  1. As a craft beer drinker, does anyone know what the $6 beer options are? I've seen a lot of situations (like at regular bar happy hours) where only the cheap macro-brews are included in the "specials".
  2. I know it's risque but that shirt would be so much better if they replaced the "out of" with "at", and go for the double entendre action, but maybe my mind is just in the gutter this morning.
  3. And I agree with that, I don't go for the "food and beer", but that doesn't mean I don't like to have a snack or quench my thirst while sitting out on a sunny day, but the idea that it's going to cost me over $30 for a drink and a sandwich seems outlandish. (yes, I realize I can get a hotdog or popcorn for less). Huh. I just went to their website to look at ticket prices to compare against the food/drink ones and I see that they have made the ticket buying process as blurry as possible. They don't list ticket prices at all, you need to select an individual section and actually click on a seat to see how much it costs. No way to see what the "best seat available" is sorted by price at all. Wow. I guess when you sell out almost every game, you don't need to worry about it, but TBH, I find that whole method distasteful enough that it will certainly reduce the number of games I will attend this year.
  4. Food looks fabulous, BUT not seeing any pricing on any of it; and if the "$16" price for a tap beer in the initial photo (if you can call Mich Ultra beer) is any indicator, all of those items would look to be about $20+ except may the cheese bread.
  5. First off, I like the game as old school as possible "rules"-wise. No shift banning, no ghost, 3 batter minimum. However, I like the idea of the electronic umpire, pitch clock and keeping the batters in the batter's box. Things that can help shorten the game without "changing" it. But, since people are complaining about ALL games running too long, why not just go to an 8 inning game? You could (in theory), use one less reliever a game. and shorten the game up by 20+ mins --just like that. They obviously don't give a rat's behind about screwing with all the other 'traditions' of the game, why not this as well? Or go to a 6 inning game with 4 outs per inning (again, totaling 24 instead of 27 outs, but also eliminating 3 "between innings" time chunks, both of which would reduce overall game time).
  6. It is what it is, but part of me is utterly exhausted with the constant train of "If/Could" starting pitchers on this team, going back to I'd say, the Phil Hughes era. The number of articles written about the rotation where almost every single starter's writeup included an If/Could disclaimer...
  7. I had a great time when I did this trip a few years ago. I got the "roof closed" version, and it reminded me of a giant airplane hanger. The tailgating setup is a lot of fun and people take it seriously with how elaborate of a setup they can put up. Lots of breweries, driving into/through town it reminded me of an endless version of NE Mpls, with a corner bar on every corner, seemingly forever. If you have any passion for bowling, Holler House is the oldest bowling alley in the U.S. It's a bar basement 2 laner. It's not 'out of the way' and so to me, worth a stop. In regards to the lack of Chi games, there are 6:30p.m. starts in Beloit for the SkyCarp on Thr-Sat if you like High A ball. Kind of gives you an old time park reset after a couple games in MIL.
  8. All things being equal, I'd rather play these "most talented" teams early in the season, before they build momentum and get on a roll. I believe we have a better shot of winning while guys are still fine tuning and managers are still sorting out their day to day gameplans. Everything is a bit more volatile early in the season, try to take advantage of it.
  9. I saw the picture that goes with the article and thought, "hmmm, looks like they've got the 2024 alternative jersey figured out".
  10. Sounds like a right handed David West. Hopefully, they have better luck.
  11. It's a calculated risk, no different than buying a car with a "new" transmission or a discounted price on an open box, "refurbished" big screen TV at CostCo. "Should" be OK, and probably will, but until you reach a certain time with it, you'll always have that little worry about things going wrong. So, I guess we'll have to wait and see how it shakes out. That said, after the "Dior" comment, Carlos Correa will forever be "CostCo" to me. Heck, it even sounds good as a cheer, "Let's Go, CostCo, cha cha cha"
  12. I guess it makes the team better overall, so in that I'm glad. I'll want to puke every time they play up the "I really like it here and wanted to be here", "this was really my 1st choice", "these are the guys I want to win with" LIES, LIES, and more LIES. You wanted max dollars, period. Don't even try to lie about it. You literally agreed to deals with two other teams already, so don't go trying to blow smoke up everyone's ass.
  13. I was looking back on my life, And all the things I've done to me; I'm still looking for the answers, I'm still searching for the key
  14. I agree with you; more likely a case of Terry Ryan style "non-speak" . Twins FO present their numbers to Boras and CC, Boras chuckles while CC face palms shaking his head. FO leaves office able to state "well, they didn't specifically say "no", so we're still in it".
  15. Matt Carpenter signed a 1 yr deal for $12M. I think I'd prefer him.
  16. And here I was thinking it was a "pre-payment" for next year when Boras deems his 9th best pitcher to sign with the Twins. But with the Twin's luck, they'll get busted, get fined, and lose a pile of draft picks.
  17. Don't forget "still shows flashes" and "just needs a fresh start"
  18. And along those lines, does anyone (because I have no clue) know how the Pirates, A's, Reds 'market' their teams? I know the Reds fans are at war with their owner who has stated that the fanbase should feel lucky they're a small market team or they wouldn't have any team at all. https://www.thebiglead.com/posts/reds-president-move-team-comments-fans-cheer-bad-01g0fj4zgf95
  19. But then you can't keep signing injured/history of injury/recovering from injury players and say "we just need to be healthy".
  20. I think the Pohlads and FO have decided that they really don't own/operate a MLB team as much as they own an "Entertainment Destination" like ValleyFair or MoA's Nickelodean Universe that just happens to have 'professional' baseball as one of the rides/amenities. In doing so, they've disgusted the actual baseball fans, and are now starting to see that no matter how many foods/bars/flashing lights/loud music you add, it's become "been there/done that" for the casual TF visitor, no different than going to the Ren Fest a couple years in a row, then saying 'nothing changes except the price keeps going up', and then stop going. It gets to the point where the cost aspect almost isn't relevant; as others have stated, can't even give tickets away, the value vs. the effort just isn't worth it --- even for free.
  21. If you aren't prepared to swim, then don't pretend you know how to get around in the deep end just for show. There just isn't a "cute lifeguard" option for the ending of this movie.
  22. Were we reading the same article? I didn't see a single "offer" mentioned, just a bunch of "where things sit right now" facts. The FO would be idiots to not listen to what other teams had to offer; they are not forced to act on them.
