  1. I was skeptical and I am still skeptical. 0-2 in game one and then pinch hit for. No this is a too early column. I actually hope I am wrong and you are right, but lets wait a while.
  2. I'm delighted we won, but I also want to be a curmudgeon. We scored two runs against KC. We've got to do better than that. I was really questioning why Kepler is leading off. Did I miss something this just seems like a bad decision. I was glad to see somebody pinch hit for Gallo and get the automatic out off the field. To balance things out I was also happy to see Arraez get two hits with his new team. He just looks great. I love to see Vasquez get two hits. Other than that it was a perfect opening and gives me great hope for our pitching staff.
  3. So glad to see Ryan number 3 in the order. Just wish Ober was in the rotation too.
  4. This is curious. Would this be Winder's position if he had been healthy? It just seems that there are a lot of prospects with better track records (which I value more than spin metrics). If Sands fails who is next up? But good luck to Cole.
  5. Not a comparison - just a concern = Pagan is someone I have no faith in and Lopez has a lot to prove so I want to keep those who might step in if both of them fail us.
  6. This one hurts. I don't like either pagan or Lopez the reliever, in sands has not demonstrated that he has the talent that they seem to project for him. It will be a year in which we will find a lot of different opinions as the season progresses.
  7. I really appreciate this thread, I am constantly trying to find the moves and this is really informative.
  8. Nice summary, but on the All Star team and in the MVP top ten makes Giminez - not underrated. I like him a lot. The OF is a challenge. I am not comfortable with these three, but I do not know who to put in if Roberts and Buxton continue their injury streak and based on the past five years why wouldn't' t they? Detroit and KC continue to allow the Sox, Twins, and Guardians to dominate the list. But who is DH?
  9. I have enjoyed all the comments. We tried to protect Buxton last year - it did not work. Play him until he is injured then figure things out. As a DH he is not a superstar. Take away his fielding and he is good, not great. I can seem sitting him on bad weather days, but let's not sit him on a sunny and warm day no matter the strategy.
  10. I love it and I would remove the all-star game and put in a world classic instead. Better time, more viewers and more fun that HR contests and All Star meaningless games.
  11. Before we shout - 4 Kings, let's see the performance on the field. Too many question marks to start the bragging now.
  12. I have to have Julien #2 behind Lee. Then I hope Lewis is three and Rodriguez is four and climbing. Martin has a lot more to prove. And I do not know who to put at #5.
  13. I would like to see Ober start and Maeda prove himself in the pen for the beginning of the season. I worry about him even more that Mahle and his mystery ailment. If Ober and Maeda piggyback each other and rotate who starts we have a chance for both of them to be at top form when the inevitable injury happens.
  14. This is an interesting exercise with the injuries to Kiriloff and Polanco. I feel like there is really not much controversy with the FO signing veterans for the bench and to fill in when needed. I hope for Julien, Lee, and Lewis to force the team to call them up and when they do DFA for the vets if they are not producing. We saw Santana jettisoned from the 40 man, so Solano and Farmer and Gallo can suffer the same fate if they do not live up to expectations.
  15. I was curious why Sabato was listed instead of Wallner. I do like a consistent DH. I think it takes a while to adjust to DH and it is nice to have a regular lineup where everyone knows their roles.
  16. Another article tried to drink the Twins Kool-Aid, this article just ruined the taste and is the reason why no one should go crazy with their spring training optimism. Wait and see!
  17. The question is that baseball is a marathon and not a Sprint. Spring training is a time for optimism and it's nice that you come out with this strong feeling, but Kool-Aid is not on my beverage list. I'm content to watch and wait. Last year the first half season was good, the ending was not. I suggest a good glass of bourbon and just enjoy whatever happens without setting yourself up for possible disappointment
  18. Lee, not Lewis. But is this the year or is it next year for Lee? We cannot afford to extend too many injury prone players. Let's see what Lewis does in a full year before considering this. We don't even know where these two will play. The roster is not filled with aging vets.
  19. Right now our success stories are Duran, Miranda, and Gordon in that order. I wish Ober was, but let's get in a full season and Jax is a filler at this point and I hope he improves again.
  20. I'd love to see Ober in the rotation. But I just don't see the twins doing that. They signed their veteran pitchers for a reason and they may feel committed that way. Are there any other young pitchers who are looking good this year.
  21. It makes me appreciate the rotation in the mid 1960s Grant/Kaat/Perry/Pacual
  22. AM I surprised that Pagan is not having a good spring? CUT HIM
  23. To keep him fresh for all the season what you're seeing in spring training is a preview of the year. We aren't going to put him in the field or at bat but we are going to have him in batting practice everyday so he can entertain those who come to the game early.
  24. I expect him to do really well. Both with the bat and in the field. As he settles he's going to be hard to move and despite our love of versatility I know what we did to Sano.
  25. If healthy I take Ober - then it is between Winder or Richardson.
