  1. He was acquitted by a criminal court. The issue is over.
  2. Apparently, the courts didn't think so and he was acquitted in criminal proceedings. So let's drop the guilty until proven innocent talk about sexual stuff. The court ruled she was a willing participant and even took social media pictures of herself with a smile on her face and bragged about the encounter via texts. The two of them were engaged in rough "kinky" behavior. Bauer has never embraced bigotry that i've ever heard of. Would be interesting to hear these rumors, lol. Interesting how Sano got the benefit of the doubt from fans here when he had allegations leveled against him. Now regarding him (Bauer) being a clubhouse problem that's a different story and i agree on that. That said, i almost think this club could use a guy with fire to get these guys fired up. To me they are still too lackadaisical at times. Sometimes an abrasive player can bring out the best in his teammates, similar to what Michael Jordan did with the Bulls. Jordan was extremely abrasive and even openly hostile to his teammates if he felt they were slacking off or not playing to his abilities. I'm not saying Bauer is that kinda of abrasive, but it is a thought.
  3. Really? That's not what a lot of fans here were saying about him when he was here.
  4. Exactly. IT does appear he really doesn't want to be a Twin and wants to go play in big city NY with all the glamour. Minnesota is not for everyone.
  5. Interesting. Makes me even more leery about what the Twins supposedly offered him. The one thing they do have in their favor is that Correa does not really want to play in Minnesota for the rest of his career. I still think he works something out with the Mets at the end of the day.
  6. I don't know. Depends on what the medicals reveal about his ankle. If it's that serious of an issue for two teams to get cold feet about him, i'd shorten the length of the contract considerably. There is absolutely no sense in offering a 10 year contract that will take this guy into his 40's when his ankle and back are long term issues. And if the Twins get cold feet and reduce the offer I don't blame them one bit.
  7. why not make it 60 million or 100 million for one year with opt outs? "The Twins can afford it," "do whatever it takes" is all we heard for weeks from certain fans here. IF it's an all or nothing approach. Go all in. We all know that he's as good as Joe Mauer maybe even better right? All kidding aside, Correa isn't signing here. He never wanted to stay in Minnesota and both he and Boras played the Twins like a fiddle. Time to move on.
  8. i can't quit the Twins because i'm addicted to dumpster diving.
  9. I don't think it truly matters at this point. This is not a playoff bound team. If anything they should be looking to deal the few good pieces they do have like Buxton, Polanco, etc. to bring back as many prospects as possible. I don't think this current batch of guys will ever be playoff caliper.
  10. Pointless signing. Fully commit to the rebuild this season and stop the dumpster diving.
  11. I know some will disagree with this but i think the Twins could have used Rodon, but like Correa i think he was looking to play in a big city market so it was a moot point.
  12. There's a difference between doing whatever it takes to win (cheating being one of them) and vesting yourself in a team. The two don't always align. And I do think the Twins were serious about trying to sign him, but I also don't think he would have been happy being a Twin long term because they would not have made more corresponding moves to bring in better players to compliment him with his bloated salary on the roster. Someone else here brought up the point that he's a big market in the spot light kinda player, which i agree with. That probably also played a factor. He likely WANTED to go to NY or to California which is fine. And we don't know for sure if Boras really circled back to the Twins other than to drive other teams to up their anty. The Athletic's piece is also pure speculation, and we also don't know if the Twins said "no thanks either." From what I've heard they said the offer was still on the table. On the last point i agree Boras is definitely full of tricks and it certainly appears he did play the Twins, but i do give the Twins credit for not biting off more than they could chew and signing him to an albatross deal, which honestly would have been a terrible contract a little over halfway through, given Correa's back issues and apparently ankle issues. Either way water under the bridge now, time to move on.
  13. BINGO. And that will always be a problem for this team. I don't think it was 100% about the money. Probably first and foremost on his mind was a chance at winning a world series and then a close second money. The Twins didn't really have a chance from the very start, which is why I still think they should have traded him last fall before the deadline. Oh well I guess. Regardless, I'm relieved he didn't sign with the Twins. The last 4 or 5 years of that deal are gonna be bad, bad, BAD for the Mets. Given his injury history I would be nervous giving him even 10 years.
