  1. Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down?
  2. Needed a starter; Needed solid backups for oft injured "stars"; Needed bullpen help; Chose to do None of the above; They've literally taken me to where I don't even care what kind of TV package they put together for next year, I just don't care. Well earned apathy has set in.
  3. I'm really curious as to what kind of treatment they switched to. Everything I've read to this point makes me believe they were doing the rest/icing/stay off it/gentle stretching method. Whatever they switched to, to be as painful as it sounds, I'd guess might be real hardcore deep tissue massage that can do a more thorough stretching job of the tissues than basic stretches would. (Hurts so good?) The other, old school way, depending on the position and severity of the injury, was to sort of 'complete the tear' so as to take the tension out of the tissues to provide relief and let it heal. That would certainly bring people to tears, as described.
  4. Here's CBSSport's article on it: "Derek Bender reportedly told Single-A teammates that he wanted the season to be over" https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/twins-minor-league-catcher-cut-after-allegedly-telling-opponents-about-incoming-pitches-per-report/ He's young and all that, but you'd think kids growing up their entire lives in the social media era where everything gets to everyone, everywhere, immediately, and lasts forever would have better, what, 'awareness' of the repercussions of such things; could just be tired after a long season, or maybe even realized that this isn't "really" his passion in life.
  5. Ya know, Correa was playing great up until he got his 'plantar fasciitis' or did the Twins' medical staff misdiagnose a bad case of Gout? Too much sausage? 🤔
  6. Yeah, 'soft' can really be taken many ways; "fragile", maybe "frail" or is he old enough to be "dilapidated"? Tatterdemalion
  7. Can we kill the tired "Puckett beanball" trope once and for all? The getting hit in the head had little to nothing to do with Puck's career ending; untreated Glaucoma (which he freely admitted he should have been going in for checks, esp as a black man) did. https://www.completeeyecaremn.com/kirby-pucketts-vision-loss-25-years-ago/ https://www.startribune.com/the-morning-kirby-puckett-woke-up-with-blindness-25-years-ago-changed-everything/600039470
  8. Man, this is starting to look like that Brazilian plane crash, albeit in a slightly slower fashion. All this effort to get back on TV, just in the nick of time for fans to turn it off in disgust.
  9. McCarthy with torn meniscus ... Heading for surgery.
  10. Re: Parks comments: It's ALWAYS more severe than the 'Twins medical staff' initial indications, ALWAYS.
  11. Haven't started it yet, but a friend said "Your Honor" is pretty good, and I am a Bryan Cranston fan....
  12. Pohlad's buying price was $44M in 1984; current value estimate is $1.46B. Using those numbers, the value of the team has increased about $35M per year, for each and every year the Pohlads have owned it.
  13. Come on, we all know what the big acquisition/news will be; It will be that they got the team back on cable, which is kinda, almost, sorta, like adding a quality player; OK, maybe if they introduce a new, late season food item at Target Field as well.
  14. "View entire article" How do you view audio?
  15. If they don't get back on the tube, not even winning is going to make a difference. And if you think that it'll improve for the playoffs here's who has the broadcast rights for 2024: FOX, FS1, TBS, ESPN, ESPN2 and MLB Network. If you note, only Fox is a non-cable, non-subscription option.
  16. "This remains an area that is more Vikings than Twins and both the Wild and Timberwolves get good interest." Interesting point. Now the other 3 leagues are salary-cap leagues, so everyone (in theory) is operating on the same playing field. In the MLB, teams have a choice in how much/how hard they want to pursue a championship. Now, I know the readership here has long had the realization of how the Twins operate, and kind of stay 'grounded' in expectations, but what if the 'overall' fandom has come to that same conclusion; that the Twins priorities are just selling/profiting on 2 1/2- 3 hours of "entertainment", no different than a Monster Truck Rally or a Disney on Ice show, as opposed to "striving" to win a World Series?
  17. Out of their hands but injuries and 'iffy' play gives you: "Come out and see AK... er Miran... er Carlos....er Brooks...er hey it's Pablo Day (ooh, he's not doing so good right now either).... We've got new snacks!!!!"
  18. Another straw on the camel's back IMO, is not only did they cut payroll, they didn't sell upper deck seats (you know, the cheaper ones) for the 1st two months of the season. Did they think people would just willingly pay more? How many people saw that and said, 'OK, we'll look again after school's out'? How many tickets did that move cost them?
  19. Has Detmers had the requisite Tommy John surgery needed to join this team? Kinda sorta joking here, but I can just see the Twins make the trade, do their tinkering to add a few MPH and suddenly, the balky elbow appears..... eventually, you end up with a supposedly "fixed" pitcher, but with no controllable time left to see what you've got. Yeah, I know, you could talk yourself out of any trade this way, but the historical precedent is there....
