  1. Jeffers is an agony for the fan until he extends, gets traded or leaves as a FA. Larnach is a great story. Martin has far exceeded my expectations and I am glad. After these four it is a questionable group with Lee Waking up and moving up and the rest stuck in the contest for the worst batter of the month - I nominate Royce Lewis.
  2. What I most enjoy is seeing someone pitching - using the variety of pitches in a variety of locations and not worrying about the fastball and strikeouts. We had this kind of pitching throughout the 50s -90s and then someone found the bottle marked 100 mph and suddenly the pitcher became the thrower and we forgot the basics. Nice job Ober - keep it up.
  3. Trading Varland might turn out okay if our return ever pays dividends, but seeing our losing streak caused by BP failures means Varland could have been our hero. Buxton is the best we have - I can live with it. When we get someone better, we can make a change, but for now it does not matter what Statcast thinks.
  4. I really hoped Wallner would proper - he hasn't. This team is not going anywhere with the current roster so it is okay to turn over positions - to drop players and try prospects. At this point if they want power see if Fedko can provide it. Seven home runs so far and a line of 240 .301 .573 Experiment. Make the season interesting and see who will count for the future.
  5. Too late - you know his agent and you know the shortage of good catchers in the league. It would be a massive surprise if the Twins figured out how to do it. In the meantime, who moves in to catch next year? Caratini and Jackson? Tait and Diaw are not ready yet. And if we are thinking that we will rise again in 27 catcher has to be addressed.
  6. The biggest take away beside Quick hope was the performance of the Saints BP = the three pitchers that seem destined to come to the Twins BP were all roughed up. Maybe thelanges5 is right - get Quick into the BP quick.
  7. I have no criticism for leaving Taj in - pitchers give up runs in some innings. He was not out of gas and when he came in what did we have? Orze had the best ERA of the three relievers. 5.25 Wallner now at .168 and Outman is .111 - the OF competition is getting fierce.
  8. I enjoyed this. Good fielding is much more fun to watch than a homerun which gets shown so many times. It is not time to move Buxton until we get a replacement in CF that can do better than he can.
  9. My strange highlight is Keaschall getting two hits. We need him. Like others I agree that Wallner needs to sit, go down, go visit a guru in the Himalayas. Morris seems to peak at two innings and we keep giving him 3. Are they trying to see if he can ever step in to the rotation? Right now the answer is no.
  10. Seth two questions Is Zebby now the next one to be called up or is there someone else you would choose? Who would you choose to replace Outman?
  11. I had to reread the article because I couldn't believe that rooker wasn't on the list. And steer with the reds. And Cano Orioles.
  12. How about Gil with Yankees? Glad to see the comments adding more to your list. As an Arraez fan I would have loved to see him playing on our team through the last 3 years.
  13. I agree with one of the postings here - we need bats and Outman and Clemens are not good, Keaschall has his the same sophomore slump that has lasted to long for Lee and Lewis (I know they both homered) and Wallner. But looking at the lineup in St Paul and Witchita the only ones really hitting are Ross, Culpepper and Rodriguez. Other than Ross 253 is the highest BA and yes I care about BA. But I am ready for Rodriguez to make the jump.
  14. The Twins need some position players to push for MLB, but I looked at the lineups for both St Paul and Witchita and there are only three batters between the lineups hitting in the 250s - none above, And there are six below 200. This does not count Ross. I hope he keeps it going. We need something. At the beginning of the season I looked at the Saints prospect lineup and thought it would be better than the Twins, but now both teams are below 500 and I don't know what to expect.
  15. It is amazing how excited we can get with prospects then reality sets in. We do need some arms, but Marco is not ready.
  16. Banda 9.90 era - once in a while a good inning, but otherwise I think he is replaceable. Morris did great - asking for 3 innings is too much right now. The twins lineup has too many holes and the bullpen has even more.
  17. The way they are burning through max effort arms and the number of surgeries suggest that the modern game has not figured it out. We have Lopez and Abel out right now. And our IL list is five pitchers. https://www.espn.com/mlb/injuries. The Astros currently have an MLB-high 16 players on the Injured List. - not all pitchers but their rotation is in shambles and they and the Dodgers have 10 pitchers on IL. The cubs, Rays and Giants have 8 pitchers on IL, Atlanta, Padres, Blue Jays and Baltimore have 7 pitchers on IL. Boston, Rockies, Tigers, Angels, Phillies and the White sox have 6 pitchers on IL. KC has 5. https://www.oddstrader.com/mlb/injuries/
  18. I'm still rooting for him and I think his attitude will get them through. We saw the start with Royce Lewis and how he banged all those home runs when he first came up and then set he doesn't slump which of course he has been in ever since. You seem this happened regularly to many young matters. Somehow I think he has the attitude that will allow him to escape and be a dependable player for us again.
  19. Excellent recap. I look forward to these each week whether we win or lose. You covered the deficiencies and highlighted the few positives. Thank you. I am fascinated with what is happening and like most of the TD readers I am anxious for more call ups and a reset.
  20. And an error - Mr no hit - good defense failed us in his specialty
  21. I am pleased - move on from Banda. And if they want to keep both there are plenty of options for more demotions.
  22. Wow - Outman - the man kept for his defense gets hits. But then he makes an error. As some Athletic writer would say - Baseball!
