  1. Montreal is not a good destination for baseball in my opinion. They had two years of 2 million + attendance over their 35 years of play in that city (from 1969 - 2004), and that's atrocious. Montreal is quite a bit different culturally than greater Canada. I doubt they would support a team given that hockey is king in Canada. The BlueJays have done reasonably well attendance wise partly because its the biggest population center in Canada and the powerhouse of the Golden Horseshoe, but it's also the most culturally diverse city of Ontario and the eastern provinces. I still think Nashville gets a team and soon. They've had redevelopment plans for a downtown stadium for several years now and it has the backing of city council and the major. They've also lined up several potential developers and have brought Don Mattingly in to advocate for the massive project. My understanding is that they will name the team the "Nashville Stars" in honor of the famous Negro leagues team that resided there. On a different note from what i've read the negotiations with Tampa/St. Pete and the Rays has been mostly stalled for quite a while now. I know the commissioner prefers they stay put in that general vicinity, but they also said the same thing about Oakland before the move to Las Vegas too. We shall see.
  2. I like the Vegas Gamblers. Does this mean that MLB will have to reinstate Pete Rose? I mean for heaven's sake the commissioner is backing a team in the gambling mecca of the country.
  3. I would not be surprised in the least if the Tampa Bay Devil Rays end up moving to Nashville. They've been linked to them before and their stadium deal expires in 2027. tic toc, tic toc.
  4. Yeahhhh but the Coliseum is an absolute toilet bowl of a stadium, worse than the Metrodome so they did have a pretty strong case.
  5. I've never been impressed with Sands stuff to be honest. I think he was massively overhyped.
  6. I don't understand the Twins sometimes. Maeda is CLEARLY not ready and the same can be said of Mahle. Ober deserves to start the year in the rotation. Why not start the year off right and go with the best possible rotation possible.
  7. Maybe the Twins should consider bringing back Sano on a minor league deal. I don't know at this point but another option.
  8. If Liriano hadn't gotten hurt in 2006 and Radke tore his rotator cuff that team might have made it to the world series. They were awesome.
  9. The pitch clock should have happened years ago. 3 hours 6 minutes is a start, but it would be nicer to see games in the 2-1/2 - 2hour 45 minute range.
  10. It may still happen. Gleeman has been wrong before on predictions.
  11. I don't think he'll be remotely close to a #1. I expect a 4-5 starter at best and more likely a relief pitcher given his medicore fastball and lack of a strong out pitch.
  12. Part of what troubles me about the Arraez Lopez trade is that Lopez is only under team control for 2023 and 2024. I hope they try and extend him at some point this season. I had really hoped they would have made a bigger deal with Arraez plus some higher level prospects and gotten one of Cabrera, Luzardo, or Alcantara. Either way that's water under the bridge now and the FO must make the best of this.
  13. I don't either. Ober just needs a bit more time. I can't imagine the Twins have given up on him as a starter just yet.
  14. He may not end up with anyone depending on how much weight he's gained this offseason. No joke he's gained 60 or 70 pounds of fat in the offseason before.
  15. meh this move doesn't really impress me that much.
  16. I would go that far. Lopez is a #3 starter and if the Twins could do a 1 for 1 swap like Kepler for Lopez I would do it in a heartbeat. But i wouldn't give up Arraez for Lopez straight up, not considering he's got only 2 years left on his deal.
  17. I was about to say the same thing, whatever he is smoking when he wrote this article i want some. This piece is sooooo ridiculously absurd it's hilarious. Honestly, at first I thought this article was an attempt at sarcasm. Rocco is not a very good manager, period. I'm sorry he just isn't. I'm not bashing the guy personally, he's just...... not a good manager. His handling of the bullpen the last few seasons speaks volumes in and of itself, but also his inability to motivate key players season after season to produce in critical situations falls squarely on his shoulders. I don't care how good of friends he is with the players, that's not his job. His job is to help this team prepare and get motivated to play it's absolute best and ACTUALLY WIN in critical situations, which has not happened EVER during his tenure other than 2019 (excluding the playoffs of course and again in 2020 when the got shellacked). The past two seasons they've totally fallen apart in the second halfs, mostly due to key players not producing and then injury bugs as well. Tony La Russa is 10x the manager Rocco will EVER be. It's absolutely laughable that this author takes cheap shots at him. If Rocco is such an awesome manager and is better than La Russa where are the 3 world series rings Nick? mmmm.
  18. The Met's can certainly afford the deal. Should Baseball have allowed them to do it, absolutely not. They are already at 371 million which is 100 million more than the next team on the list. That's totally absurd. Baseball needs a salary cap END OF STORY. When they striked in 1994 / 1995 they should have held the MLB Players association out and said salary cap or you're never coming back.
  19. Interesting. I've been to some Met's fan sites and most of them are laughing at us. They think this is a horrible deal and that the Twins just hung themselves on a player that will be a huge albatross contract for us in just 2 or 3 years. "Based on the nature of Correa’s leg injury, Dr. Oji said his procedure likely involved both the plate and a method called tightrope fixation. The latter repairs damaged ligaments and holds them in the appropriate position, Oji said. The plate vibrating incident is easily explainable. Since there isn’t much tissue around the ankle, it’s common that patients with surgically inserted plates in the area can experience irritation with direct pressure. “Any time of a contusion, especially sliding into a base or even if you hit the side of a table, that can cause quite a bit of pain,” Oji said. “Because it’s literally just the skin, a little bit of soft tissue, then the plate.” It’s possible, but unlikely that Correa’s chronic back issues are related to the ankle procedure, Oji said. Another potential but improbable issue, Oji said, is that Correa’s surgery altered the position of his ankle and caused instability in the ligaments. The latter hypothetical, though, would lead to significant discomfort. Since Correa hasn’t hit the injured list because of his ankle, Oji’s suspicion level is low for that outcome. Either Correa has an incredible pain tolerance, or his ankle is correctly positioned. The main long-term concern for ankle fractures is arthritis in the joint" This piece is from KNBR. Interesting reading.

    It Happened!

I was worried the deal would be 10-12 years guaranteed which would have been very risky considering his injuries history, but 6 years 200 million + incentives and a front loaded deal at that is a win win for the Twins. Bravo Falvey well done.
  21. I'm not totally against the idea but Bauer is not an ace in my eyes.
  22. I'd still really like to see them get a front line starter via trade. Will be very costly, but they have A LOT of young starting prospects as potential trade bait.
