  1. I like this - but Ober and SWR are both concerns. A few more starts and they need to turn things around, but who takes their places? Will Morris come out of the BP? Then what? Klein and Mathews are not ready. Is Connor Prielipp ready?
  2. I had really high hopes for Matthews. This is very discouraging year and I hope it's just a blip and he can come back
  3. I will join the Banda wagon and say he is perfect for a DFA. Are we waiting for Adams?
  4. No predictions - just enjoy it while it lasts - baseball can be humbling as well as exciting.
  5. Sorry - he has done nothing right or wrong. He did not put this team together, but what he can do is step up if we make it to contention or shape the future if we don't. Let's talk about Tom next year.
  6. Nice to have something positive for a change - this has been a fun stretch. Outman and Banda look like the next two to go.
  7. I enjoy these reports and getting to know so many names. But my big disappointment is AAA where I thought Matthews would prosper and Walker, Gonzales, Rodriguez and Culpepper would rake and force the team to call them up. I also find it fascinating to see Tait and Diaw on the same team, seemingly in a contest to see which one will be in MLB as a catcher first. So far the 19 year old Tait is 182 .367 .227 .594 And the the 22 year old Diaw is .250 .400 .393 .793
  8. I am wait and see on Morris, but the fact that Royce is down again is discouraging. We once had such high hopes for him. Now with Kriedler coming to the plate without a bat our lineup is definitely weakened. Who are our minor league 3B candidates besides Culpepper? Are any of them close?
  9. The reality is that the Twins lost the opportunity to extend Jeffers in the past despite the fact that they had no viable replacement. He will be missed.
  10. Let's combine this article with the previous one by Cody Christi. We need a good right handed bat more than a pinch runner. Bring up Gonzales. Get rid of Outman.
  11. A change up is a change of pace - when his fastball is the same as his changeup it will not work. I wish him well, but I do not think this is the answer.
  12. Too early to judge. I am not a fan of FIP and prefer to see the results on the field. Right now he's just a pitcher and that's fine this early in the season. Ace talk needs to wait until later in August. Our concern should be for Ober and Abel and the fact that Zebby has not looked good in AAA.
  13. I feel sorry for Lee - for all the pressure and all the criticism. All the baseball ratings while he was in the minors can't be that far off. I think 16 more games for he and Culpepper might make the team decision, but I feel like the team has failed Lee. It isn't his fault we traded Correa and thrust him into a full time SS position. So we compare him to Correa who has o.5 War and 112 OPS while Lee is -0.2 and 28. That is tough. I hope Lee turns things around. His top 100 rankings. 14. Now we get the Tigers, Blue Jays and Red Sox. Everyone struggles in the early season so we can wake up against good teams or drift to our natural position in the standings. By the way, where is Tom Pohlad?
  15. My biggest take away is how lousy our defense is - including Caratini at Catcher. If we are going to let Jeffers go and replace him with Caratini there will be a new SB record. And Matt Wallner - 5 hits, 16 Ks. Where are the coaches. Add in the missed ABS challenges and Wallner is a net negative. -0.2 WAR already. He has talent, can anyone get him to show it?
  16. I have the same issues and you stated them well. His HR/RBI is ridiculous. Someone has to have some statistic that shows he is the only one in the lineup that comes up with no one on base. Of course we have seen that disproved already this year.
  17. I agree with all your points - produce or move on. Why waste time. Wallner's Ks are killers. His occasional HR can't offset all those wasted ABs. He can do better and he should if he wants a career.
  18. I am down on Wallner - even though I want him to succeed. He not only strikes out - he watches too many strikes. I find that kind of batting very painful.
  19. I am still wrapped up in the future. Letting Jeffers go we have Caratini and Jackson at catcher. That feels like a real step backwards. Are they think Tait will surprise us all and make it in 27?
  20. The biggest takeaway for me is Wallner - I don't mean his challenge - it is obvious he does not know a strike zone and his ability to stand and watch a third strike go by seems like a good ticket for a bench seat.
