  1. It's been drizzling in Golden Valley since a little before 6 this morning, so I guess we'll see. It'll be off and on all day according to this morning's weather. 12:10 start, a couple rain delays, finish up around 6:30-7 LOL.
  2. Yeah, looks like ICONs nationwide closed. Nice to see someone do a quick flip (and keep the employees). I was wondering what would they do with such a large, defined place, considering how many years that Toby Keith location has sat empty.
  3. Having fun watching Tulsa King. On a side note, I guess there's too much streaming as I got the following e-mail this afternoon: St. Louis Park ShowPlace ICON at the West End has ended operations effective today. We would like to express our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to our guests for your unwavering support, loyalty, and enthusiasm over the many years. For those guests that have purchased advance tickets from the ShowPlace ICON website or app for showings after July 1, your tickets have been automatically refunded to the credit card used for purchase. All advance tickets purchased through Fandango or Atom Tickets are being refunded directly from those sites. Depending on your credit card bank processing, please allow 7-10 business days for the refund to show on your account. Thank you
  4. I'll take dry heat over the soup kitchen I stepped out into at 6 this morning all day, every day.
  5. So, since they are playing up the "Ripple Effect", shouldn't there be a return of the "Wave" on those nights?
  6. We have a ton of flower gardens and we started letting the milkweeds that popped up from time to time grow. So about 5 years ago we started growing Monarchs.
  7. I understand wanting to get the games in, but going from a rainout rescheduled to a day where they are more or less telling people to be careful and stay inside due to the extreme weather doesn't exactly seem 'fair'.
  8. Oh, isn't that the truth. I work in R&D at Seagate, and the number of staff meetings where the arguments essentially come down to the designers: : "the data doesn't match the models, we don't trust the data, you're doing something wrong"; the hardware test engineers: "the data is fine, your model doesn't take into account X, Y, and Z". "you're wrong". "no, you are".
  9. They asked players; players don't pay contracts; I think now that the contract(s) have started and he's got some time with the team, perhaps the question asked of GMs/owners should be: "if Carlos Correa became available to your team at no cost other than fulfilling his current contract, do you want him"? What do you feel the % of 'takers' may be? I think that gives you a more clear answer (and yes, I realize that wasn't the question asked, I'm just surmising).
  10. I love it. This shirt popped up in one of the ads posted on this site:
  11. Cousins tampering resolution. https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/atlanta-falcons-kirk-cousins-tampering-punishment/ Seems a bit like a "well we gotta fine them something" kind of thing.
  12. And I completely understand that; But.... are they being developed properly for the way they will be used on the Twins when they do get promoted? One could argue that the way they are used "up here", that they should be throwing anything and everything at these guys at AAA, moving them around the field, the batting order, whatever, while still maximizing their time on the field so when they do come up they are prepared for "that" aspect, and can focus on hitting pitching that is "a bit" better than what they are used to.
  13. I remember that hard dropping curve he had, but could never seem to master the control of it for strikes. I came across the following story from 2016 (Willie has had quite the life, I hope it is still going OK for him): https://www.nj.com/sports/2016/07/how_2_strangers_saved_nj_pitching_legend_ex-yankee.html
  14. I don't want this to take this off the rails, but it made me wonder: do the Saints play the same "style" of baseball (meaning the Rocco heavy platoon and propensity to pull/pinch hit non-stop) as the Twins? I don't think I've ever heard anyone bring that up at all. If the young(ish) guys are playing all game, every day in a consistent batting order location at AAA, and are brought up to play the "Twins" way, it could be tough to find your rhythm with not only the upgrade in talent faced, but just even figuring out your "role" when being used in what might seem like an utterly random way compared to what you've been doing. So, to keep it short, do the Saints play the same style? If not, should they? Does anyone know if this has even been discussed (organizational SOP?).
  15. They were highlighting the fans wearing the new gear at the park on the telecast* all night. * Big Louie's in Crystal has the Twins...
  16. Are you seeing "Minneapolis Lakers" stuff", or "LA Lakers" stuff, because TBH, the most non-Wolves NBA team gear you see in prevalence around the cities is still the Bulls, and it isn't even close.
  17. Bloomington is not Minneapolis and they hosted the Twins between 1961 and 1981; they moved into the Humpty Dump Downtown for the 1982 season.
  18. Obvious? The Lakers left the Twin Cities prior to the 1960 season. That is going on 65 years ago, 70 if you want to consider being old enough to remember them at all. TBH, I don't think I've even ever seen a Mpls Lakers jersey/shirt of any kind and I've more or less lived here my entire life (I'm 59).
  19. Oh, and I guess no Sponsor patch either. Thought for sure this would be the best (delayed) time to introduce it. Or are we being sponsored by the MLS Minnesota United?
  20. Hah! The hat already come pre-customized for me! Outside of the hat, not a fan though. I get the idea, but with the weird "see through" uni issues this year, the jerseys look sort of like they are semi transparent with something else underneath (I know they are not, but they appear that way). Not a fan of the yellow. Are we from Milwaukee?
  21. Or this?:
  22. I actually kinda like them, although it isn't lost on me that they would be more apt for a team that actually plays outside.....
