  1. I have had my doubts with Enlow since we drafted him, but it is time to push and see if he can do something for the team. I would put him in AAA and replace Sanchez who is never going to be a real asset. With his 4.89 ERA he is one of the pitchers on the opposite side of your essay - as a 31 year old he someone who can be demoted.. Which begs the question - who moves if all three of these players are promoted. I know Enlow could replace Balazovic if he goes up like you suggest, but most likely Sands would come down if Jordan goes up.
  2. I just don't think you can really invest in RP - your article makes that point. And among our good RP you list Jax - this year he is not an asset. RP are erratic, partly because no one really know how to use them. Our investment needs to be in the minors - most RP were never great prospects, but the maximize a limited arsenal. We continue to have Sands sitting in the BP, taking up space but not appearing. What have we done with him, Balazovic, Winder, or any of the others who do not look like they will be in the rotation, but have a good arm and a good pitch or two?
  3. ax 13 11 0 0 33 57 Stewart 28 17 0 0 11 56 Morán 0 25 15 0 0 40 Pagán 18 0 14 0 0 32 De León 0 0 28 0 0 28 López 26 0 0 0 0 26 Durán 18 0 0 0 0 18 Sands 0 0 0 0 0 0 Jax had to pitch because the BP was taxed???? If I read the chart right Moran, Pagan and DeLeon did not pitch on the day off. Lopez, Duran, Sands not only did not pitch on the off day, but Lopez and Duran had no pitched for three days. And Sands is obviously there to keep the BP coach company because he has no innings on the chart. Jax is lost - this is not his year. We have sent down pitchers for less, but the issue is the continual use of the ineffective as others have stated with Colome and Pagan.
  4. Just too early for Enlow. 82 games over 6 years, A 3.53 cumulative ERA, 1.32 WHIP. I want a full year of production and then I am ready to say he is the prospect that we hoped for when we drafted him.
  5. Too early! fun to speculate, but even the All star break is early.
  6. Even batters get bored waiting for the walk around the mound, pounding the resin back, staring at the catcher.
  7. Asking someone you really aren't excited about to go out because you thought the one you wanted was committed, only to find out she wasn't and now you are stuck with what you have.
  8. Fascinating story line. I wrote so much about Pagan and how awful he is last year so I have used up all my printable comments for him. Baldelli sticks with the script and Pagan was the worst choice there after DeLeon and Moran did their jobs. With a day off and the opponent being the Dodgers - go with your best. I am so baffled by the loaded bases ineptitude. That is a stat that should not happen. Just by accident we should score once. Please put Polanco on 10 day - don't keep him on the active roster because he might be okay in 9 days. Poor Gordon, what a set back.
  9. This question brings up some additional thoughts for me. Before this speculation and thinking long term I wonder if Correa bats enough to hold 3B in a few years. The front end of these last two years has not made his bat that impressive. I know he will play - his contract guarantees that. The second question is Polanco - what is his long term future? I can see the team moving on from him in the next year or two. He had paid the price of injuries and his bat can catch fire, but does not sustain. Third is the idea of a trade, who are the best trade candidates that we are willing to part with if we need another pitcher. Maybe it is an infield of Miranda, Lewis, Lee, Kiriloff with Julien or Correa at DH?
  10. After reading the comments I thought about this - where would we be if we had not signed Correa and Farmer was our SS?
  11. That was fun, and LA has not been fun. Today's match with Gray and May sounds like a pitchers duel so it will probably be 10 - 9. But still I look forward to it. I am so pleased with Ober. He is definitely a permanent part of the Rotation now which really reduces the Mahle stress.
  12. Not sure I buy this promotional piece. I am sure the FO likes it. But Maeda has a short season success and nothing else. Would we like Brusdar in the BP? We cut Yennier Cano - which is better so far Lopez or Cano? Mahle cost two good prospects who look like they will have some good careers in the majors - not a good trade even if it felt like it at the time. Put them with Ryan Pressly and Liam Hendriks and we have a great pen. But we might not have Duran. Pablo Lopez is right at his career mark - 2 - 2 (career 30 - 33) 4.00 era (career 3.94) Is he worth Arraez? I don't know , but don't think so. We had Tyler Wells, he never pitched for the Twins, but now is with the Orioles and 3 - 1 with 1.7 WAR so far this season. We lost him in Rule 5. Why did Martin Perez look so bad for us? Trading is good and interesting, so is developing your own arms. There is a problem when we overstate one aspect of a teams approach.
  13. I had to dive a little deeper into the umpires. Here is process for grading umpires.. The report on ESPN said, "These numbers do not square with the metrics provided by independent evaluators. UmpScores said the best home-plate umpire in baseball last year, Tripp Gibson, graded out around 93.6% accurate. Four umpires last season, according to UmpScores, missed on more than 10% of pitches they called for balls and strikes." His accuracy is 26% below expected. How can that be accepted?
  14. Thank you for putting up the announcers for both teams - that really put Cuzzi in perspective. Do umpires get rated? I have seen past games where he has been questionable too. Is this the rookie treatment? If so that has to go. Kiriloff has learned the strikezone and deserves to be rewarded for that. This is the best argument for Robot umps.
  15. I am with the last commentator. It is a weak set, Put Rooker with Sabato as the what the Hell were they thinking picks. Leach was a total miss, Enlow has looked pretty bad up to this year. Let's hope for some value. If Lewis has another injury and is out this class does not show value.
  16. Balazovic remains a puzzle. I suspect he will be brought up the Twins pen since at least half of it is in turmoil and not that reliable, but his future sure changed last year. I agree that Wallner comes up first but I would love to see Contreras get some game time, he has earned it, but seems like one of those organizational career minor leaguers.
  17. Some really interesting notes. I looked up Steer who has 0.3WAR as the number three hitter in the major league lineup and Christian Encarnacion-Strand who is hitting 341 in the minors. Even if our lineup is full, this is a trade we lost. But I liked the idea that we took a chance and sometimes that does not work, but it also means we don't have to stop taking that chance. Jax has been brutal, but other than Balazovic I do not see a solution. The Orioles are laughing since they have Yennier Cano and his 1.9 WAR and no runs allowed in 15 games.
  18. Vasquez has the benefit of a new three year contract. He will be around and he will be starting a lot of games.
  19. Kiriloff has looked great and might be a major part of the offensive puzzle, but for the team this guy threw batting practice. I need to see some more 4 and 5 run games. We have had 25 of the 40 games with 4 or less runs - 4 shutouts, 3 one run, 7 2 run, 5 3run and 8 four runs. I have to join the chorus on Buxton - rest a DH? My real question is - does he take batting practice before sitting down for the game?
  20. I hope Aaron Sanchez is not the next arm up. He has not looked like a SP this year. Larnach has looked better since getting called up. I hope Miranda comes alive in AAA too.
  21. Royce Lewis Brooks Lee Louis Varland Emmanuel Rodriguez Edouard Julien Marco Raya Matt Wallner Jose Salas David Festa Yasser Mercedes Conner Prielipp Cody Lawyerson Jordan Balazovic Alejandro Hildag0 Andrew Cosetti Dalton Shuffield Ronny Henriquez Austin Martin Pierson Ohl Simeon Woods Richardson
  22. Tonights lineup has three starters under 200, 4 under 250, and Solano 269 and Polanco 276. Kyle Farmer in the clean up spots tells you everything you need to know. Kiriloff must be getting a day off along with Gallo and his 200 average.
