Okay Gallo - way to prove me wrong - so far. I have one of the old baseball superstitions - if things are going well don't change them. So for now I still don't like Gallo (keep hitting Joey). Since someone mentioned we are 1/9th of the way through the season - 11% I thought it would be fun to look at where players are right now: Vasquez, Solano, Gallo are the three highest BA on the team. Anyone betting they will be there at the end of the season? Taylor and Larnach are next at 242. While Buxton 226 and Kepler 143 are way behind. Who to send down or cut - Gordon at 095 is not looking good and Castro at 158 is not running away with his production. FOX sports lists these stats: Batting Average. .224. AVG. T 26TH OVERALL. Home Runs. HR. T 20TH OVERALL. Stolen Bases. SB. 30TH OVERALL. Runs Created. 59.86. RC. Isolated Power. .138. ISO. Wins. W. T 9TH OVERALL. Earned Run Average. 2.61. ERA. 1ST OVERALL.

Bailey Ober Inching Towards Twins
mikelink45 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would love to see Ober in the rotation. We will be losing vets like Mahle and Maeda in a year (hopefully we resign Gray) and it would be good to have a young arm to carry forward.- 26 replies

Reinforcements Are Coming, Who Loses Out?
mikelink45 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would expect the cuts in this order: Julien Gordon Castro Larnach (I would love to see him start to produce, but...) Kepler (I think they just can't let him go and no one else wants to trade for him.- 65 replies

Longest-Tenured Minnesota Twins
mikelink45 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have to admit that your lead caused me to try and find Miguel - a real disappointment. I did not find him. Is he on someone's minor league team? Is he playing in another country? What a sad ending to such a promising career. I worry that Balazovic (#10) might be another disappointing story. I suspect that Kepler will be off this list next year. The honorable mention list had Lewis and Ober and the rest don't do much for me. But the top nine have done well except for injuries.- 5 replies

I look forward to Polanco and I hope he is back to what he can be - and does not get another set back. That is the problem with our bodies when they start to break down. Kiriloff is another of the concerns and I have less faith in his reaching that earlier potential, just as I do not really see Buxton as the superstar everyone hopes he will be. Thus we move to Lewis and hope his body healed well. As someone with too many operations I can tell you that arthritis loves the opportunity to prosper. Ober another of our really good players who has been injured too often, but deserves to be up when healthy. Which brings me to Lee who is the player of the five I have the highest level of hope for. So let's see them all beat the odds and have some healthy and productive years.

Twins Minor League Week in Review (4/10-4/16)
mikelink45 replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
It is sad to see Balazovic not performing in a year that I think is key to his future and Connor Prielipp is showing signs of being another good arm/bad arm prospect - good when well, but bad too often.- 19 replies

Week in Review: Holding Ground
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I really enjoy these summaries - game by game in baseball is fun to analyze but it is true that baseball needs to be evaluated in larger chunks since a team that loses 4 of 10 games all year is in the playoffs! I saw Gallo's 7 Ks in the minors and I am not of the opinion that he is our offensive solution. But Kepler is not either. I do hope AK comes back and can show us what all his potential is. I also hope Julien gets a few more games to settle in. Buxton is our enigma - he is either a superstar of a bum - and he is both so often it is really hard to see him such a key piece in the lineup. I wish we could not only see him play over 100 games, but play them well.- 22 replies

Good series - today we got the definition of an ACE. Please no more NY bias complaints - we sound like second graders. The first two games we beat them - and that was great. The second two they beat us (enough said). Out bats are still too anemic. I know we scored 9 in one inning. Then 8 in the next 26 innings, 1 in the last two games. I don't care if Whitey Ford is out there throwing spitballs, 1 run in 18 innings does not work.

A Solid Start for Trevor Larnach
mikelink45 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am still waiting to see the true Larnach. His 255 with 1 HR is not enough for me to get excited. -
I am always thinking aggressive. Good players prosper when challenged and MLB is getting younger and younger with top prospects making their way to the bigs quicker than ever.

Gallo strikes out four times in game - I guess he is rehabbed. I am disappointed in Randy Dobnak. I do not expect him in MN again, but an 8.44 era is really bad. Indeed - a very bad day throughout the system.

You have to be kidding. In the same paragraph you tell us he is missing the zone. And he was falling behind and giving up hard contact. That is not my definition of good and I hope that is not the team's either. We lost, that will happen, but I am not excited about excuses nor do I want to pretend a batter or pitcher was better than the final results.

Three Thoughts From the Twins Season (So Far)
mikelink45 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My question would be - why hasn't Garlick been claimed by other teams. We have made him available at times if I understand the various moves we have made with him. He does what is asked and I would think another team would have snatched him from us.- 26 replies

Way to go Varland - they call him up so he can fill in and impress the club and who do they choose to start him against - the Yankees in Yankee stadium. He deserves to stay up for another start.

I love the optimism. I just want to wait until summer. I remember where we were at the all-star game last year. Baseball is cruel and the best way to enjoy it is to follow the flow without jumping to early conclusions. I agree this is a much better pitching staff, but injuries happen and we just have to keep our role well defined. We are here to watch, listen and enjoy. Everything else is out of our control.

The solution to this conundrum is to realize that most fans tuned in the second inning so they did not have to suffer a full nine innings of Yankee terror. Then the radio guys realize no one was listening in the first so they play a belated April Fools joke and tell everyone it is 9 - 0. Do we fall for it? Of course we are Minnesotans - we believe everything. Now it has spread so far and wide it seems like it was true.
