  1. Re: Jones Ignore the clickbait headline.... https://heavy.com/sports/nfl/minnesota-vikings/jones-contract-free-agency-oconnell-akers-chandler/ the gist: The Vikings and RB Aaron Jones agreed to move the void date on his contract from this Monday until the final day before free agency Don't think they'd be doing this unless they're trying to bring him back (at some lower price???)
  2. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/02/ty-france-to-serve-as-twins-starting-first-baseman.html Swell. What does this say about our vaunted Minor League system? We are literally penciling in a million dollar non-guaranteed contract guy, coming off a poor, 'injury' season to be the starting 1B this year. I guess when he was working out with perennial All-Star Denny Hocking 🙄, Denny slipped him those damning Pohlad photos he used to use to stay on the team back in the day. Yes, I know talk is easy and cheap and folks need to 'create' stories, but c'mon.
  3. Classic Philly fans...... https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/eagles-gm-howie-roseman-gets-hit-in-the-head-with-a-beer-can-at-super-bowl-championship-parade/
  4. As a fan, I love this stuff (analysis) because, you know, "science"; But I don't want to put this kind of info in Rocco's hands...... So, since you have all the data (at least for BB and RL), do we see any variation depending upon whether they are facing a 'same' or 'opposite' handed pitcher? Ooh, and how about, does the data match up with the old adage of "shortening up the swing with two strikes to make better contact/protect the plate"?
  5. Blow it up. Floor of $125M on a 3 year rolling average; cap at $250M rolling 3 year average; earlier free agency; all TV revenue shared. This would allow expansion into more (smaller) cities because the cost parameters are known and controlled. Salt Lake City, Nashville, the Portlands, Vancouver, Montreal, Buffalo, extra NY or Cali teams could all exist. Make making the playoffs a more lucrative situation. Maybe my numbers would need to be tweaked, but give ALL the players a better situation overall. No more "competitive balance money" would need to exist. If the players don't like it, they can go play in Japan or wherever. Now I'm not 'siding' with ownership, I want the $$$ being made to be more or less like the roughly 50/50 balance the other major sports have. If the the LAs and NYs don't want to play ball, they don't have to. For the overall long term good of the game, they need to pull the band aid off and look at reality. Pretend you were starting the league from scratch, how would you go about it? Certainly not like it is now, right?
  6. Guess it's time to hire the Amazing Alexander to 'adjust' some mindsets......
  7. For all the conundrums the usage of opposite handed "openers" caused Rocco last few years, they may be hoping to have Danny "start" a few games against certain opponents...
  8. To me, the question here is who did they miss out on by not scooping out of the barrel early, and waiting for the dregs to settle? Compared to what we ended up with, who spent early, say, up to 10% more, and got much better results? Ultimately, that is what you're asking, isn't it? (I'm not going looking, but you must have all that data more or less at hand since you just did this article)
  9. I'm starting to think that all this quietness is in part that the Ishbias are waiting to see if the financing for the new White Sox stadium at "The 78" will be hammered out. As "mid single digit %" owners of the Sox, they would need to sell that before being allowed to buy the Twins; That said, the opportunity to buy the White Sox while a whole new development project is being built around the new stadium site (hmm, sound familiar?) would have to be appealing. Now, Chicago is broke, and getting the public financing is causing problems (again, sound familiar?), but when has that ever stopped a project from being pushed through? Obviously, the Twins would be a fabulous back-up plan...
  10. Austin Hays went for 1yr/$5M. RH, can cover all 3 OF spots, bats reasonably well against L&R pitching.....
  11. From Sports Illustrated: Report: Ishbias want Minneapolis sports figures involved in Twins ownership group https://search.app/tiKA59JLFUDMX1NK8 Interesting. They mention all kinds of guys.
  12. None of the above, especially for a one year rental. Even with a sign and trade, which isn't happening under current ownership.
  13. So you're ready to jump in with both feet....uumm with both arms extended.
  14. Wasn't Lee "thought to be that good"? We seem to have tons of "the next...." prospects. How many have panned out?
  15. Once again, Bill's Mafia show some class: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/bills-fans-donate-thousands-to-charity-of-ravens-te-mark-andrews-following-dropped-pass/
  16. Yeah, Ol' Crooked Cap; the guy Twins fans could hate with a passion be it with the Tribe or the Evil Empire. Not saying he isn't deserving, he is, I'd just grit my teeth, curse a bit, and hope for a continuous flow of bunts to force him to field his position whenever he'd start against us.
  17. Hmm. I kind of think of this differently. These aren't going to be Ambassadors (Hrbek, Oliva, etc.) being regular 'faces' at events and such, they are investors who know the game, and also as a plus, are ex-Twins. Of course they will appear at some functions, give interviews and such, but they aren't going to be doing a Derek Jeter level type gig. So, why wouldn't a Big Papi, or AJ be interested? They are still in the public eye doing media type things. Jack Morris is another. Roy Smalley for sure. How many baseball owners complain about "losing money"? Look at what the Pohlad's will be walking away with. Why wouldn't guys like/want that opportunity?
  18. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/SB-Blogs/Newsletter-Media/2023/12/11.aspx "the Dodgers -- has an ironclad RSN contract that pays an average of $334 million per year through 2038" Now, as has been pointed out, $167M of that goes into the pool, but the other half is guaranteed revenue for the next 13 years. That covers a lot of holes.
  19. Don't forget, Twins still haven't haven't monetized their jersey advertising option yet. (why is that, exactly?) I've seen overall league estimates as $400-500M a year. So, even if we only got $10M, that would cover a LOOGY at the very least.
  20. OK. So if I live in Golden Valley, and have MLB.TV (I get with T-Mobile), I'm good to go? I figure this is the 'cut to the chase' question most people will have, so there it is.
  21. May be irrelevant, but outside of California (Dodgers, Padres, Giants) and Washington (Mariners), and New York (Mets, Evil Empire), Toronto has one of the higher % of Japanese/Japanese American people. Granted it's only a little over 1%, but compared to everywhere else, it's a markedly larger number. Now if Vancouver had a team....
  22. Not a horrible idea. Could be the new owner's "big splash" signing.
  23. "When Castro was tendered this was evident." Yeah, non-tendering the team's MVP would've really gone over well the way the last 6 months have played out.
