  1. My guess is the Twins have intel that Lackey is gonna fall to #3. I'd rather have Flora.
  2. it would seem to me that the Twins should be looking to draft 1st base prospects in the upcoming draft.
  3. Hopefully Matthews pitches well and forces that decision. I'm not holding my breath that this will happen, but SWR has been atrocious this season.
  4. SWR is just lost in his starts. he's not the same pitcher form the last two years. IT's a shame.
  5. So Lopez - done for the season, Abel probably out a few more weeks at least, Bradley likey out until August, Festa still is not right…. That leaves Ryan, SWR, Ober, and uhhhhh fill in the blank. This team is so doomed now.
  6. Kinda like the overlook hotel in the Shining? 🤣
  7. I think that’s almost a certainty now and most of baseball knows it. It’s gonna be mostly locked out season if they play at all. Salary cap incoming
  8. The future is now. I think that if Culpepper, Jenkins, and E-Rod are healthy in the second half you have to call them up given how bad the lineup is. The Twins have needs in so many areas it's not even funny. They still don't have a long-term answer for 1st base.
  9. Yeah my thoughts too. This pen is SOOOOOOO bad I don't think it's a question but a given.
  10. I think the Twins will wait on SWR until they know if Abel can get healthy before moving him to the pen. However, if he continues to pitch this poorly into June HE WILL get demoted to the pen eventually. They also mentioned Lewis who I think is also treading on thin water. He's played so poorly Shelton has been sitting him out recently and he too might get benched. If Culpepper gets hot later in this season I think Royce loses his spot.
  11. At what point do they call it? I mean it's been 2+ season of no hitting from him. He just passed 1000 AB's and his last two seasons he's at 0.7 WAR and this year he's even worse at -0.2 WAR. Ever since 2023 and those 58 games when he was really good he's completely tanked. To me that says the league has figured him out and he can't adapt. I mean honestly just throw him off-speed stuff that drops out of the strike zone and he'll swing at it regardless. I really think part of his problem is he doesn't have much of an eye at the plate (some guys don't, Sano was another example of this). His stance is bad too, but I'm also beginning to wonder if he's just lazy and doesn't watch film and prepare for games. In June 2024 he said, "I don't do slumps." Uh yeah ya do Royce. In September 2024, in response to his teammate Carlos Correa suggesting young players weren't stepping up, Lewis responded saying the blame shouldn't fall only on the "cheap guys." THIS May, during this latest slump he told reporters after a game, "I'm tired of being the one who's being bullied and picked on by this game." What does that even mean? Then he told reporters a few weeks later, "the hope is gone." Royce has got much bigger issues going on right now. He needs to be sent down to AAA to straighten them out.
  12. You are assuming they COULD spend that money effectively and wisely. It's not just the amount of money.
  13. Lewis is not winning anything. He can't hit the broad side of a barn with a 10' pole, that's how bad his hitting has been going on 2 years now.
  14. When you look at MLB film room for SWR's primary pitches (splitter, four-seam fb, slider), the splitter and four-seam fb look nearly identical this year. He doesn't really have any other offerings other than a curveball he throws a handful of times in a game. He also doesn't have a whole lot of movement on his off-speed stuff either. Whereas Joe Ryan in contrast has a four-seam fastball, sinker, slider, sweeper, knuckle curve, and splitter. Bailey Ober gets into trouble too because his changeup is his primary out pitch and his sweeper, slider and four-seam all look like similar pitches. So really he's a two-pitch pitcher kinda like SWR.
  15. If that's true the Twins had better trade him by this deadline otherwise they are losing a front of the rotation starter for practically nothing. They should have been taking calls for him last year seriously.
  16. Brad Radke's changeup could be straight filthy at times. Absolute work horse. He had a couple of bad seasons and few mediocre ones, but he was on fire in 1997 and still managed to win 20 games for a team that only won 68. If he had played on a real winning contender in 1998, 1999, and 2000 he would have won 20 games in each of those seasons. He played on some REALLY REALLY bad Twins teams in the mid to late 90's. He should be in the Hall of Fame. I still think that if Liriano hadn't blown out his UCL in 2006, and Radke hadn't torn his labrum and had a stress fracture in his right shoulder, with Johan Santana firing on all cylinders, that team makes it to the world series.
  17. Yes, agreed. All those young guys in the pen and in the rotation need to watch him carefully. Throwing hard is great, but can you really pitch? Ober doesn't throw hard but he can pitch. I'll eat crow, I thought he was utter toast after spring training, but so far, he's looked pretty darn good. Not perfect but good.
  18. Interesting analogy but accurate. They have to find other options for the bullpen. If you can't hold a lead or keep the damage to a minimum there's no amount of offense that will be sufficient. I think there are guys they can call up to start remedying the offense but the pen is a different animal.
  19. I doubt it. #3 I'd do that trade again in a heart beat. I think Abel and Tait are gonna be good but we'll have to wait and see on that one. 1-2 yep do them again. #4 not so sure. Roden was doing fine until the injury and Kendry Rojas hasn't really had a chance to show us anything yet. #5. Absolutely the right move in my opinion. The Correa trade topic has been discussed ad nauseum on these forums but I think it was 100% the right move to dump in back on the Stros. WaYYYYYY to expensive for his offensive production.
  20. It's not as filthy as 2006 Lirano's slider, but it honestly doesn't have to be, it's good enough.
  21. Tommy John surgery on the horizon if this doesn’t work?
