problem; made me go looking...... From mlb.com: Pitching for the Twins’ Triple-A St. Paul affiliate early this season, Lovelady produced a 1.31 ERA in 19 appearances. He has held left-handed batters to a .567 OPS this season and to a .232/.325/.345 slash line over his six-year career. Lovelady, 29, talked to the Mets the past two offseasons but wound up signing elsewhere on both occasions. It was not until last month that his outlook began to change. In May, Lovelady triggered an upward mobility clause in his contract with the Twins, allowing him to negotiate with the 29 other teams. None offered him a Major League contract, so he stayed in the Twins organization a few weeks longer until reaching his opt-out date on June 15. At that time, Lovelady became a free agent and rekindled conversations with the Mets. Monday, the team formally signed him to a Major League contract. He was available out of the bullpen that night. I guess we had no use for him...
  20. So, I guess the thing to do would be to search/measure the quantity of "Byron Buxton" articles, social media mentions, 'searches', chatter, etc. by location from around the U.S.+ and see where they aggregate the highest?
