  1. The trade is not just based on Arraez and his historic season. It is also about Lopez and the expectations being better than the production.
  2. Losing Lewis is a major loss. He has been fantastic. Big shoes for Miranda to fill. What is our rotation ranking now from 1 - 5? Is Gray still one? Where does Ryan compare with Ober? Is Lopez 5 or is Maeda? Fun to speculate. But with the Twins bats we need all five to be great.
  3. 500 team is going to have good games and bad games. The difficulty for fans is deciding which games represent the real team. Games like this? Give us real hope for the second half of the season and our schedule is in our favor
  4. I disagree on Enlow. Five walks in 5 innings and a struggle to throw strikes is not make him good enough to be a pitcher of the day
  5. Questions like this only make people speculate and move from the basic story - the question could be asked - who will bat for Arraez if he is not here. We have the answer and it is not good.
  6. Thanks for the painful reconstruction of a trade I hated. Lopez needs a drastic turn around to make us feel better. But as much as we miss his bat. His attitude is what this team needs. Sometimes an enthusiastic and positive player has more value than their bat and glove - 'remember the turtle!' No one has that fun factor (no stats to support this) and the team just goes on with business.
  7. I appreciate your response. I just have absolutely no hope for Gallo and never have. It wouldn't be in baseball. Up to people like me. We hope we hope we hope and he strikes out, strikes out strikes out.
  8. Add Gallo. Drop Correa and Buxton to lower spot in the lineup.
  9. I am sad - I wanted to have a team that inspired and fought! But we have a team with Correa/Buxton/Kepler/Vasquez/Gallo killing any momentum and still being given valuable ABs. We have a hitting coach with no accountability. We have a player given a minor league contract who is out performing all our veterans. Gray is having a hard time getting another win and Lopez has become a league average pitcher. Ober is someone we worry about as his innings increase and Ryan is still not the Ace when it comes to the elite teams we face. The BP now is without Steward and Thielbar and we have only one arm we all expect to succeed. So what now Falvey and Levine? Don't give away any more prospects to get the golden ring. Figure this out. It is your team.
  10. Same reason that Gallo and Kepler play instead of Wallner and Larnach - we have no willingness to step up, make changes, force the issues. Blah - boring - sit back and hope for the best. Yuck.
  11. Yes. Good article. Good reflection. Maybe the result will change over time, but right now I think you got the list correct.
  12. I'm not upset about the contract, but I'm just not ready to think he's that great.
  13. I'm not upset and I'm not bringing up Arraez I just get upset with efforts to find statistics to make people better than what they are. I'm very happy with the eye test and I don't need somebody to tell me that we didn't lose because we actually had better statistics. Lopez is talented. But he's not any different than what his career stats show. So I Don't want to hear how great he is and I don't care to judge the trade. Give me the full year and let's see what Lopez has done for us.
  14. I lost my original response, but to compare Nolan and Pablo is way out of my ability. Pablo is 31` - 36 with a career 4.01 and this year he is 4.40. Is he okay - yes, but we did not extend him because he was okay
  15. No you are exaggerating to make a point - I simply ask who won, who lost and did he perform at the level we want and expect and after the first month he has not.
  16. I have no idea - but no one else does either. Look at his career and tell me that he is better than his record.
  17. Come on - next we will find out that the Twins are better than their record. Performance and results are what I care about. And Lopez after the first month has been no better than a #4 or 5 starter.
  18. Half the season gone - is it still SSS? Don't we have enough facts to cut some of the "old vets" loose and start putting youth and excitement into the game. Kiriloff, Julien, and Lewis have shown that the young can play - a lot of players have shown that the older are not producing.
  19. Did I miss something? Is this the playoffs? Because we sure are playing the way we usually do against good teams in the postseason.
  20. I apologize - I read the title and could not go further.
  21. My inclination is to say no. Right now. I don't see winder, Balazovic or sands and headrick as successful developments. They are arms that are useful but a pipeline means quality and right now I don't see a lineup of quality. Ober is good but not top of rotation and varland is still a? If Maeda fails to sustain his comeback and Varland is still struggling at AAA. Who is the next one for the rotation? Will we retain gray? Ryan is really good but he is not young like a major prospect should be. Lopez has looked like umber three at pitcher since we extended him. The prospects that we are listing are still always away from Minneapolis. If we want to look at quality then maybe Petty, Cade Povich,,, represent the upside of our drafting. There are Minnesota arms out there on other people's rosters. So the question is it a pipeline that is working for the twins or is it just trade capital?
  22. When you have a series against Detroit it should be a week where you really pick up wins, but we struggle with bad teams so maybe this is a good week for us. Good teams get us to concentrate - maybe we will be 4 - 2
  23. Sometimes I think the FO is enamored with their own intelligence and get caught up trying to prove how they can figure out what others cannot. And too often what they prove is that they might want to talk to some old time baseball people.
