  1. "The Weirdest Move Minnesota Could Make" Well, I guess they could ask for a new, domed stadium.....
  2. My only guess is that they want to get them out there in plenty of time for the Holiday shopping season.
  3. Update: https://www.startribune.com/bally-sports-north-standalone-app-set-to-launch-on-sept-26/600199056/ No Twins as yet. I had to get Bally's online (and it took them a while) for them to come up with the streaming quality --- 1080p. $19.99/mo or $189.99/yr.
  4. Where did he have the surgery done? I know Tria does a 'fast track' style of rehab where you start PT (even for an ACL replacement) just days after the surgery, whereas TC Ortho tends to go with a 6 week immobilization then starting rehab/PT.
  5. As an aside, you any relation to Sammy Hagar?
  6. I posted about this article yesterday and got my *ss ripped. Thanks a lot.
  7. 6:40p.m. game start 9:40p.m. game end 15 minute 'break' 75 minute show So, you'll start leaving Target Field at about quarter after 11. I wonder if they'll extend the light rail runs since the last ones (blue and green) leave at 11:15/11:20.
  8. Has he quit nibbling? If not, it really doesn't matter how many types of pitches he throws.
  9. 1. Who plays short? 2. We already have Correa; The pitchers you mention will be available to anyone. And why would they take one year deals? You're talking committing to probably 5 years each, with escalating yearly salaries. You see the Twins doing that? My idea commits (god I hate to say 'only' but) only a one-time $10M payout to get you to next year which buys time to see how Lewis heals and if Gordon improves.
  10. Just so I'm not called out as ageist, I love Fenway, and personally think Wrigley is a dump. Yeah, it's on the bucket lists, and I've been there myself, and overall, the experience is great, especially getting to, and hanging outside the park. And as a longtime Metrodome attendee, I can even say I enjoy the troughs, but you know, the sightlines are crap, the place is 100 coats of paint over rust, it just doesn't cut it. Best part of Milwaukee is their tailgating arrangement.
  11. Wasn't Sano supposedly down 25lbs before the season started? This is the 'celebration' picture where he hurt his knee. There is no way he isn't pushing 3 bills there. It's time to cut the cord. It's obvious he isn't taking his career seriously. *picture from Startribune.com
  12. I get up at 5am, so I haven't jumped on any of the bargain seats; I used to be a 40 game STH, but they started hosing anyone without a full ST in game amenities, quality of seats and such when they moved to Target Field. I kept my seats initially, but closest I could get was the beginning of the outfield grass (I'd been 15 rows off the field between the mound and 1st at the dome). Home opener no longer included in package, option to keep seats for playoffs gone; then ability to buy full playoff strips gone. After being a season ticket for all those years and willing to buy the best tickets, I could get seats at the top of the top level on the 3rd base side for 1 playoff game. They lost me. And they just keep after adding restaurants and bars. And now this. If I was a STH paying a minumum of $50/seat to be on the 1st level, I'd be livid. But the Twins don't care. I'm not their targeted audience anymore, I'm an actual baseball fan. I'll have a beer or two (that I brought from home) before the game and maybe one at the game, but for the most part I want good seats to sit and WATCH THE GAME. Hate all the music and crap. No OTA broadcasts.... At least they moved back to 'CCO, I struggled to pull in KSTP way out in rural Golden Valley.
  13. Donaldson (known quantity) vs. Miranda (unknown quantity) + "nada". I will never assume the Twins are committed to spending to a certain level. When Correa walks the end of this season, you really think they're 'committed' to spending that $30M on another $30M/yr player?
  14. I guess my musing for the day is whether I'd prefer Story or Correa under the conditions of the contracts they just signed.
  15. This is actually perfect for Boras. He's got big money guaranteed for the next 3 years, with the ability to shop his client literally the entire time he is playing for us.
  16. How much more would a straight 3 year deal have cost? The opt outs are a killer.
  17. It's a one year rental. The opt outs essentially say so. I hate it. Now we have a top (cheater) player who will be 'advertising' for his next job/team before he even steps on the field with us. Yeah, that's a great feeling, So now the Twins will be on pins and needles sorting out their SS position the next few years. Is he staying, is he going? Do we need to rewrite the contract? What do you do with Martin, Lewis? Expendable? But then when Correa leaves after a year? I hate this move.
  18. Michael Cuddyer: In Minn .272 .343 .451 .794 In Col .307 .362 .525 .886 In NYM (granted last year in MLB) .259 .309 .391 .699
  19. Louise Pohlad, without whom we probably wouldn't be having this discussion. Tony O. The smile alone. Our version of Mr. Baseball Hrbek The "one of us" made good Killer 'from the beginning' Puckett 'climb on my back' and 'we'll see you tomorrow night" Other than being a good player, Mauer just doesn't instill or evoke emotions in me the way gazing at such a monument should.
  20. Perhaps in the competitive balance award money there could be some sort of wins/payroll algorithm where if you aren't spending money and you aren't winning you get less than teams that aren't spending money and are winning. So put some sort of value on regular season wins. Keeps teams from eating too many bad contracts on injured/bad players just to reach some arbitrary 'floor'.
  21. And actually being favored in a game or series would be nice as well, as opposed to being a speed bump.
