  1. What starting pitching depth? That's when you have a 1, a 2, and 4 3s, not 2 2s and a handful of 5s
  2. Not just Darnold; Garrett Bradbury is the starting Center for the Patriots. I wonder what their coaches did to unlock his game, because he was getting run over here.
  3. Yeah, you've got to give the Twins credit for keeping us angry and not slipping into outright apathy.
  4. Whichever one gets you a ring!
  5. Doc, you were thinking a little high I guess. We traded prospect catcher Baez for IF Tristan Gray instead. SMH.
  6. I was at the Twins site today and their chat 'bot' didn't know when single game tix go on sale. Also asked if they were going to be keeping the infield upper deck closed for the 1st month (or was it 2?) like last year. Of course, no answer for that either. Have STH gotten their plans/prices yet? *edit* I see that the package sales are up with pricing. Says that you're getting around 25% off the otherwise dynamic pricing. Don't think prices changed very much though clicking around the stadium, but you only get a coarse feel (infield sections show 3 different price ranges, I'd guess lower, middle, and higher row numbers of the section).
  7. OK, so I'm looking at this (and this entire off-season) from a $$$/value move going forward, and ignoring the 'makeup' of the team entirely. They aren't going anywhere this year, and the changes that occur with the new labor agreement are most likely going to far outweigh the attendance variations they'll incur by 'punting' the season. They will make value trades/signings (like this one) based on "what's going to be in demand" and what can give maximum flexibility on the field and at the trade deadline. So what if they end up with 5 1B? This year's record doesn't matter, you just want to have the trade chips that are in demand, and not have long term obligations. So, is this a good signing in that regard? IMO, yes.
  8. No problem; made me go looking...... From mlb.com: Pitching for the Twins’ Triple-A St. Paul affiliate early this season, Lovelady produced a 1.31 ERA in 19 appearances. He has held left-handed batters to a .567 OPS this season and to a .232/.325/.345 slash line over his six-year career. Lovelady, 29, talked to the Mets the past two offseasons but wound up signing elsewhere on both occasions. It was not until last month that his outlook began to change. In May, Lovelady triggered an upward mobility clause in his contract with the Twins, allowing him to negotiate with the 29 other teams. None offered him a Major League contract, so he stayed in the Twins organization a few weeks longer until reaching his opt-out date on June 15. At that time, Lovelady became a free agent and rekindled conversations with the Mets. Monday, the team formally signed him to a Major League contract. He was available out of the bullpen that night. I guess we had no use for him...
  9. So, I guess the thing to do would be to search/measure the quantity of "Byron Buxton" articles, social media mentions, 'searches', chatter, etc. by location from around the U.S.+ and see where they aggregate the highest?
  10. Additional Twinsfest details: https://www.mlb.com/twins/fans/twinsfest
  11. You do realize that the Pirates have consistently been one of the most profitable teams in MLB, don't you? Cut local costs to the bone and roll around in the shared media money, that's how.
  12. "Sheltie" -- Do you really like people calling you that? And as a follow up: "will you be getting your legs shortened"? Did you meet/interview with any of these new "shadow partners" ? And their names are? You finished runner-up to Rocco the 1st go round and saw how that played out, and yet you willingly came back? Can you explain/elaborate? Did you make sure that all the promises that were made to you were actually written into your contract? And that contract length is how long exactly?
  13. Just wondering what other people have been doing, but back during COVID (I was 55 at the time) I got out of bonds in my 401k altogether and haven't looked back. I realize we've been on quite the boom market ever since, but I just think about how much money people left on the table with the "classic" 70-30 or 60-40 splits that had been historically touted as "what to do", especially as you get older. You don't really hear much about the bond markets so much anymore. Will they ever "come back" or will people tend towards more dividend based stock portfolios?
  14. After y-day's debacle, I'm expecting a fresh Fleck extension to be announced tomorrow morning...
  15. Does anyone think that the new, apparently silent (for now at least) partners have been or will be given, any say in the matter? Or are they just a money infusion hoping to make their profit when the team does get sold, somewhere down the line?
  16. "Twins appear focused on candidates who reflect the organization’s values, rather than chasing the biggest name on the market. Each of the five known candidates brings an emphasis on preparation, communication, and development. Overall, the Twins seem intent on finding a manager who fits their identity as much as their strategy." Did they come up with that line off the back cover off of "How to manage in the Big Leagues 101"? Because I sure haven't seen them exude any of those qualities on for years and years now. "communication" -- What that they got rid of Dave St. Peter? There has been zero improvement in that area and if anything, it's gotten even worse. "development" -- pretty obvious when you look at the ongoing on-field shenanigans throwing to the wrong base, horrible base running, inability to bunt or hit behind the runner. "preparation" -- yeah preparation-H because these fools are just one big pain in the....
  17. Thanks for the list; it's fun to follow along with these guys this post-season. *note/Q* Kepler's #'s don't seem to be mathing or am I missing something?
  18. https://www.kttc.com/2025/10/06/north-star-sports-entertainment-network-announces-partnership-with-minnesota-united-fc/?fbclid=IwdGRjcANXOdpjbGNrA1c5mGV4dG4DYWVtAjExAAEeRF8hu_Ztdh7lpXQO0y_WyAyKMS1hLlGVgVpq-BWnaoVPYKigdVCX2X75Z4o_aem_flP4JzwySy4i7aSkntltwg That star looks familiar, and that company just started this past July.
  19. https://www.si.com/mlb/twins/minnesota-twins-news/report-espn-closes-in-on-twins-tv-rights-with-deal-that-could-raise-prices Yeah, that'll help *eyeroll*
  20. Let's be honest, the only reason they are actually pretending to 'connect' with the public is because (finally) people saw through a the BS they sling, and stopped buying tickets. Face it, when they "sell" 24,000 tickets to a game and only 9-10k show up, sure they got paid for those tickets, but when more than half of the people who bought decide to basically just throw their tickets away in disgust and not attend, that is not a good look, and certainly not a path to good things.