  14. i really don't agree with this statement other than the mentoring part. Correa WAS NOT a vested part of this organization, never was. He simply made a few statements down the stretch and used the Twins as a stepping stone to get a bigger payday and jump to an organization that has a chance at winning something. And on the last point i don't blame him. Who wants to play for a team that is a perennial loser and never takes the final step to become good. That last tidbit aside, his agent is Boras who's a shark. Our front office must have been expecting this when they went out and got Farmer. I'm sure Boras told Correa him what to say, when to say it, and good for him. We know the Twins made several offers of differing amounts, length of contract, etc. What happened beyond that is pure speculation, but in this case I think they deserve a bit more credit. They still got played but they tried, as agonizing as that is to say. What the Giants did was beyond stupid. In fact it was so stupid they got cold feet and backed up. In contrast the Mets offer was much much closer to the Twins and yet did he come back to the Twins for a second look? Nobody knows, but considering how quickly he jumped to the Mets leads me to believe he didn't. If he really wanted to be a part of this team and truly was "vested in this organization" he would have opened up negotiations with them again and at least talked to them some more. Somehow i doubt that happened given the timing which tells you all you need to know. He didn't really want to remain a Twin and just said all the right things as a player who wants a big payday, and honestly you can't blame him, it's business.
  15. I agree. I'm kinda glad the Twins didn't sign Correa either. I just have a gut feeling that deal is gonna end up being a bad BAD contract, even for the money rich Mets. That said, I think the Front office got schooled and it appears they threw all their effort into the Correa deal. The Gallo and Farmer signings do next to nothing to moving this team to competitiveness. And to all those giving Sherry a hard time about Carlos Rodon. Carlos was signed that day and the other sports websites started reporting it between 7-9pm, while her article was posted around noon. I think she deserves a pass.
  16. Yep. That's what made me so nervous about what the Twins offered, which would have been a HUGE deal for them. Considering Correa will be in his early 40's at the conclusion of that contract and has a history of back problems (which i can attest too, never go away), it was a very risky deal for this franchise in my opinion. Would have it been great to have him? Sure, but at what price long term?
  17. that's not inflation that's insanity. Russo is 100% correct. The giants deal / no deal was beyond stupid.
  18. Terry Ryan made some decent trades and even brought in some decent talent. But you are correct part II was not a good tenure for him.
  19. Honestly if this is the best this front office can do, (which is a total strikeout), they should all be fired. Falvey and Levine GONE. I'm sorry but completely unacceptable. I understand why they didn't sign Correa because what the Giants did was insanely stupid (amount and length of contract). I agree 100% with Russo on that. But the fact that they haven't done ANYTHING besides dumpster dive moves so far this offseason is a complete utter fail in my book, no ifs ands or butts. They have way too much payroll flexibility for this nonsense. Either that or they should have finally committed to a full rebuild at the end of last season. I mean the Twins had to have known that Correa was going to screw them over and opt out. I mean the guy is a known cheater with an iffy personality, despite all the hype. Now they got nothing for Correa when they could have at least traded him for prospects at the deadline. This front office doesn't know what it's doing, has no vision, is completely apathetic, and has no real interest in moving the needle either way. At this point i'd rather have Terry Ryan back to be perfectly honest.
  20. I'm all for figuratively blowing the team up and starting over from scratch. This current crop of young talent aside from Buxton and a couple of others is not a competitive playoff bound team and likely never will be with the current level of talent, plus the gaping holes in the infield, behind the plate, and in the starting staff. Too many to be precise. Start over, trade everyone that is tradeable, find a new GM, rework the entire coaching staff, and find a new Manager. Clean house top to bottom. Falvey has had more than enough time to get this team on track and it's not working. It has been 18 years since the last time the Twins won a playoff game. That is completely unacceptable.
  21. Sorry but 13 years 350 million for Correa was insanity. I'm glad the Twins didn't sign him to that deal. It would have tied their hands financially for years. Good riddance.
  22. i would be happy as a pig in you know what if they managed to do just that.
